I live in Florida and my wife was able to use my DeWalt under hood light in the house when the power went out during the last hurricane. I have about 16 of the 9.6AH batteries. The power was only out for 2 days so she didn’t even use one whole battery.
Wanted to see what this looked like in use, and you did NOT disappoint! Nor did the light for that matter. I'm fully invested in DeWalt so this would be a perfect addition, although I'm out of space in my truck AND toolbox 🤣. Seems it's really hot in the market - most places are out of stock 😭
Just to let you and anyone else who wants to know, Dewalt i think will be bringing out a new mid torque and high torque impact wrench next year. So keep an eye out for that.
The motion sensor is the bigger deal for me, though I’m not paying 310 for that! The detachable auxiliary flashlight is just a small internal battery that charges off an expensive external battery… so you can wear out TWO for a task better suited to a freebie flashlight. It’s nice to have an overhead place to stow your flashlight while you work. If I’m just sticking my freebie flashlights up there I might lose/leave one.
I currently have both. The dewalt is def brighter but it’s more a white light I kind of like the Milwaukee since it’s a natural tone of light less strain on your eyes
From a UA-cam perspective the DeWalt is far superior to the Milwaukee because it's NOT PWMing the LEDs on high and thus compatible with filming. The dewalt on low and the milwaukee on high and low both flicker the footage. Glad I have the dewalt in the mail and on the way - made way more sense than the M12 for run time and brightness reasons, too, as well as the flexible shape meaning "not just cars". Cheers :-)
I also use my hood light for interior work. I hook it on the heads of both front seats so the light is shining behind me toward the dash. I want this light but I don’t want to invest in more batteries and chargers 🤣 it gets crowded real quick when it comes to chargers.
Same its a game changer when removing a dashboard. I would stick with whatever brand you have more batteries for, I only got it since Im stacked with batteries at the house for dewalt.

The DeWALT DCL045 adds 12V Max support and 450 extra lumens over the Mac MCL045 but loses the motion sensor and detachable auxiliary flashlight. Compared to DeWALT, the Craftsman version loses 500 lumens, only supports V20 Max batteries, and can’t turn off one side. It’s missing the motions sensor and aux flashlight too.

folding action is cool, but the platic gears I hear in the center you bend it sounds fragile.
Maybe, I guess well have to wait and see. My dewalt weed wacker is on a similar folding system so far so good 7 months in.
The craftsman version is 37.00, clearance, doesn't have the feature to turn half off
Also 1200 lumens but the DeWALT DCL045’s 1700 lumens seems excessive anyway. Even the Mac Tools MC045 only has 1350 lumens.

Good point. …and if your room lights flicker when recording this could help reduce it.
