Gen two got a lot of good bug types. They just needed better bug moves overall. Like buffing leech life in later games.

Also funny that I have horrible memories of bug types in gen 2. This was before the Internet was so prevalent so I never even knew how to get here across. Anyways my favorite Pokemon was syther and I couldn't wait to use scizzor, but I didn't have a link cable. At the time I also liked dragonflys, and was excited to try yanma.... But he was garbage.
I chose not to evolve scyther to not loose the stab on wing attack, yanma is good after it evolves, but it's two stab options aren't until after the elite 4 level cap
where you were smashing the rocks in the Ruins of alph, there are actually 2 more rocks you can smash right next to it. The building on the left has an opening you can walk through where the little lip sticks out and it will let you get to those other 2 rocks and the item behind them. You don't need surf to reach there. :)

Gen 1 was my original gen as well. Played gen 2 as well then didn't play again for 20 years. few years ago was at game stop and picked up a 3ds and Pokemon sun and moon (not ultra) after some initial shock. I fell in love with the games again. Now me and my daughter play scarlet and violet together.
So awesome, I love gen 3 and didn't play it until after I was an adult. Only have played to gen 6, legends and of coarse scarlet. Love them all
Blue Version was my first Pokemon game. I holed up an entire summer just playing it.
