    Hi, Brad. Been a planner/ scheduler for most of the last 20 years. Just want to say how appreciative I am with this video and how nice you are to bring this up beside the usual subjects around drawing technique.
    My 2c is that knowing precisely how many times you put into each step/ planning will come with time and wisdom, knowing your own limit and productivity, so don't be surprised if any of you 'miscalculate' and end up feeling compressed with deadline, losing sleeps etc.
    Just recalibrate, set mitigation plan and follow up.
    Good one!

    This is really helpful for a creative grant I'm submitting to soon! They expect an applicant to explain how they plan to document the process of their project after they win.. That was a little confusing to me at first, but now I understand a little bit better why it's important to keep them in the loop, and the best ways to do so.

    Hey brad, I have a question regarding on choosing my first pen on screen display monitor, I have watched both reviews of these two tablets that I'm leaning towards too. Which is better huion kamvas pro 20-22 vs the new wacom cintiq 16, those are my two options as I have cleared of all the competitors that I was researching before, would you mind clearing my confusion in purchasing either one of them? I hope you would answer my messages
    P. S. Your videos are great keep up the good work

    Hi Brad! I'm currently working as a freelance illustrator for children's books, it's not my first project, but i don't really have that much of experience, i want to ask if it took too long for you to set your working hours during the day, how you managed to get more and more productive as a freelancer, cause i always feel like i'm improductive and i'm super afraid of getting called out or disapointing the clients, don't know if it's something mainly in my head, but sometimes can be really frustrating :(

    • @brayanrodriguez7096
      @brayanrodriguez7096 5 років тому +2

      Nathaly Lopes I feel exactly the same, but I actually am very lazy, the way I manage to finish things within my own deadlines like he said, is to schedule my day routine (in general), and I give to each thing I do some hours, and between those hours, I left free time, this is the key point here, thanks to those free minutes or hours if I’m struggling with a deadline I would use them to continue the work, and if I have plenty of time I would use it to relax (remember that relaxing will help you a lot while working on something, never use more than 3 or 4 hours without resting at least 10 minutes)
      Maybe not the best way to manage time, but it works just fine for me :D

    • @nathalymarialopes
      @nathalymarialopes 5 років тому +2

      @@brayanrodriguez7096 What a coincidence, i do the same! haha I'm actually starting to get more freelance jobs right now, so i NEED to do this, also cause i don't have a display, so if you also deal with laptops or screens that are not made specially for this kind of job, you know what i'm talking about hahaha too much time staring at a bright screen for color accuracy and stuff. But even if i get my work updated, i still feel like that, i guess some kind of "impostor syndrome" is up here, now i'm trying to work 9 a.m till 8 p.m max. during the day, but it's a new thing for me, i hope when i get my own display i can be more productive, i've heard stories from other freelancers that said the displays helped them, it was more comfortable to work on and less tiring.

    • @brayanrodriguez7096
      @brayanrodriguez7096 5 років тому +2

      Nathaly Lopes Yup, that’s one of the most truly things, using a better display with accurate colors and perfect brightness makes everything more comfortable, and the best works are done while you feel happy with it :D
      Sadly those are very expensive, I recommend you maybe an iPad Pro (if you don’t need too much photoshop or if you’re thinking of a pen display to illustrate they’re expensive too, but worth the buy, I used a Wacom tablet and it took me over a month to finish one (and not good) piece, bc I wasn’t comfortable, but after buying this I do 2 good pieces in one and a half week, it’s just amazing

    • @nathalymarialopes
      @nathalymarialopes 5 років тому +2

      @@brayanrodriguez7096 Dude, i live in Brazil, literally everything is expensive hahahahaha Just kidding :'D Ipads are off the table for me,i'm going for a Huion 156HD V2, which brad reviewed here too, it's still expensive, like,almost 4,000 on local currency,but it's waaay cheaper than a wacom display, which is around R$10,000, or R$15,000 if you're looking for the good ones or ipads that can go up to R$6,000 + the gadgets. I've been using for the past 2 years an Wacom Intuous Draw Small, i'd describe it as that cute distant little cousin of the displays haha i bought it when i still thought of art as a hobbie, and it's been a great buddy all those years, i do great stuff on it, but it's time to change, i'm thankfull to be able to change soon enough, due to the price of artistic devices here and the salaries, it's a privilege.
      And i Agree, everything is better when you're happy with your workplace and the pieces you get to produce.

    • @brayanrodriguez7096
      @brayanrodriguez7096 5 років тому +2

      Nathaly Lopes Yes, that’s true too, Apple and Wacom are too expensive, I think the iPad (for artists) is worth the price, and 64gb is enough if your using it only for art stuff, but Wacom is a scam, definitely Huion is the best option for pen displays! :D
      I guess I’m just lucky that I’m still young so the money used to buy the iPad wasn’t mine, I asked my parents to not give me gifts since 2015 and finally last Christmas we got enough for this, and currently I’m working a lot so I’m almost there to pay the price they invested on my art
      Sadly not everyone can do the same, but remember! Your ability is more important than anything! Even if I had a Wacom it won’t make me better artist, just someone with money :P
