- Taking my wife for a ride from our cottage on the south shore of Manitoulin Island, over to Misery Bay Conservation Area. Along the way (20:49) we ran into a couple miles of freshly poured gravel that hadn't even been graded yet. This proved to be a challenge for the little CT125, but I kept my wife on the bike, and kept it upright the whole trip. There's not so much dialog on this ride, so enjoy the sights and sounds of Central Manitoulin on the Honda CT125.
The bike is virtually stock, including the tires. I don't think knobbys would have done much good for this gravel either. I've found the stock tires to be surprisingly effective, on-road or off. Obviously not designed for the extremes, but then neither is the bike itself. Trails, dirt, they're fine. Even mud, if there's a solid bottom, the tires are fine. As knobbies can grab onto the dirt, I wonder if conversely, the dirt sometimes grabs onto the knobbies and can lead to unexpected changes in direction whereas the std tires just keep going in a straight line?
