This is how I started watching you last year. I watched the top riffs of the year. It’s crazy how it’s been a whole year since I’ve started watching this channel!!
2020 sucked but thank you for all the content you’ve put out this year Nic your guitar covers, song reactions and your own material has really helped me and I’m sure in making this year slightly more tolerable! Thanks man! 💜
bro, there were some BANGER riffs on Seether's new album, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum. Beg and the breakdown of Pride Before the Fall are some of my favorites
Great work. Also, I just saw the "Up next" is a video called "500 Heaviest Riffs" from four months ago. I completely missed that epic collection of riffs and I'll listen to all of it soon.

Agreed, and the drums on that song are killer. Still love that song as much now as I did when first heard it. Memento Mori & The Defiant are the Metal Songs of the Year for me.
I don't know when I first heard Resurrection Man on XM radio, I started windmilling in my car at a stop light only to see the driver next to me staring.
I know they aren't typically considered for something such as "heaviest riffs" but marigold off the new haken album (about the 1:10 mark) hits SO HARD. do yourself a favor and check it out
some suggestions from outside the core genres: caligulas horse - valkyrie, mors principium est - rebirth, alustrium - dark waters, protest the hero - all hands, haken - messiah complex
Not gonna lie, I would've put Protect the Land from System of a Down on here as well. The riff kicks ass and I'll honestly say that it's one of Daron Malakian's best
You missed Deicide - I am Abomination \m/ siiick album from this year. However, those riffs were siick too, GJ ;) I always end up discovering new bands with your vid xD
Imo it shouldn't go lower than that, this is where still many bands can pull off a good sound, but any lower and its just disgusting, some already struggle with F#

Such an underrated band with such good songs

@@drkstrnd well, Rogue is absolutely boring and unoriginal
@@drkstrnd Better Days wasn't a single and doesn't get mentioned as often as at least half the album, which is why I put it there.
Monarch is my fave from Greyview
The Defiant is underrated? Wow, that's my favorite song for 2020 for sure. But I love Trivium more than the average metalhead so...
So happy Doom music made it onto this list
Overall the year was pretty crap but at least there was some good new music.
This is probably the best year for score music since like 2012
many heavy
Yeah probably because everyone is staying inside in there guitar “lair” and making music because what else can you do
@@Deek1290 Just means hopefully late summer early fall of 2021 is going to be a banger time for concerts.
Great year for metal
2020 was all about breakdowns. Both mental and metal.
I can't believe you didn't put that riff at 2:31 in From the Sky by Protest the Hero in this video. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Even one riff from PTH would've been enough. There are so many great riffs on Palimsest yet none made it to Niks list. 🙄
I feel like this number should be bumped up to 100. There HAS to be more good riffs like these out there somewhere
he slept on While She Sleeps :')
I'm super surprised Sleeps Society wasn't in this tbh
So glad you put rogue in here... That band is way underappreciated
So happy you put Bury Tomorrow in this they really deserve more recognition
They're awesome!
It’s really sweet to watch you play a riff I wrote 🙏🏻 thnx for slidin us in there bubs much love.
Good to see some Diamond Construct love here. They're filling a Dealer shaped hole
Got a little excited that it was included hey, what a fuckin band
Filling a Dealer shaped hole and then some for me haha
I don't know about filling a dealer shaped hole but they have been a standout band for me this year
I just discovered them and im in love.
They're dope!
I didn’t think you’d go for the fast bit of 40 roll!!! Good work :)
"Mom, can we have Doomsday - Architects?"
"We have Doomsday - Architects at home"
Doomsday - Architects at home: 0:23
Anything in that tuning sounds like an Architects song, they pretty much own it.
Also 3:35
If I was the kid I wouldn't be complaining about the version at home in this scenario 🤷♂️
SOOO glad you put 40 roll on this. Chris is an absolute beast. My favorite song at the moment
God I can’t get over how good that guitar tone is
Meh
@St. Jimmy best thing on the market for suuureeeee
@St. Jimmy oh I know, I’m just saying it’s so sexy
Ola with the cheapest stuff makes better tones than me with the best
That Carcosa riff (5:56) just sounds like "I Speak Astronomy" by Jinjer. It's those two quick pulls that set me off
I was expecting “memento mori” but glad LoG made it, their album was really dope and enjoyable 🤘🏻
Dude Currents needs more love, they constantly put out some serious bangers.
The only song by them that I don’t love is life//lost but otherwise they only put out bangers
Hell Yea I’m friends with the guitar player in Rogue, Jeffery is an awesome dude and player!!
I know, you are more like djenty boi, but gotta say that Protest the Hero Palimpsest has some awesome riffs
Indeed. Kinda odd not even made it. I wonder if Nik even listens to them.
Nik, you killed it as always and the fact you put Erra's new song up here made it even better. I know that was fun to learn. 😂
Sylosis, they got in right before the gates closed.
Lpl
Aha yup, love that riff!
Funking love sylosis their music just hits me right in the core
6:00 Carcosa - Absent: Post totally remembers me of Jinjer - I Speak Astronomy on the first part of that riff.
Definitely.

Nice to see Rouge on here.
My favorite type of Christmas music.
Architects looked at Pantera and said “Can I copy your homework” and Pantera said “Yeah just don’t make it too obvious”
I love the inclusion of a song from the Doom Eternal OST!! So many good riffs from that score 🤘
Hype to see power of the high on this list. Cane Hill is such an amazing band.
