I do both natural and flashes or natural plus flash depending on where I am at and what is the background. I hope these formal beautiful images with really nice dresses come back in style. Miss these images from the distance past. Again Sal, thanks for putting so much information in a few minutes.
It was great meeting you in person Sal, with your wife. You are great in video and in person. I will do my best to attend shutter fest 5:10 , if my eye doctor allow me to travel by then!! Great video as always!
Quick and easy, but very dramatic and flattering results!!! Amazing work! Wondering if speedlights will achieve similar results....with a 10x15 backdrop?
I love these the only thing that confuses me is the rim light was at F4, the key light was at F5.6; but the photo was taken at F6.3. If metering to know what power to use or where to set the aperture, how did you come to 6.3? Did you under expose on purpose by a stop to bring highlights back in post?
Great observation it’s 1/3 of a stop difference. Sometimes I like to under exposed by a3 of a stop to protect any highlights in the skin detail. It’s easier to lift shadows than it is to recover highlights when you recovering highlights and Light room attends to color shift in a way that’s not pleasing, hope that makes sense
Please excuse me for making this comment: You have a "fat" mistake in your light setting with the flashes. If you take a look at the background, the main light is coming from the left. Contrarily, you have placed it from the right. I love your work and have already published several reaction videos about you. So please don't be angry! Great work from you! Greetings, TASPP
so i adjusted by 1/3 of a stop. i felt that at 5.6 it was a little too bright. i do this a lot... i would always be a little under exposed and lift shadows vs over exposed for highlights on the skin and risk losing details. great question - hope this makes sense.
I love the gorgeous studio lighting results with only two lights. Thanks for your fantastic instruction... as usual!
I love the studio lighting, but more than that, the poses were awesome!! See you at Shutterfest!!
Yay! Thank you!
Agreed.

Sal, your light meter for the key light was 5.6, when tested, but it states 6.3 later. Can you please clarify! Thanks great video as always!!!

its westcotts Octa-M
Also, what light meter were you using? I'm due for an upgrade. I know that you said Sekonic, but what model? I have the basic one
the sekonic 478D-U
,,,liked the 2-light setup best 'cuz sparated subject better from backdrop
agreed. more dimensional.
Newbie question... You metered key light at 5.6, shot down at f6.3, and she already has dark skin tones. Why does that work?
