    Try coconut oil instead of wax and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! It tastes amazing, it makes the chocolate shiny and you don’t have to eat wax!

    • @SissyAustin
      @SissyAustin 4 місяці тому +16

      I have used Parrifin Wax for years, not only does it make the Chocolate shiny but it preserves. My Mom always started making Chrisymas Candy the Day after Thanks. You don't use so much wax. I can remember when I was a kid, my Mom would out melted wax on top of her preserves when she canned it. She lived to be 94 yrs 11 mos.

      @@Rebecca-r7h that’s a great question. In the past, I’ve tasted candy made with wax (didn’t enjoy it), but I’ve never actually made it using wax as I try to avoid ingesting such things. I would assume it’s a 1:1 ratio. Perhaps try a small batch first to verify?

    A candy that I make that was passed down from my mom was peanut butter balls. I also use the Gulf Wax in my chocolate and it does make them shiny and pretty. I use toothpicks in my peanut butter balls to dip them into the chocolate. Once the chocolate hardens I take them all out. Note: I put a toothpick in each peanut butter ball, stick them in the fridge for about 30 minutes, take them out and dip, stick em back in the fridge and once that chocolate hardens I take all the toothpicks out.

    Thanks for more wonderful recipes! You asked what candy recipes we have handed down. In my family it is my Great Grandma's Divinity, her peanut brittle, and my Grandma's old fashioned butter fudge and butter brickle. But we also make a lot of different candies like yours! I always love finding new ones! We also have a pie my Aunt found in an old church cookbook called "Joy Pie," it is a simple frozen cherry pie, almost the texture of ice cream, it is sooooo good and looks festive since it is pink. One year nobody thought to make that and all of the kids were really, really upset. 🤣So now we always make sure someone makes it. It is my son's absolute favorite and one of my daughter's favorite desserts.
