To melt chocolate on the range you have to put the chocolate in a bowl over simmering water. Don’t let the water get in the chocolate or it will seize up.
Yes, you need a double boiler or a makeshift one. Love your recipes and they look like you have been toiling away in the kitchen even though you haven’t. Thanks!
I shop all year. I listen to family and friends and often go back and get what they passed up while shopping. I love to give luxury gifts, things that show I know them.
My daughter works full time and since I am retired I like to take some treats to them as well as having some at home when people drop in. I try to choose ones I know her family love.
I stumbled across your channel. How lucky am I? Wow!! I enjoy the fact you are so real. Changing direction making a little mistake and sharing shows your character. You have true grit and humility which makes you NORMAL! Thank you so much. Don’t change a thing. I am blessed to find a person who is just being real. God bless you! 🙏🏻 ❤
Amber, I had you pop up on my feed late but I love these recipes. When you are wrapping chocolate you could use some peanut butter, or peanut butter chips or even strawberry or preserves with it to change the taste a little bit. I love you being willing to share your faith! Believe me, when family and friends all fall away being grounded in your faith is what carries you through!
I give some as gifts, but I put sweet treats in amongst my appetizers for get togethers and family holidays. I've even just made a few appetizers and sweet treats for Sunday movie night, instead of cooking dinner! We love to do that! ❤😂❤
When I make these type of treats, I usually give some away. If you want it to be even easier to make the millionaire shortbread, you can buy a can of the Le Lechera caramel where the Mexican foods are in the grocery store. And Walker’s shortbread is so hard not to just eat up. I just bought a bag of the cherry cordial Hershey kisses yesterday, so I might make some of those treats with that.
@jennifers1123. I made a cheesecake for Christmas a couple of years ago & when it was finished, I put a circle of the Cherry Cordial Kisses all around the edge of the cheesecake. It looked so pretty. I absolutely LOVE the cherry cordial kisses! Another trick with the Cherry Cordial Kisses is to unwrap it & put it in your mug of hot chocolate. YUM it is really delicious. Also, on the topic of melting chocolate, if you’re going to melt chocolate chips, if you don’t add some melted butter or some shortening, your chocolate chips will seize up. A couple of years ago, I did dipped pretzel rods & the chocolate in the bowl kept hardening up. That was because I didn’t know that I needed to add the shortening or the melted butter. If you don’t want to bother with adding one of those things, just use the almond bark. It melts very nicely & you can melt it again, if it starts to get hard. You don’t have to worry about it doing that, because that’s what Almond Bark is made for, to dip other treats in its melted form. I don’t have any Almond Bark on hand right now to look at see what it’s made with, but it’s made with ingredients that allow it to melt & not seize up.
@@lynnkavanagh7361 oh, that sounds fantastic! My mother taught me to add a little shortening to chocolate. I now use coconut oil because I always have it on hand, and it works really well.
You could put your shortbread (or other cookies for that matter) into a zip lock bag; smash them a few times with a rolling pin and roll them. No equipment required. Also everything looks fabulous.
I started working on the gifts I will be giving last January. I am making all my gifts this year. I just finished not too long ago (a week maybe) But now I am making other things to prepare...like baking, and making a guest treat. I usually get each person their own personalized size box of chocolates and place them on each dish at the dinner table for an extra "I love you" type thing but this year, I made some miniature gnomes for decor and my husband likes them so much that he went out shopping one day and came home with all the materials I would need to make more, only they will be in red, white and black, making little Santa gnomes. I've made a few and they turned out so cute that I decided that it would be much better than always chocolate.
Lol I start the day after Christmas I'm still working a few of them. Then I will be making ornaments, Happy Thanksgiving, and a very Merry Christmas 🎄 @@FeedingtheByrds
OMGosh - those Millionaire Bars look fabulous!! I will be trying those first!! LOVE your videos, and how REAL you are!! We all make little "oopsies" during cooking, and you are so fun about it!! With the price of groceries, we're certainly NOT throwing out anything, right?? Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Those millionaires bars look wonderful. My husband will love those! I love the cinnamon sticks. They would be great on a coffee bar or for hot chocolate. Green bean casserole is my favorite. And I could eat the French fried onions out of the can. Thanks Amber 🍫🍩🦃🙏
I really love your creativity! Keep it up my friend! Success is what happens after you have survived all of your disappointments! Never give up, great things take care! It deserves all success around and I'm here for you!
I do treat bags for my husbands coworkers and I do a couple neighbors a tin of goodies. I keep a few different things at home for my kids, husband and my grandkids.
Oh Amber, I was so on goal to be ahead this holiday season...then the middle of Oct my 85 year old mother had a stroke. I ended up living with her for a month to take care of her...then I did a funeral meal at our church and the next day woke up with COVID. So that was the week of Thanksgiving. I am just now 2 1/2 weeks later still trying to get my energy back. I just went down to my Moms and got her house 80% decorated last night, hoping to get to my house decorations this weekend. Just one year I would love to be decorated by Thanksgiving Day! Oh well, at least I still have my Mom and other than she gets very tired quickly I am blessed to still have her. and she has recovered from her symptoms. So priority in check! Thank you for your recipes. I will be trying some of these for neighbor gifts. They look delicious. Blessings to you
Hello Amber. 75% I started wrapping presents 🎁 yesterday 12.1.2023. Passed years I wrapped the presents on Christmas Eve 12.24. I took the photos and video while everyone slept. This year I change I started early. I am taking it easy on myself this year for the 1st time. I will continue to keep our traditions. I’ve saved glass coffee storage jars throughout the year. I’ll be filling them with your treats and decorating them for gifts this year. Thanks a bunch from 🇬🇧 UK
I make a lot of my Christmas, I make 3 ornaments beads and wire (200 of each) so I only have my husband, daughter and 9 kid (nieces & nephews to by for.
I will be making the treats you shared with us today. I like to give the Christmas treats to family and friends and my husband takes some to work to share with his crew members.
thank you for the great ideas I made so many pie crusts for pies this Thanksgiving for pies I had some crusts left over I put in the freezer I am going to make the cinnamon sugar pinwheels my granny used to take leftover pie crusts and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and bake them and cut them up and I loved it making them into pinwheels looks so awesome and cute 🙂
My family and I did a gingerbread and North Pole Christmas theme for Christmas in our house one year 1 year, and all of the homemade candy and homemade cookies snacks that I made for the holiday I wrapped it up in individual plastic wrap and I hung it on the Christmas tree for a gingerbread tree along with the regular Christmas decorations and whenever our company and guests came over to the house to visit for Christmas the children were allowed to go and pick snacks off the gingerbread Christmas tree, and we had individual wrap candy and cookies wrap around the perimeter of the door frame so when people leave out they can cut a bag of snacks from around the door and take that home that was my family's way of giving our Christmas snacks away for the holiday
I'm way ahead, all my christmas pressies were in by the end of September. My Turkey, Joint of Beef, Ham etc, all vacuum sealed and in my freezer. Veg is prepped ready to go, desserts planned. Starters in freezer all I need is the fresh produce which I'll get nearer the time. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Scotland but Christmas. We celebrated harvest festival in October but its not a big holiday. Great recipes Amber, I make the millionaires shortbread but I use chocolate vermicelli on the top as opposed to melted chocolate. It reminds me of my childhood. Thank you for sharing xxx
They all look great! I think I'll make the puff pastry with chocolate bar filling for an upcoming cookie exchange. Loved your faith story. It is an individual journey; can't get by on grandma's coattails.
Yes, my hope too is in The Lord, thank you for not leaving God out of your videos xx Jean from Scotland. ps Subscribed ages ago............liked and shared to my Facebook and looking forward to making lots of these 🧡
A way to add onions. You grate them with a fine grater. I did that becsuse my kids didnt like the texture, some said they didn't like onions. No one ever complained nor did they know. An easy hack for onions. Hugs
Hi Amber!! I’m loving this video & I’m ready to make some treats! Is there any chance you could link your “treat” video from last year also? Thanks!! 🎄
You can Puree your Onions and then add to your Recipe. That is what I do when I make Spaghetti Sauce , Marinara Sauce and other Recipes that you need the Flavor yet don't want to feel the Texture of the Onion. I have been doing that for years, as I don't eat Onions either. And for Making Fajitas or a Roast things like that, I put in Onions but don't put any on my Plate when serving my dish. work's out Great that way.
Amber, I just love your channel. You are so funny when you make a mistake but take it in stride. That is so like me. I love all these treats you made today. I think anything with chocolate will be what I make first. LOL
We use a mixture of several different things. We've never done the "box set" kind of thing, because there is always something that won't work for us. So we go with an al a carte approach!
I'm the same way I don't like the texture or onions or pepper so I blend them with chicken broth or whatever liquid I'm using after I cook them a little and it always works out
My two things I like to have on a table for Thanksgiving is dressing and I'm talking about real dressing that's made with real cornbread and not that jiffy mix cornbread or stove top stuffing, because I want my dressing to taste like dressing and not a desert because jiffy mix cornbread and stove top stuffing has a sweet taste to it, so I don't want my dressing to taste like a bread pudding I want it to taste like a savory dressing supposed to taste, my second food I would like to have is good old fashioned homemade baked macaroni and cheese
I've already put the ingredients for the Millionaire bars on my shopping list. I'm not a fan of chocolate croissants, so I'd put some jam in the center and a bit of a glaze on the top.
**You could break up the short bread a bit to blend easier **If hubby doesn’t like the texture of onion but likes the taste, just cut it up fine **To get a half can of condensed milk, weigh with scales, be sure to give the bowel you put it in a quick spray of oil, it will slide right out.
Such cute ideas. I would suggest “gluing“ those marshmallows together with some melted white chocolate or white almond bark when you make the snowmen instead of using a toothpick. That way you needn’t worry that they forget about the toothpick.
Hi Amber. how are you? good video. suggestion for 1st recipe shown is you could add custard to it. to give a little extra flavor. I like these recipe ideas. I bet everyone in your family loves these.

Me either! I'd rather shop in my pj's!
My husband band doesn't luke onion texture as well and my oldest son is allergic to them
Use condensed onion soup. It works to add the flavor and hide the onions
Hmm.. I don't think I've tried that!
