  • ST. ALOISIO MINE IN COLLIO
The S. Aloisio Mine in Collio V.T. is part of the Trompia Valley Museum System and it is included in La Via del Ferro e delle Miniere (The Iron and Mining Route) itinerary.
Known as Italy's most important mine for the extraction of siderite, an iron ore, it closed definitively in 1984, following the progressive recession of mining activity since the 1930s. In the early 2000s, the site became part of the Museum System. Today it is possible to take two exciting exploratory and cognitive itineraries: Mining Trekking and Adventure Park. The first route, about 2 km long, unravels inside the underground galleries where it is possible to admire the fascinating natural scenery of the different geological formations. The second offers a real adventure among Tibetan bridges, Tyrolean footbridges and ladders.
MARZOLI MINE - PEZZAZE MINES MUSEUM
The Marzoli Mine in Pezzaze and the museum "The World of Miners and the Art of Iron" are part of the Trompia Valley Museum System and are included in La Via del Ferro e delle Miniere (The Iron and Mining Route) itinerary.
Open to the public since 1999, the museum site known as 'The Mines' is now a place of collective memory, and to enter it is to cross the threshold of a place where all the senses are ready to grasp every slightest variation.
The first opportunity to visit is to enter the bowels of the mountain by train, which allows the visitor a fascinating and unrepeatable experience. Thanks to the dark silhouettes that can be glimpsed in the side branches, moments of the miners' hard work are evoked. The 2011 refurbishment offers visual and sound reproductions that enrich the sensory experience.
The visit to the gallery is complemented by the museum space dedicated to "The World of the Miners and the Art of Iron", set up in the building once reserved for the service functions of the production activity and the mine employees. The museum consists of two sections dedicated respectively to the historical and scientific illustration of the mining reality of the place and to the iron works of sculptor Vittorio Piotti (1935-2000).
The video was made by Albatros Film as part of the PIC Geometrie di Valle project with the contribution of Regione Lombardia.
