My interpretation of the song:
So the girl pictured/singing is some sort of moth. She says that "they" talk about her, and "they" have friends who are entomologists. Entomologists study insects. So since she is an insect herself, I think the entomologists are studying her, to get to know her. And all the knowledge they have of her, they share it with others. Hence the line, "they talk about me." So they talk about her the way entomologists share information on insect specimens.
Later, it says, "they get in real close." They get in real close the way scientists/entomologists get real close to insect study insects, like with magnifying glasses and microscopes or just with their plain eyes. They get close to her to study her, so they can have more to talk about her behind her back.
And in the first part of the song, she says, "sallowing faces" leave her behind. Sallowed faces are just green/pale/unhealthy faces. And they leave her behind. But then the second time, she says "sallowing *bodies* crawling on all fours." So now their entire bodies are unhealthy and pale. I don't know why they're crawling though. And now instead of referring to their entomologist friends, she says that "they" themselves call themselves metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is the process in which insects transform from an immature stage to an adult form. If they refer to themselves as a transformation of physical maturity, that means that their sallowed *bodies* are an upgrade from their previous swallowed *faces*. They wanted to become more swallowed, more unhealthy. I'm not sure what the crawling on all fours thing is about though.
Neither am I sure about the whole infestations and dream parts in the chorus lines.
Just what I think. Let me know what you think. Also she might be related or is the moth from Honey I'm Home.

I still hit the deer and then my entire family disowned me, so I went home to pick up my stuff, but it turns out a locally infamous burglar dressed as Mike Pence tried to steal everything we own, including a package of Jolly Ranchers that was so old we had started treating it like my little sibling. Dude unwrapped an amorphous grape blob and thought it would be a good idea to put that thing in his mouth. Anyways, that's how we found several dead bodies in our wall in the middle of a fine autumn evening. Some had even finished the decaying process and had become skeletons, presumably before we moved in, as they looked older than my Grand Step-Uncle George who Mom always warned us not to talk to. The moral of the story is to respect life in all its forms, lest your own be destroyed by a suspect treat in the blink of an eye. Don't make my mistakes, save yourself.
Edit: I forgot to tell you my Dad put the deer's neck in our crockpot overnight and the meat was tender and tasty enough that my family spared my life, merely demanding my left ear and my right eye in compensation.

If you make the connection between Dangarnonpa and Ghost, almost all of the songs sound like something Junko could have written about the other students or herself. Distortionist fits Izuru, with how Junko distorted his image. COLORBARS Ryouta, as much as I loathe to mention the anime. Amygdala's rag doll for Kibo. Chattering lack of common sense Kaede and Shuichi, somewhat. Candle Queen for Celeste, definitely. Appetite of a people-pleaser could be seen as related to the cast of V3 or Junko, maybe before she became Ultimate Despair. The Things That I deserve definitely suits her. The original song had a really interesting mood that resonated with me, but I agree that this makes for a better, more "sustained" song over all. It has some really awesome tension to it. There's a very...haunting sense about it, but it also feels like "trudging forward." It doesn't feel like you've lost control, but it feels like someone else is in control. If that makes any sense.
The original song felt like a spooky, foreboding omen of what's to come. Like a soundtrack piece. This feels like "we're getting into the real shit now." An incredible pay-off.
The first one looked like the actual thoughts of Miku. The second one looks like how we see Miku- becoming paranoid . The second one sounds... saddening... to me? Maybe the use of minor notes in the chorus?
this song brought to me the idea, that not all songs have to have a deeper meaning. originally i thought this song was about a girl whose boyfriend messed her up and then laughed about with his friends, hence the "entomologists" and the repeated lyrics about a distorted world. But, upon zooming out, honestly it's just about a bug under inspection. :I don't get me wrong, i absolutely love this, just not every song has to mean something. :]
The way I see it, in situations such as these, there's three layers to be utilized in analyses;
1. Presented: The things that are explicitly shown/said,
2. Nonfigurative: The actual, literal story presented by layer 1, possibly obscured by mystery,
3. Figurative: The overarching literary themes, metaphors, and analogies conveyed by layer 2 through the lens of layer 1.
In this case, the NonFig. may be about an intelligent moth under inspection, kept in poor(?), conditions without a sense of privacy, causing Moth-Miku to have nightmares, while the scientists inspecting the bug are slowly being poisoned and driven mad due to obsession + unexpected consequences of handling this particular species of moth for extended amounts of time.
The Fig. may be something rather close to what you said.
or maybe it's all just a dream from a normal, human Miku caused by rumors and paranoia, who knows
The inspected bug is the metaphor through which the former idea was described.
At least to my ears it sounds like someone is constantly gaslit into Pursuing something they don’t want, to the point where their view of everyone but themselves has altered. The metamorphosis being that of how extreme the manipulation has become and how far the people around them are willing to go to achieve their goals.
Or in other words.
The singer is in a cult.
That is kind of the hard to articulate beauty of _Art_ . The mind goes through interesting patterns to create a piece of art from many sources and "things", and just as easily the final product can and will be received and "digested" very differently among many people. Maybe this comment just highlights your discovery of a different way for you to engage and digest a song. I dont know, but I hope it leads you to better appreciate life all the same : )
Personally I admire the folks who feel compelled to share their views and their interpretations, there is art they like and it still moves them, I hope. But in my own attempts to form my own artwork, what a songs tone and lyrics inspire in my mind is increasingly out of context outside of the stories and ideas I privately build. So I just vibe to the song and the strange worlds it stirs in my mind as I attempt to string some kind of digestible sense between the visions!

I LOVE Entomology! I don't practice I just read about it mostly, but I have a lot of respect for people in that field. Insects are wonderful, beautiful, bizarre and wild
