So, you're allowed to play notes outside of the pentatonic scale while playing it? The chord progression uses D and A flat but those notes are taken out when using C minor pentatonic. This is all new to me so im a little confused trying to understand it.
Ik ga het toch één keer zeggen: jij hoort jezelf zooo graag praten! XD Maar alsnog uitdagende en leerzame filmpjes, elke keer weer. So keep up the good work. 👍🏻
This video was meant more as a concept lesson and the licks simply to illustrate (not so much to copy 1-on-1 per se). But I'll definitely make some more dedicated "lick" videos like this one: ua-cam.com/video/jrkwW8CvT5A/v-deo.html In those I do go over the exact sequence more thoroughly. :) Ps. Tip: just slow down the video when you find a lick that I play that you find cool and you might be able to figure it out yourself! Tip 2 (pro ;) ): Premium Members (Couturians) get additional handouts that include MIDI files. With those you can animate and slow down as much as you want yourself. I've written a post about how to use MIDI for learning here, might you be interested ;): piano-couture.com/midi-a-comprehensive-guide-to-using-midi-for-learning-music/ Ps2 In our member area (Couturians' Lounge) there's also more lick-dedicated lessons. piano-couture.com/the-entertainer/lotw/ Hope this helps! Cheers, Coen
I didn't want to copy, I wanted to learn how to use the pentatonic scale. I knew the pentatonic scale before you taught but I dont know how to use it or the important of it. I want to learn about the scales.

Hi Lanysia, thanks for your comment and feedback! I'm sorry I went too fast for you. It's kind of difficult to go the exact right tempo for all different people and mixed levels that hang here on UA-cam :) I do have two reasons that might explain why I went a bit faster in this lesson: First of all, this lesson is taken as a sample from an Advanced course program and thus - besides it being aimed at the more advanced player - has lessons before it that lead up to this level / tempo. Secondly, it's not meant to copy per se, but more so to explain the concept (pentatonic scale) and how to use it. If you however DO wish to copy the licks I play to illustrate, I can highly advise to slow down the video! (sort of reason number 2b: I can easily go too slow for the more advanced players and become boring quite quickly. Going too fast however doesn't necessarily have to be a problem due to the "slow down" function UA-cam has! Just click the wheel at the bottom right of the video and select the speed you think is good for you :). I hope this helps! Cheers, Coen

why do you play so fast? teaching requires TEACHING so that students can follow, So many of you so called instructors seem to love to hear yourselves PLAY. We already KNOW you can play!
Hi L.G. My apologies for going too fast. The licks that I play (fast) in between in this video were improv and actually only meant to illustrate the overall concept and not to copy per se. If however you've found a lick you wish to copy, I can highly recommend UA-cam's "slow down" function. Simply click the wheel at the bottom left of the video player and select the speed you're comfortable with! :) Apart from that this is in fact a lesson taken from an Advanced Course program with lessons leading up to it and aimed at the somewhat more Advanced player who is already quite familiar with chords and major/minor scales. Regardless of that: Sorry for going to fast and thanks for your comment/feedback! :) Cheers, Coen.

Nice video. Would you be open to discussing proper fingering, or is that reserved for website members?
