Very cool the last video I watched about the soma ether I just thought it sounded like a broken radio and while this still sounds like a radio this sounds lush
Great track, minimalistic driving and dark! Going to buy the pack. Love that you will be making more of these video's again. Always a true inspiration to watch. Thank you!
@@Davemech your track is on repeat I have to purchase it and track it to a nice Maxell type 1 cassette, for bass and airy trebles, if it’s okay? 🤩 much love
Very, very nice! The Digitakt display makes it easy to understand how you're manipulating the sample sequences. Try a smoke alarm, they've got a fun sound too.
just unreal to watch Dave,i love your tracks as you know but this series and the above video in particular just shows how creative you can be if you have the mind and knowledge to use the tech that is around us .well as long as you are also very talented. will get it on BC soon as i can .brilliant and creative Dave.
Fantastic sample pack thanks - been wanting to try out these kinds of sounds for ages! Any chance of a video with practical tips on good practice creating loops, finding the key, modulating sounds to create builds etc ? love your work even though I’m not into techno really - just love how you constantly evolve the sounds. Cheers
Really great, love it. Even bought the pack. But well, not getting anywhere really. Would love to see in a bit more detail how you did this. Also: Is this exclusively made from sounds of the pack? Cheers
Thanks for the support! Except for the kick (which is from my 'from dusk till dawn sample pack') all sounds are from that ether sample pack yes :). A tip: Try looping some of them or parts of them . Especially when there's some movement in them or rhythms. Program a kick in and shift starting point and length to find odd rhythms that you wouldn't otherwise find .
Thanks! It’s a zoom H5 with a dead cat (wind cap thingy). But it’s really just used as a recorder in this case. The device I used to pick up the electromagnetic fields is called SOMA Ether. Cheers
Many thanks yes I know the ether I saw a video a couple of weeks back and am in love just waiting for one to come in stock with the shop I use. I wondered what you recorded it into. I will get one of them too. Thanks so much. Track is brilliant. 👌
This is so exciting. Another adventure in sound with Soma. Thank goodness they have Dave to make sense of it for us in terms of transferring this into musicality and creative work. I have ordered one of these today. I don’t live anywhere near a city and my health is poor but I can sample things in the house. I still need to order Dave’s course. I’m too I’ll-disciplined, instead of buying gadgets I should buckle down to study with Dave. That’s definitely on my May to do list. 🤘🏻Dave you make me feel so untalented and lazy 😩
Thanks for the kind words dude. Ether is definitely also fun around the house! If you buy the course I hope you enjoy it and that it will help you on your way :). Definitely don't want you to feel that way. Do things at your own pace and just enjoy the process. ❤️
Love the video, but if I walk up to an ATM pointing an electronic device at it… the authorities are being called and I’ll be held until they can sort out the simple misunderstanding
Get the sample pack: davemech.live/samples-electromagnetic-waves-from-utrecht
Get the track: davemech.bandcamp.com/track/ethrec
I'm not sure how Soma pronounce it, but in English it's "Eether".
Wonderful device, thank you for the demo & the kicking track 😆
I always come back to this track, absolutely incredible. That fill at 8:45 is out of this world!
Thank you kindly ❤️🙏
That's some sort of dark sorcery going around here 🧙♂️🔮✨ brilliant! The concept and sound pallette fit perfectly into this project.
Thank you kindly!
Yeah the sounds it generates are super. Sometimes odd and ugly but a lot of the time it's wonderful
Very cool! Our surroundings emit so much information.
nice to hear tasteful techno alongside showcasing this great device. Thanks

Haha yeah it can sound like that for sure but there's interesting sounds to be found there. Filters are friends here
Quality content, as usual Dave.

Great track, minimalistic driving and dark!
Going to buy the pack.
Love that you will be making more of these video's again.
Always a true inspiration to watch. Thank you!
Thank you and thanks for the support! :) Yeah I'm really happy that I have more time now to create these. Time intensive but worth it
Wow. Love this track so much. Such a vibe!
A perfect device for the sample mangle master.
Love the track. Dark, moody. Just great.
Thanks Dan ❤️
I was planning on getting one of these for a future trip to Singapore, this gives me so many more ideas! Thanks!
Nice! Yeah it really is a wonderful world that you peak into with this :)
This is a great display of the Digitakt and the creative use of sampling EMPs. The track reminds me of the early works of Trentemøller. Great work!
Thank you! Big fan of his early work ☺️
@@Davemech your track is on repeat I have to purchase it and track it to a nice Maxell type 1 cassette, for bass and airy trebles, if it’s okay? 🤩 much love
Sick! 🔥🔥🔥

Try a smoke alarm, they've got a fun sound too.
Nice One Mr. Dave Mech! Love ya dark techno vibes. Greetings to the Netherlands
Awesome work. What sub- subgenre would you classify the track as? Thanks!
Thank you ! Not sure actually. Probably minimal techno or deep tech?
brilliant dave! love it

Thank you Andy, I appreciate your ongoing support!
Well done Dave!
this is really cool! I've seen other videos of people using this, but you seem to be able to get much more musical results.
Thank you ☺️

Damn cool!!🔥🔥🔥
Insane world
Right? Bizarre how much stuff flies around
SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cheers :)
Nice one!
instant techno. Nice
Wow so good!
Thanks man
Sounds brilliant! What was the kit and method you used to record your samples too? I see you got a big microphone did you use that ?
Thanks!
It’s a zoom H5 with a dead cat (wind cap thingy). But it’s really just used as a recorder in this case. The device I used to pick up the electromagnetic fields is called SOMA Ether. Cheers

Sooo goood
You are a wizard, just awesome!
Are you planning to make a sample pack from these sounds? I would be very interested!
Thank you! It's already a sample pack. Davemech.live/shop :)
Wtf this sound so good! Did you connect the ether to the little mixer (tascam I guess) in mono or stereo?:)
Thanks! Stereo but the samples are all mono. Actually used a broken cable where the right side crackled hehe.
@@Davemech nice haha thx !
My modular rig is a little jealous of the Ether...
Super cool! How do you hook it up for recording?
Thanks !
Field recorder :). In this case the Zoom H5
Connecting .
I want that thing

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck wat vet, I need dis 😨
Haha ja cool he
What earphones did you use for this field setup?
I use those for performing as well. Shure SE535
UUUUUUU!
i want this thing so bad....
actually i want both the things
Love the video, but if I walk up to an ATM pointing an electronic device at it… the authorities are being called and I’ll be held until they can sort out the simple misunderstanding
become ungovernable
Those were train ticket machines though so that's safe 😉
A sample misunderstanding
030-303!
this device looks so cool. also a good way to know when to don a tin foil hat
Did anyone, like the police, ask you what the hell you were doing?😂
😂 nope. In my sample & jam in Berlin video I do have a funny encounter like that though 😁
I will take your recordings from UA-cam … so that you know haha
Eh, Thanks for the support? ;)
Amazing stuff as usual dave!
