Kamski's a really interesting character because he's the person who knows the most about androids yet seems to be 100% neutral when it comes to their conflict with humans. For the longest time he's the only human who knows the location of Jericho but chooses to let the androids be. It's like he sees himself as someone above all conflict and would just like to observe the war between androids and humans.
@@GooGooGadgetYeah, this is pretty much the answer. The working theory is that Kamski designed Androids to deviate because he wanted to become the father of a new intelligent species.

If Connor obey Kamski and shot Chloe, Kamski win because he made an obedient machine. Obedient androids are what everybody wants. His product will sell hard and become a successful CEO. If Connor disobeyed Kamski and didn't shot Chloe, Kamski win. That means he's able to create a machine that looks like a human and also have free will and empathy. He probably felt like God when that happened. Because we all know that only God can make a being with free will and have empathy. He's winning any other way.
What I love about the "Connor sparing Chloe" scene is how Hank reacts to it. He doesn't straight up tell Connor that he did the right thing; he wants to get deeper than that first. When Kamski is telling Connor to shoot Chloe, to see beyond the surface and get a reaction out of him, Hank tries to get him out of the situation. He doesn't want to pester him or see if he feels empathy, he just wants to leave and pull him out of an uncomfortable situation. But after Connor spares her, when they're walking outside, now _he_ starts to question Connor and dig deeper at him to gauge his reaction. And when Connor reacts the way he does - with what seems to be genuine emotional turmoil and empathy - THAT'S when he drops the questioning and comforts him. Tells him that choosing his emotions, his empathy, over cold hard logic, was the right thing to do. Idk, i's really interesting to me. One of my favorite scenes in the game.
I wish you fully turned into a deviant here rather than with Markus, I just wish that interaction could have involved trusting Hank rather than talking to Markus - this is already Connor going completely against the most optimal solution for the case, why isn't this the moment you deviate? The option could just be to "shoot" and you have to break through to choose "not shoot". They could've just made it a little more tense and dramatic in the scene so Connor seemed more stressed into deviance. I honestly wish that was the case
Luna17 17 I know I'm late but in my playthrough hank commited suïcide because his relationship with Connor wasn't very good already, shooting Chloe was eventually the reason why Hank killed himself
I whish they made kamski a bigger part of the story. Such a cool character and after that sadly… short scene which was VERY interesting it left alot to be desired. Like this guy just seems like he knows SO MUCH MORE than connor could get out of him. Also Hank does pretty poor detective work literally just driving up to this guy saying „hey u made them do u know anything“ and then instantly pushing to leave. Who knows maybe he added some lines in his code that allowed mutations or maybe made the first deviant by himself. Also the huge desire of his to delve into philosophy makes this even better which couldve been explored alot more. Plus since its been 6 years post release for Detroit become human we absolutely need a sequel. Maybe now they have achieved equal rights in detroit and conquered michigan but they need to evolve and free robots all over the us or something. Maybe make kamski the next villain where he knew about deviants all along and created a counter virus rewriting their code to follow him man theres so much potential.
I actually like this game more than The Last Of Us. It's like a crossover of the recent Planet Of The Apes Trilogy and a bit of Terminator 2 & 3. And since I love movies more than games this felt like being in a movie since the way Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft & Meta seem to control the world more than our politicians. And this scene was pretty dark and powerful IMO.
I wonder, can you shoot Chloe and still end up with a Connor that is able to become deviant? How much does this choice effect him? Cus I could see a storyline where he's bee struggling with deviancy the whole time and shooting her is his last ditch effort to prove to himself that he's not one. And it doesn't work.
This answer probably comes too late, but maybe it's useful for someone else: I think it's possible to still become deviant, since it's also possible to stay friends with Hank even if you shoot. The events during "Last Chance, Connor" change a bit, but in an interesting way. There's no need to go to the evidence room, so you never have to distract Perkins and Connor goes right to Jericho. But the tone of the conversation with Hank beforhand changes a bit: YOu have new dialogue options, like Connor agreeing with Hank to an extent that the deviants deserve a chance. Also, Hank will refer to a different event when it comes down to Connor's empathy (like saving him on the rooftop or taking a bullet for him at Stratfort Tower) and his voice sounds bit stricter in this path, even if the lines are the same. It's a really nice detail, since their last meeting ended on a very tense note. He still asks Connor to be careful, so I guess all the events afterwards will unfold as if you never shot Chloe.
@@SolvNia That's so interesting. I know the dialogue changes but I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. I stopped watching DBH run-throughs for awhile but a math channel mentioning the Turing Test made me want to look this up.
Connor's behaviour at Kamski test is actually a paradox. Every time. You already know, that Connor is particially Hank's android. So he should obey Hank's commands. If Connor actually spares Chloe, he shows deviant behaviour, feels "empathy". But also he obeys Hank's command to hold a fire, so he shows both deviant and obediant android behaviour. If Connor shoots Chloe, he shows that he is a deviant cuz he disobeys commands of his owner, and yet he doesn't see any soul in a machine so he doesn't feel "empathy" which means that he is still a machine. Just realize, that every time, when Connor obeys someone's commands, he shows a deviant behaviour to another one.
Yes, I had already realized that, strangely the fact of shooting her would imply a paradox Because anyway he would be always against a mission, the mission to obey Clancy Brown (Hank), same if he doesn't shoot her, but with now that has to do with Neil Newborn's (Kamski) mission. Demonstrating that the concept of Deviant is a fallible concept, because it has to do with the commands given to the android at that time. If he doesn't shoot the female android, Bryan Dechart will show symptoms of becoming a Deviant with respect to the orders of its creator. If you shoot him it's the same, he becomes a Deviant according to Clancy Brown's orders. Demonstrating that it is possible that the question of being a Deviant can do something that is always gradual, because no matter what an android always does what it is ordered to do, Always find the contradictions when taking action, Just like humans. Was that the reason they became Deviants? Because they begin to feel these contradictions when obeying orders? And not always following the orders of the person you follow is the best way to accomplish a pre-established mission? Guess what this is the case.
Well, actually my Connor didn't kill her not because of some eyes, but becuse Hank was yelling "let's goo, let's goo". Then I decided that Kamski can lie and Hank probably would fail smth in the future for the investigation judging by his reaction with my Connor killing stripper. But on the other hand if you are an extremely determined Conner who will do anything for their mission that would separate them from the deviants that spare the android
@@drcontracting4710 Sure, determned Connor (machine Connor?) would most likely simply kill to accomplish his mission. Conversely, you can play altruist Connor/Green!Connor yet still have the chance to remain machine if the following choices are machine enough to knock off your balance of choices. Of course, if you're too far red or green this may be the point of no return. Yet if you're more nuanced as a player, I like to think this opens up more choices that aren't necessarily addressed but are implied.
Of course I could also be giving the writer(s) too much credit. They did cut out a large storyline so who really knows how much deeper they could've gone? Have a nice day.
Detroit: Become Humans has players playing a huge role in the Android Revolution. Taking place in future Detroit Androids have become commonplace tools that have replaced most jobs and services. Bettering certain lives while also destroying many others.
Funny that if you kill the android you can ask one question, and JUST one question is actually relevant to the mission (Jericho Location). "Who's rA9?" "Tha hell is this, I don't know", "How deviancy spreads?" "Good question, but it's irrelevant". Kamski himself gets disappointed if you ask those questions because you killed Chloe for ask something stupid.

Do we think the creator actually created the deviants? So it begs the question, are they really alive or acting to the creators code?

You can’t I’m afraid…
@@Pandaz101 oh!…
you can, go to the main menu and go to chapter select, and agree to have it override your current save when you select a level (if you want to continue playing with your decision) @@Nibba89

Due to a programming issue Androids can obtain free will and become Deviants. This will incite the sparks of the Android Revolution as 3 Androids will become paramount in how this revolution starts and ends. Decide the fate for the future of the Android race by either supporting or destroying the Android's fight for freedom.
