I saw your video so I tried couple and love how easy was to follow your directions. I’m making them for seniors, mentally challenged adult friends, and my grands. I put word out to my fb friends and at the thrift store I go to and I’ll have enough cd n dvd to keep me busy long time. Thank you
I definitely will use your tutorial rather than those that show sewing by hand! Also, I'm planning to use bigger buttons so that additional cards can be tucked behind the buttons! Thanks for your tutorial! If all works well then I may make some for local nursing homes.
You are fantastic tutorial maker. Perfectly paced, explaining why AND why not to do things the way you do them. If I had these things I would definitely make them, for me it would be more expensive to make them than just buy a couple, but for people who have remnants, buttons, and upholstery thread this is a perfect "extra" gift or stocking stuffer.
What a wonderful idea! I was playing cards the other day with my 5 year old granddaughter and she had a terrible time holding her cards. I’m making one of these today! Thank you Angela, this is so clever, as usual.
I think you’ll enjoy making them. It’s quite fun. Maybe she can help you pick out the fabric and buttons.😊. I’m going to make some with Frozen themed fabric I have left over from mask making. Cheers!
I made 3 of these today. I’m taking them to visit my 2 granddaughters (one is 5 and one is 12) and surprise them when we pull out the Old Maid game. They are going to love it!
I have just completed 4 of these little gems ready for smallish grandchildren we are taking on a canal boat holiday in 3 weeks time .wonderful tutorial thank you .
Fantastic! They’re so fun to make. You may want to make some cooling neckbands if you’re going somewhere really hot. Thanks for watching. ua-cam.com/video/Y9K86mzmmu0/v-deo.html
Woooow. I've never thought of making card holders but these are beautiful! I'll make some for my dad, he loves playing cards with his friends. Just gotta find some CDs. Thrift shops, here I come!
Peeeerfect thing!! We have been looking for something for my mother in law! She has a hard time holding cards after her stroke, this is absolutely perfect Angela! thanks!
What a great idea. I’d use that, as I have limited use of my fingers, and pain, so it would great to be able to play cards without making my hands hurt! ❤️❤️It’s also a good way of recycling old CDs and DVDs! ❤️❤️
Thank you for such a complete and easy to follow tutorial! I just completed my first one. 😊 I discovered a coffee filter is the perfect pattern for the fabric. 💕
Hi! A couple of my Aunts and I get together frequently and play cards. One of them has been dealing with hand pain. When I saw this I thought, EUREKA! I just made a couple using a cute dog fabric (we all have dogs and love them unconditionally 🐾) with a coordinating fabric on the back. They turned out beautifully!!🤗 Thank you ever so much for this practical and easy pattern. Think I'm going to make a few more 😁!
Unfortunately, I don't sell these items, so I'm unable to provide specific pricing advice. I recommend calculating your material and labor costs to determine a price that ensures a profitable outcome for you
there are lots of “ how to make flower with ribbon “ videos but I want to make one with just 1 or 2 pieces of scrap fabric and not having to sew multiple pieces together.
Love these! Made some over the weekend and they are so cute. My only problem is that the cards get hung up on the gathers. Any tips on making them flatter? Or am I the only person that has had that problem? 🤷 Thanks!
Thank you for sharing! I’ve made a few of these and I’m wondering if there might be a way to sew with 2 pieces of fabric front and back without having to gather at the end… any ideas? You are so creative maybe you can think of a way.
You would be making it way more difficult as you would need to add a seam around the edges and still need an opening to insert it. This is the simplest way with clean edges and the gathered fabric holds the cards in nicely.
I have a singer inspiration and on 0 tension it's making these huge loops on one side, the other side looks correct like yours. When I pull the strings, it pulls the thread out of the loops. Any suggestions? This is so frustrating! I completed one by hand and it's perfect but I have to make so many that it's too time consuming. I need to get this figured out on a sewing machine. Please help!!!
@NotchesSewing yes! Turned tension down a bit ans stitch to 4. Successfully made a set of 2. Thank you so much for your quick response and for the great craft idea!!!
@@NotchesSewing thanks for your reply. My bobbin is installed properly. I have an older Bernina Record. It’s not digital. My top stitch tension is merely a dial with a “+” and “-“…. I’ve tried adjusting that without any luck..?
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? I have the right thread and right settings, but when It comes time to pull the thread, only about half of It sinches up. And I’m pulling hard. It seems so easy in the video. What am I doing wrong?
@@NotchesSewing not that I can tell. Is the bobbin supposed to be the embroidery thread as well? If not, that might be where I’m messing up. Works fine when I do It by hand
Not sure if cardboard would hold up to the constant handling and you would also need to take the time to cut into correct shape. Ask friends and family and local charity shops for unwanted old cd’s, dvd’s
I tried to make this following every instruction. I even went and bought the strong thread. There was NO WAY I could gather up the thread. Used no tension and the largest stitch but I could not gather!!! Tried 3 times til the fabric was like a rag. Very disappointed. Did it by hand in the end.
Did you pull on the bobbin threads and not the top threads? As you can see in the video, when there is no tension when sewing, the top threads should produce very loose loops allowing you to pull the bobbin threads very easily. What type of fabric are you using? Using running stitch by hand is gone too.

What a great idea! I’m organizing my 50 year high school reunion and this would be a very clever gift for each participant!
I think they'll love it! Bowl cozies are always great as a gift. It's something everyone never knew they needed...🙂
Made these for grandchildren…. They love them. Thank you.
Wonderful! So glad. Thanks for watching😊
I am going to do the same! So glad to have found this!

What a great idea. Would be especially good for kids whose hands are too small to hild a lot of cards. Thanks for such an easy tutorial to follow.
Not my original idea but made quite a few samples to come up with easiest and neatest method. Thanks for watching.😊

Thank you. Just found about 50 disc. Now I can make these card holders. Thank you

Thank you! I teach a single mom and four of her 5 children ( middle three she adopted), to sew. Great gift to make in our class.
You are so welcome! Have fun😊
This is awesome idea for children and elderly or those who have arthritis - much easier to hold multiple cards at once. I love it! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. I’ll have another tutorial soon on a simple way to embellish them. Cheers
By far the easiest tutorial I've tried. Tons of people are asking for these now!
Thank you! Yes they are very popular. Biggest challenge is finding cd’s and dvd’s these days…….

Thanks so much😊
Great tutorial. I have arthritis and play card games, so I'm definitely going to make this !

Delightful idea and so simple!

You are so welcome! I’ll have another tutorial soon on how to simply embellish them. Cheers!
I like the taturial I made these but u make them differently I used felt instead bating its easier to use 2 whole buttons
These are too cute! I need to make some for the grandkids.
Please do!
Wow, how smart is that. I’ve seen them before, but had no idea how to do them. Thank you, such a good idea.

Definitely simpler than the other method I saw. Thank you 😊
Thanks. Do you mean method with plastic lids? Cheers!

I didn't invent this but hope my sewing tutorial helps.🙂

Got such a neat card playing idea going to make several maybe it will help stop my husband from cheating when we play together lol thank you
Have fun!!😊
super bravo :)

working on it.😊. Thanks for watching.!

do the hard stay on. I would think they would slip as there is a gap between both the cds
Yes they stay in as the gathers of the fabric keep them in place and no gap. Hope you try it.
Love these! Made some over the weekend and they are so cute. My only problem is that the cards get hung up on the gathers. Any tips on making them flatter? Or am I the only person that has had that problem? 🤷

You are the very first with this question😊what do you mean gets hung up? It should slide smoothly in and out between the fabric
@@NotchesSewing the corners of the cards catch in the gathers.
could try giving it a quick press before joining together
Can I use top stitch thread with my sewing machine and regular sewing machine needle? Beginner here 😊

@NotchesSewing yes! Turned tension down a bit ans stitch to 4. Successfully made a set of 2. Thank you so much for your quick response and for the great craft idea!!!
Oh good. I hope your gifts are a huge hit!
Is there anything else to use other then cds?
epic idea, i would use cardboard instead of hard disk...if accidentally step on it on the floor and disk breaks
When I set my top stitch tension to zero my stitches bog down and tangle underneath…. Am I misunderstanding how to do this?
Please check that your bobbin in put in properly. There should still be tension on bobbin thread.

Sure. Just sew together in a cross design. Happy Holidays!

you can carefully handwash them
