Passenger Ferry Caught in Massive Waves

Watch horrible waves smashing against the Interislander Ferry at the coast of Wellington, New Zealand. The ship faces storm and winds of more than 100 km/h, and meter high waves. Not a nice day to go for a trip for sure.

I hade a school trip down to Picton an the Kaitaki and on the way back this is exactly what the waves were like

Several years ago we took a ferry and the winds were so strong it was almost impossible to walk onto the dock area to board the ferry! I was amazed they didn’t cancel the crossing, winds were in excess of 75 mph.

The crossing would only get cancelled if the swells in the strait hit 6 meters but they still cross at times in high swells as it could read 3-4 meters when they leave Port by the time they get into the strait the winds and swells have picked up as this stretch of water is unpredictable with the tasman sea and Pacific oceans meet making it one of the most dangerous
