- A short documentary on Slade from 2003, produced for Carlton Television's "Rock Legends" series (2002-03), presented by Noddy Holder. This episode was the last in the series and was broadcast on ITV1 Carlton (Central) on 12 December 2003. It features contributions from all four members of Slade (Noddy Holder, Jim Lea, Dave Hill and Don Powell) and a few others, namely Noel Gallagher and Keith Altham.
Slade were Beatles 2 .......they deserve all the plaudits that HAVE be aimed at them. For me Slade were the seventies, that still make me happy today, no one comes near them, they were all hero's Noddy because he created the lyrics . Jim because he was the musician - Don because he was Don and survived an horrific period and Dave because he was extravagant Dave . I miss them everyday and I'm 65..........no one comes close and no one has the charisma that they had ........love you you Slade, you made me happy, shame you aren't still around. For me no one comes close, thanks for the memories as they say !
Shame we''ll never get those days back. Today's kids have no idea what they missed.
Pipe down Smith
Slade in flame was the first album I ever bought, I’m now 61 years old and they are still one of the worlds best rock and roll bands of all time 🤟
I saw Slade at the Sunshine Inn, Asbury Park , New Jersey . ( now a parking lot , next to the Stone Pony ), 73 or 74 ..Absolutely the funnest band. I , ( we) ever saw. My cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling for weeks afterwards. I thought, that’s what rock and roll is supposed to be , big energy and big , loud , raucous FUN. I still listen to them all the time . Great drums , great guitars , out of this world bass and the greatest rock voice ever … that’s it .
Jealous
Saw them 10 times in concert & every time they were superb. Best gigs ever. I always had ringing in my ears for days after. I felt the noize alright!
David.. perfect character/mascot for the band, Don.. perfect drummer and temperament for the band, Noddy.. perfect frontman power house singer and songwriter, but Jim was their secret weapon resident musical genius. What a band
Don Powell, what a man !
Slade are eternal.
I will keep rocking till the day I die Nod😊❤
He did such a great job as the host and the star of the documentary.. such wonderful talented men!!
Fantastic songs these. Slade are brilliant.
Slade Alive. Best live album ever recorded.
I grew up with Slade fantastic band still have the first single i bought Cuz i love you amazing
Slade were brilliant band.....
Slade is unique 👏👏👏
slade were the best live band of the 70,s early 80,s with out a doubt, never got the credit they deserved, sadly never to be repeated,
Well, don't look now, but Greta Van Fleet is a band that reminds me of these guys. With their energy, just like Slade Go see these guys, you'll be impressed.
This way a joy to see memories of my teenage years 😊
Saw them, Chicago auditorium '74? They utterly rocked the place. Don and I came out with sore hands and feet, hoarse and half deaf. Great show, unforgettable . Noddy was awe inspiring, a master showman. What a voice! Great fun.
Awsome documentary…of one of rock history,s biggest band!
Great band , great music ! Yes I have seen them live yes in Poland in 1976 . It was a lot of fun .
Fantastic!!! Ty loads for this.. Massive Slade fan since a small boy in 1972 n met Nod for the first time ever recently at his brilliant show at The Lowry!.. still buzzin about that.. TY loads!! 🙌👍
No problem! That's great you've met Nod recently. I saw him at Wimborne last month. We didn't hang around to meet him afterwards, but it was a great show.
Fantastic group
Slade are definitely better in everything than The Who.
Brilliant! Simply Brilliant
Thanks 🥰
Great stuff.
Dave Hill to Jimmy Lea after Jim complained about one of his outfits, " Ok Jim, you write 'em I'll sell 'em! " No mention of the fab film Slade in Flame?
Что песня , то хит!!!👍👍👍
I was lucky to see them live five timesand meet them at peaches record store where they would put their hands and foot prints in cement .all happened in ST.LOUIS MO.😮😮
Jealous
❤❤❤
Nothing but respect for Noddy and Slade but several Band's/Artists had singles enter the charts straight at number 1 before Slade, The Beatles did it about 8 times!.
I hate it when it’s said slade are a Wolverhampton band Noddy is a Walsall boy born and bred.
🌺🌺🌹🏵
it’s ironic that come the 50th anniversary of Merry Christmas Everybody it’s now actually anti social to be having fun in your own home . a walk through the streets of our village with the dog at 10pm over the Xmas period is cast iron proof because you can hear a pin drop in all 4 corners 😐
That's the trouble now no family parties, no laughter, no good films or good anything, same mush that's on everyday, I the 70s and 80s you good things on telly
If your workin for the devil..don't say..bless u..it furnaces. Rock n Roll stay
О нодди так ты живой
I still can't help but think that if Slade had a better image (clothes/hair) and music that was longer than the few minutes designed for radio play, they could have gone farther than what they did. For me, Dave Hill's antics were an unnecessary distraction from the band. I always felt that they were driving with one foot on the brake. They had much more to give, but it never came. Can you imagine if Noddy really turned it loose? We can only dream.
Noel G who ???? Why he giving his, ruined it for me
Where's he now nowhere,
Grande Noddy❤
