It makes it feel as if they almost know each other as close friends and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I don't see that very often in other channels when they invite guests, so big props to y'all for being prepared.
It's really nice hearing him speaking the names of the food natively like how we would And also very lowkey show off our multilingual skill like the petai (malay), 冰沙(chinese), charsiew/wa dan ho (cantonese)
冰沙 (Chinese) should be 冰沙 (Mandarin)* meaning 华语/普通话, since Cantonese is a Chinese/Sinitic language as well, like Mandarin. It's an understandable mistake, cuz in Malaysia we Chinese colloquially refer to the Mandarin language as Chinese as well & refer to other Chinese languages as 'dialects' (方言).
"soft-shell crab" is actually any crab that just recently molted. there is a period of time between removal of old carapace and hardening of new one since they can't make a new bigger one inside old smaller one. In nature, these crabs would be in hiding until their shells are hardened.
@@sigasana441 mostly they are caught and kept in farm until they molt, then they are remove from water before the shell can harden. Apparently, though, there are some "farm" that try to speed up the molting by remove crab's limb(s), since molting is also what allow some crab to regenerate lost limbs.

Finally seeing Malaysia having the attention on Jolly! Can't wait to see Josh and Ollie experience the full Malaysia food culture! On a side note, not all Malaysians enjoy the smelly beans "Petai' as well. If its one thing that is stronger than durian, it definitely has to be petai.

I'm glad Josh and Ollie enjoyed our food and am so down for the idea of uncle Nigel showing Jolly to Malaysian food. Much love
Me and my whole family are European (living in New Zealand) but my mother grew up in Malaysia, so I always grew up with the food, and even went to Malaysia with her for a reunion. I am so glad to see you guys enjoying Malaysian food! Makes me so nostalgic!! Hope you try out some more, or even go there!
Love this episode! I can't believe Josh and Olly had never tried Malaysian dishes before! I believe my father and his business partners had one of the first few Malaysian restaurants in London in the mid-70's, called, "Rasa Malaya", in Bayswater. We had stars like, Tom Baker, Lulu, Richard Branson come and dine there.
whilst true that Malaysian food has been around in the UK, particularly London for quite a while now, and I've eaten it quite a bit in my time spent there, it's still overshadowed by food from countries like Thailand, etc. Hope more people learn more about our food and country as I feel we are still not marketed overseas as well as our neighbours.

have you not seen all the THIRSTY comments about Uncle Roger when he was wearing a sleeveless shirt. XDDD
Nigel is the hottest!!! I love him!
How did i miss this video and watching it a year later after its released
I'm so pumped and happy that you've done a video with Uncle Roger and especially so that you've tried Malaysian food! As a Malaysian-Chinese living in Australia, I was well pleased seeing you try the food I love the most!
“No peanut allergy? How refreshing” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I felt attacked hahahah
Finally some kind of actual Malaysian representation in the Jolly community🥰🥰 Loved this so much!
I'm from Malaysia as well, and I've watched the students to try the buldak. There's a spicy noodle in Malaysia also, it's called Mamee Ghost Pepper noodles, I wanna see the boys try this lol, even though it's not korean. And I hope you guys collab with uncle Roger!!
Quote of the Day: “We work hard to not eat at Nando’s again.”
Nando's is King
I’m Singaporean. And nandos is terrible.... even hawker centre chicken is better.
Bro i swear i have had some good chicken but i still love nandos
istg man i see you everywhere, from indian standup to jolly, nice to have someone with almos the same feed
@@ssummerdew all my homies like arnold's over nando
watching josh and ollie's mind get blown instead of blowing other people's minds with korean food is incredibly satisfying especially since it's malaysian food
"the Uber was bumpy" I WAS LAUGHING FOR 5 MINUTES STRAIGHT
It gave the small doge and buff doge meme energy
That was such an awesome vid, nice to see Uncle Roger as himself. Would definitely watch you guys in both Malaysia and Korea. Cheers boys.
The collab we never expected but the one we needed
Fr fr
Ikrr I was just mumbling this in my head 😂
Best collab this year?🤣

So true
Nigel's reaction to Ollie's British palate is a huge mood. Malaysians are all about spices and flavours.
Lots of us Brits also like spice & flavour, not everyone of us here have a British palate
This video was so needed, thank you. I had the worst month ever. My uncle died of cancer, my boyfriend broke up with me, my parents are getting divorced and I can barely keep up with University and work. I really needed a damn break and a laugh
Edit: I'm tearing up because of all the kind comments ❤ Thank you all so much! Just when I thought no one cared.
Hope you have better days ahead! Hang in there 🍀🌟
So sorry to here that! You're so strong. Even though I don't know you, I'm thinking of you and sending prayers to you and your family. You're not alone in this.
I am so sorry for everything you had to go through, sending you a big hug!!
I wish you the best! Take care
Hugs sent
What I love is that Josh and Olly both did some background research on Nigel so they would have stuff to talk about. It makes it feel as if they almost know each other as close friends and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I don't see that very often in other channels when they invite guests, so big props to y'all for being prepared.
It's really nice hearing him speaking the names of the food natively like how we would
And also very lowkey show off our multilingual skill like the petai (malay), 冰沙(chinese), charsiew/wa dan ho (cantonese)
can i ask.. what is thay Chinese noddle punya name.. it looks delicious
@@amlnqd5102 滑旦河
today i learned its not Sat-tai, but Sat-tey
@@RednaxelaPH its sa tey but yeah pronunciations is a different world :p
冰沙 (Chinese) should be 冰沙 (Mandarin)* meaning 华语/普通话, since Cantonese is a Chinese/Sinitic language as well, like Mandarin. It's an understandable mistake, cuz in Malaysia we Chinese colloquially refer to the Mandarin language as Chinese as well & refer to other Chinese languages as 'dialects' (方言).
As a malaysian, I approve this episode of Jolly. As well as the future episodes of you three visiting Malaysia as well as Korea.
Sekian

never in my entire malaysian life expecting uncle roger with JOLLY plus why he’s actually looking good 🌚
It's due to his six pack he got through calisthenic ring
I wish Josh and Ollie is coming to malaysia soon!!! Wish to meet you guys hereeeee... ❤️❤️
"soft-shell crab" is actually any crab that just recently molted. there is a period of time between removal of old carapace and hardening of new one since they can't make a new bigger one inside old smaller one. In nature, these crabs would be in hiding until their shells are hardened.
You are correct!
Exactly
I thought they are genetically engineered to be soft shelled for human consumption. Turns out it’s not that dark (or is it?)
@@sigasana441 mostly they are caught and kept in farm until they molt, then they are remove from water before the shell can harden. Apparently, though, there are some "farm" that try to speed up the molting by remove crab's limb(s), since molting is also what allow some crab to regenerate lost limbs.
oh wow I didn't know that
"Wat dan hor 滑蛋河" is a CLASSIC! I rarely see people introduce this dish when they talk about Malaysian food. Thank you Uncle Roger and Jolly!! 💕
Who wanna see more of Nigel roasting Ollie?!
Up
Meeee
up
Please..
So mean but me! Haha
Forever thankful to be Chinese Malaysian. My mom makes the best Malay food. Very rarely do I eat at Malaysian restaurants because her food is always better lol.
Of course the ex british colony has an underlying bitterness for the brits😂
Gotta get back at the brits somehow hahaha
Lol
I'm not surprised at all by that
Josh: "Malaysian food, where have you been all my life?!"
Yup. finally!! Josh and Olly tasting Malaysian food!!!! have been watching korean Englishman and was amazed by the concept when i 1st watched, introducing Korean food to westerners. That time i actually left a comment saying they should try Malaysian food since they like Korean food (at least Josh, Olly is more on toast, maybe he can try Roti Canai, lol), the varieries of Malaysian food choice since we have malay, indian, chinese, fusion food. Now my dream come true. But there are much more to try, Jolly. cant wait for u all to try more Malaysian food
Actually they did tried 2 years ago, although instant noodles and snacks only. Hope they have chance go to mas and try all kind of foods like trevorjames did
Time to blow Ollie’s mind away with some spanking Hainanese Kaya Toast
just look at my pfp
So many contents to watch out for! Korean Englishman taking the most sought after personalities in Korea:
- Uncle Roger
- Fulham Highschool Boys
- Guvna and Barney
7:21 I'm Malaysian also but it really isn't that bad. Folks aren't dying from eating street food lol. Not sure about other countries though
as an Indonesian im just genuinely speechless with the super similiarity that both of our country has, im not gonna even start with the "who's country's first" thing cuz that'll be a never ending battle so before the indonesians come at uncle roger, im just gonna say we indonesians really respect you all malaysians and your cultures so let's stop comparing and start appreciating shall we🙂🙏🏻
sama, malah senang kalau ada makanan yang sama atau mirip jadi lebih banyak bahasan gak sih
Ughh pls!! Like we can be in a room maybe do an exchange taste of our foods omg a party, can yall imagine that??? That would be epic omg...
I'm European and I literally thought half of those recipes where from Indonesia
@@amibang3254 Malaysian here and YES PLEASE INDO FOODS ARE GREAT
as Indonesian I would like to thank you uncle Nigel for introducing nasi goreng and cendol to Josh and Ollie! Lets show the world how great our food are!
i love how Josh and Olly are always the ones introducing foods and cultures to other guests, and here we have Nigel introducing them Malaysian food! great to see how the tables turned and this is a collaboration i didn't see coming!
This is the earliest I’ve ever gotten to watch a video-
I haven’t watched you guys in so long and I appreciate all that you do. It helps keep all of us still in quarantine entertained and calmed during this stressful pandemic.
I just wanted to say that we love you Josh, Ollie, and to everyone who works on and are featured in these videos. ❤️
- Zach D.
I love how the KoreanEnglishmen are open to trying new Asian cuisines. Really appreciate you guys. Thank you Uncle Roger! :)
Sedaaaap! 🤤 As a half malaysian - chinese, seeing Jolly try some of my faves and hearing: "Where has Malaysian food been all my life!?" is just so great.
👋 All aboard the Jolly Roger trip
What is this sticker?

Jolly Roger I love it 😂😂
Josh seems to be enjoying and having the time of his life, just eating good food and laughing at Nigel's jokes. It's like every edit cut i see him digging through the dish, putting the spoon in his mouth and laughing joyfully. Such genuine happiness
It feels hilarious when josh says " Malaysian food, where have you been all my life". And remembering anyone that josh invite to eat korean food and said the same thing.
Maybe it's british thing 🤣
Some of the dishes are actually not Malaysian food though
@@elbertlim2872 a hillarious british thing hahaha
@@3SHINee really? I didn't paid much attention to it.
Nigel: Ollie's not used to things squirting in his mouth. OMG. That's so Uncle Roger. 😂
lowkey thought he was gonna say “sorry children” LMAOOO
love seeing how humble Nigel is, and their interactions seemed so much fun!
Finally seeing Malaysia having the attention on Jolly! Can't wait to see Josh and Ollie experience the full Malaysia food culture!
On a side note, not all Malaysians enjoy the smelly beans "Petai' as well. If its one thing that is stronger than durian, it definitely has to be petai.
... and the effect of after eating it is even more pronounced...
especially when you go to bathroom later on lol
be glad that it's not "jering". from its smell alone could likely make people pass out lol
A Malaysian here who can’t eat petai but of course eating durian like a champ. 😂
@@taengiu Supposedly, there is a way to neutralise the petai smell in your body. You eat terung (brinjal or aubergine) after eating petai...try it the next time.
istg uncle roger’s humor is A++++ and seeing him roasting josh and ollie is so funny. this collab would be so 🔥🔥🔥 can’t wait
So great to have some of Uncle Roger's backstory! Nice line in sarcasm too. My only experience of Malaysian food is the Dutch rice table. Talk about bland. This food looks delicious.
I love how Josh says "Ohhkay" when he can't handle a joke that just makes the moment 100% more funny lmao
completely irrelevant with your comment but... i can't help but notice changkyun
@@stephany_m xD He is hard not to spot
So true! Lol
This time Josh was saying "okay" to more than just Ollie 😆 He was outnumbered!
Poor Ollie. I am fully over here appreciating your will to keep it together this entire interview.
Uncle Roger + Uncle Ollie = the chaotic uncles 🤣🤣🤣
Really like the Uncle Roger character, great dynamics with Josh and Ollie....hope there is a collab, I'll have to look for one.
7:38 Ollie's struggle to pick up the stray noodles hanging off his plate 😅
7:40 and ends up just lifting them up with his fingers 😂

Ollie's chopstick skill at its finest😂
I loved the part when Nigel mentions, " wait till you see the desserts, 3 things!"

It's nice to see once in a while that Josh is the one being introduced and amazed by the food although he says it's the best he ever try a lot 😂😂
Yes 🙌! Uncle Roger doing a collab with Jolly 👍🏼
THE COLLAB WE DIDN'T KNOW WE NEEDED - please come to Malaysia when you can
Lemme just sayyyy, Nigel's sense of humour is topnooootch 🤣
It would seriously be nice to see them in Malaysia. As a Malaysian, I'm happy to see that our local fool are introduced in this video. When it comes to food and fusion food, we Malaysians won't lose to top cuisines that easily! 😋
wow i had no idea nigel ng had such a rough time during the pandemic, i'm even happier to be supporting him now!
We need more Uncle Roger and Olly collabs. The chemistry was 🔥.
Ollie: "I'm a bit car sick, I don't really feel like eating anything."
Also Ollie: "Oh, this is amazing!" (eats some of everything).
The wonders of motion sickness.
Love the Malaysian representation. All the classics too!
I've always been curious how Josh and Ollie would react to Malaysian food as I, (like every Malaysian, very passionate about our food) find that Malaysian food is on equal playing ground with Korean food.
I'm glad Josh and Ollie enjoyed our food and am so down for the idea of uncle Nigel showing Jolly to Malaysian food.
Much love
As an Indonesian, seeing Malaysian dishess are the same was like,
"That's what I'm talking about bro" *fistbump*
Shoutout to Paman Roger!
Who care. Came from..
As a malaysian, I feel really proud and happy as f seeing Ollie and Josh liking our local food. ❤❤

How can you not Malaysian food is such a good fusion of everything around Asia
Hi, I'm from Malaysia. Im so proud that Josh and Ollie had try our Malaysian food. Malaysia had many wonderful food to try. So hopefully, both of you had the chance to visit Malaysia. And Uncle Roger, thx for introducing our Malaysian food to them. 'Terima Kasih'❤
