One thing I really appreciate from this demonstration is that you still have solid fidelity without all the fancy dx12 features running. That along with showing an FPS display is quite nice. (much as I'd like the hardware specifications used for that portion, the point is to show the difference between on/off here, so it's not a deal breaker.) I'd like to echo Johannes's point about the light source on the fire Gnerot shown here. Multiple light sources to draw shadows from, or centering it at torso height (or at least higher than it was in this demonstration) would make that display work better intuitively. I understand multiple light sources on a single enemy would potentially be throwing a lot of work at the system for little gain, but moving the built in light source to a higher spot on the model would easily fix the uncanny shadow casting effect. When the giant is in motion it works well enough, but the moment's where it stopped really stand out. Of course, it stands out so much in part because of how good the presentation is overall. Kudos to everyone at EXOR involved!
@@manuelcc13able looking on the announced games this year, except Resident Evil Village I don't know if Cyberpunk 2077 will have any competition. Yes, there are some big games that will be released, like Far Cry 6, Age of Empires IV, Battlefield 6, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart or even Deathloop, but it's hard to believe they will give GOTY to one of those. It would need Far Cry 6, for instance, to be an extraordinary new entry in the franchise to really believe it will have any chance to win this - same for the other ones. I don't say it's impossible, but it's hard to believe. And regarding indie scene, I don't believe that games like The Riftbreaker or It takes two will win it, even if these are really good games.
Where are the light coming from ? In the first minute with the flame giant, it looks like the light is emitted from the giants feet. The shadows are just so long and hard, that my sense of realism tells me that raytracing off could be a better option (also because i prefer having enlightened surroundings. All these moving shadows could be a bit oo much. Still super impressive what is possible already !
Replace the legs of that robot with a 3-4 legs type, or even tank wheels like Wall-E, add some dust effects as it move and auto-throttle... Then you have a more natural look on the movements.
I would get a RTX type card..... If it was actually possible.. Ray tracing tech on cards just happened to come ahead of years of supply line issues. Could be mid decade before raytracing can be easily bought a msrp
You always strive for the most quality graphics on PC with every game.
