Guess what? I’m clean out of footage this week, so I dug deep through my archives to find some clips from a Delta MD88 flight from 2018 that I never did anything with.
Anyway, with the retirement of the Delta MD88 less than a year away, this ended up being a perfect opportunity to say goodbye to the old gal. It was just a short hop from West Palm Beach (PBI) to Atlanta (ATL), but it was fun nonetheless and I’m glad that I was able to do something with this footage.
I had seat 31E for this one hour and twenty minute flight, and the aircraft registration was N950DL.

I vote for more San Spotter cat videos.
💯💯💯💯
Give me those cat vids.
Yes me to
Wow, 51 likes! Thinking maybe I should change my name to CATspotter. 😄
stop
Of course we’re watching, Scott! Nice job... 😉
Wow! You really are watching! Just checking. 👋🏻😁
0:40 Yes. So. As a cat person, that is a hard choice. Can't we have both? Who takes care of the kitty when you are gone?
1:48 Not bored at all, I was a bit worried about you not making any new videos for a second though. Fill up zhe barrel!
5:14 Return to cabin?
Scott's parents, are you reading this?
Hi from the Netherlands!
Haha, another vote for more cat videos. 😁 thankfully she stays home with family when I’m traveling, so it’s not that bad for her.

737: *Nothing*
MD-80s and 90S "*Chuckles* I'm in danger"
Pretty much 😂
I’d take MD-80/99/90/717 over a 737 any day. Those 737’s are the most uncomfortable planes on the planet
@@jimmygee3219 who wouldn't?
I know you mentioned us probably being bored many times in the video, but I felt the complete opposite. Very interesting to watch and nice lil bits of humour every now and then makes your videos very engaging. Thanks SanSpotter, we all love your videos 😁✈️
Thank you for another excellent even if delayed video on the MD-88! Cannot wait for the cross Pacific reviews. Stay safe Scott.
You: Why are you still watching?
Me: *_It's a MadDog, bro!_*
It is going to be unfortunate to see the Delta MD-88s and MD-90s go!
I wish they would do a *farewell tour* of them like the 747-400!
Anyways nice video man!
Thanks man!
Awesome review! Safe travels
Thanks so much!
Gonna miss those JT8Ds. And that buzzing sound you can hear when the PA comes on.
Me too
Same
An oldie but a goody !! Thanks for sharing this flight mate....as always well done !!
Thanks Craig. Hope all is well with you down there in Australia!
Situation has calmed down a lot some areas are now flooded !!
Awesome video like always. I need to fly the MD-80's one last time before their farewell.
I never liked MD- 80s. However the MD-90 looked good with it's RR engines
I work at airport and get to see and hear these bad boys every morning. They are super loud. U can feel the power even when I'm inside.
I've been on a MD-88 from ATL to BUF, and I loved the service shame they are retiring
These domestic flight reports aren’t bad. Heck, there are those of us who like them.
Who knew??
Domestic flight report videos are definitely much easier. Maybe I should do more? 🤔
@@sanspotter How about going to smaller US airports? We keep on seeing the Chicagos….JFK....LAX....How about some of those that are off the dusty trail?
Great video, Scott. Never tire of the MD-88's of the world.
Thanks Michael!
That’s so sad! I loved the Brutal J8TD sound. I hate that they might be gone soon
The final flight for the MD-88 is June 2nd from IAH-ATL and the final MD-90 flight is from IAD-ATL on June 2nd
I flew a MD-88 today CLE-ATL, first time on one and I will say it was a comfortable and smooth ride! Glad I got to ride one The seats were more comfy than on the 737-800 I took on my next leg
Man I wish I can fly a Delta MD-88 or MD-90 but well, school just has to break the fun apart. Oh well glad to see some of your old footage Scott.
1) Yes, I'm still watching.
2) Delta = Biscoff ..... Always ... with coffee. Always.
3) ATL economy class? Cafe Intermezzo. Sitdown full service with flight line views. Concourse B near the TGI fridays. Can cost less than McDonnalds good food, good beer. Did I mention the flight line view? Give yourself an extra hour on your economy layovers.
4) I'm eating a salmon salad sandwich.
Thanks Andrew! I liked all three points except for the last one. Why aren’t you eating a Healthwhich instead? 😁
I was fortunate to fly a MD-88 from Atlanta to Chicago in September en route from Miami. A great flight back in time.
after seeing PBI’s renovations, i’m so excited to fly on march! i haven’t flown since july and i’m very excited to see what has changed. good trip report, i’d love to see more from you
The MD88 is still going out of Toronto to Atlanta a few times a day
And the last flight for the Transat A310 is April 27th 2020 on a round trip flight from YQB(Québec City) to CDG(Paris Charles de-Gaulle)
Superb video SAN Spotter
Thanks!
Going to miss them, never had any complaints
Delta is the best. Flying them OMA-PIH next month. Flew what was probably my last MD-88 flight last year OMA-ATL last year. Love the NOISE! Great video, btw.
Two of my favorite things the MD 80 and DELTA
nice vid as always
Thanks Jordi!
Flew a MD-88 once, from ATL to CLT when I was flying from Charlotte to Spokane and back. Flew to ATL on the way to GEG on a DC-9.
Hoping to be doing a presentation in Miami in September or October and hoping to fly not only the MD-88 out of Des Moines but also the MD-90, 717, A321 and A220 for the first time.
Some of us/ many of us love airline reviews. Maybe airlines reviews and the way they handle pet travel?
"I'm whiter then white bread and have very delicate skin" - Closing the window shade was worth that quote in my opinion....also now subbing! and R,I,P MD 88/ DC9
At least the MD90/717 are still flying with them but not for long
the MD-90 will be gone soon, but delta stated that the 717 will be with them for at least 2030, so the Dc-9 legacy might live for a little bit more
As a tip, Delta still flys these between SYR, AVP, and TYS on select days to ATL. Might be a last chance to catch a flight on one and they're being replaced with 717s and 737s
great post, go on, I'm just at the beginning
Nice as always!
This is actually an amazing review, the MD-88 is such a workhorse and a beauty to fly! I would have never thought of this as boring given our these will be phased out. Pretty rare review!
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it!
Had my first flight on any DC9 related plane was August last year on s ATL - BWI flight with an MD,-88
These workhorses were fantastic but it was time to go.I have flown with Alitalia's MD90 and it was a real pleasure.Great video
Delta will by flying the MD88 to Providence from Atlanta until October 31, so som routes still give you time. :)
Glad to see you flying from my home airport.
PBI is great!
I'm in England and 2 years ago I flew with Delta from London Heathrow to Santiago, Chile via Atlanta, and I have to say I couldn't fault them at all.
Same I’m from England
I flew on an md88 from Atlanta to Birmingham right before Thanksgiving 2019, 27min flight.
It's so entertaining to watch your videos! 😀
Thanks Rob! Glad to keep you entertained. 😁😁
Like the cat at the end! Nice video Scott!
Thanks man! Perhaps she’ll make another appearance…
I flew on a MD-90 from ATL to BWI..... one of the best and smoothest flights ever. Actually we arrived 30 mins ahead of schedule.
Nice 👍
Choice between pretzels and Biscoff cookies? No choice. Always Biscoff.
Many years ago, I was able to fly on the DC-9s of Northwest Airlines before Delta bought them out. Wish I could get on a MD-88 just once before they're gone.
This was the first plane, I ever went on!
Got on 3 MD88s in 2019, PNS-ATL, ATL-JAN, and ATL-JAX and so far 1 in 2020 from JAX-ATL. Plan on getting on as many as I can.
I'm glad 88s still go to PNS. Not as often as they used to. I remember the days when it was all 88s and 90s going in with the occasional 757.
MD88Pilot me too, plan on flying to PNS in June again but will most likely be MD90 instead of 88 this time which is fine
Hey Scott, love your work! Can you tell me the microphone you use to record your voice over? I really like the quality and I would like to use it for my channel as well
Thanks Sho! I use a Rode mic for my voiceovers - I’m traveling at the moment and I can’t remember the model number exactly so please do remind me again in a few days and I’ll let you know when I get home.
Yes of course we're watching! Also, bonus videos of your cat would be amazing 😍😍😍
Haha, yeah I definitely have to find a way to incorporate her into more videos.😂
@@sanspotter yes! She's beautiful 😍😍
I usually get lucky going from GSO to ATL. It’s a popular MD-80 route. Unfortunately I’m sure the 717s and A220s will take over that route soon...
Hey Scott I would love you to make a video on air India its going out of business soon !!!!!
I tried once, but they canceled the flight and I had to take a different one. I’ll definitely try again soon!
Can you do a review on an American 787 or 777 long haul
I’ve been meaning to. Hopefully soon!
I will flying to Atlanta from DC on an MD-88. I wasn’t too excited flying on a 30-40 yr old aircraft but for historical purposes I guess it’s ok...
Mad Dog!!!
Sorry cannot help myself
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
-Vader
Haha. 😂
Going on one tomorrow!
Enjoy it! 👍🏻👍🏻
Singapore Airlines isn't starting SAN service right? Is that just a map of where you going not where you are flying through?
It’s kind of hard to see on the map, but that is SIN-LAX.
Delta is on record saying it's tough to beat the numbers on a paid for MD. Think the 220 maybe the go to replacement for many of them.
Such a silly video - I love your sense of humor, Scott. Yes, I watched all 541 seconds of your video.
Love the md-80 probably going down as the best plane ever
Great old content. Love the extra sarcasm
BLECK---OATMEAL--YUCK!!!! Lol 😂😂😂. But in all honesty, great video man. It’s sad to see the MD-88’s go, but at least we still have the Boeing 717 which is somewhat similar.
I watched to the end Scott!!!! humour level up to usual high standards...thanks
When this jets retire the Md80s and 90s legend will never die Memory Eternal.
I'm so sad!!!!! I've never gotten a chance to ever fly on an MD-80, and I probably never will because the MD-80 is being retired, and I'm only 14 as of 1/21/20! I will definitely miss the MD-80 when it's gone!😭😭😭
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, I was on a MD-90 when I was 11.
Delta still has 75 MD88/90s in service, you might still have time to catch one (:
@@Jack3md I sure hope so!
Call it a banana if you want to. It will always be a DC-9 to me. Fun fact: TWA'S configuration was 2-3. That cute cat would enjoy a lovely flight with you. First cabin of course...😼
Haha! She would definitely enjoy first class... as long as they served salmon...
@@sanspotter would have "organized" that for H E R !!!!!!! "My Company" had a delectable Salmon AND LOBSTER Service mostly out of LAX
wow the check in area at PBI has changed a lot since I was last there 7 months ago
now realizing this video was from 2018
Yeah, all that construction was a good thing!
Your kitty is so cute. Such big eyes. Where did you find it?
Thanks Zach! We got her from someone up in Sacramento. So hard to find a cat like this!
Does Delta have any MD 90s left? Great video Scott.
Yes. I have a scheduled flight on one February 9th.
Yes. I'll be flying on one February 9th from ATL to RIC.
Delta has 48 MD-88s left and 27 MD-90s
Thanks Stitch! Yep, they’ve still got a few…
Stick with scraping the barrel as you called it as personally I love this aircraft . My wife would also like the aircraft but maybe go for the cat videos lol funny story as I have a day off today from work to take the cat for his 6 monthly check up . She has her own business and leaves this to me as I’m merely a worker for an employee 😊 great work as always my friend 👍🇬🇧
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 As you can see here in the comment section, there’s been a lot of people asking for cat videos. I’m definitely going to have to do more of that. 😂
SANspotter I am a sucker for cat videos but don’t change the channel to CATspotter and that’s a polite request lol No honestly your channel brings a lot of Happiness to my London home 🏡 cheers sir
How do you record the boarding footage if you don’t mind my asking?
Nothing fancy actually - I just hold my GoPro in my hand. 👍🏻
SANspotter thanks!
Farewell MD-80(s). we will all miss you.
I watch to the end :)
I have flew on delta a few times and had entertainment system for every seat. I guess not for the md88. nice video btw
Thanks Jay!
You should fly SAS from LAX-CPH
(Los Angles to Copenhagen)
Ps: They fly their a340’s on that route
You can still catch an MD heading out of Savannah to Atlanta! Hate to see them go.
Cute Kitty!
I’m flying on 2 of them in a couple of weeks. I picked the flights purposely.
Dude, that lav is awesome. I flew on an Allegiant MD-80 a few years back that had a mirror on all walls of the lav. It was the most surreal thing I’d ever seen. Didn’t catch the registration so I’m not sure who the former owner was ☹️
Biscoff every time!!!!!!
Edit: I genuinely LOL’d very loudly at the seatbelt joke and laugh track around 8:00
Yes, I'm still watching.
Thanks John! 😁👍🏻
No overpriced chicken bowls in this series? Surprised
Haha - best comment so far. 😂 I know - this video desperately needed more chicken bowl!! 😄👍🏻
Kansas City to Atlanta still have MD-88 on Delta
I’ve got a MD-88 flight set for March 17, in 31E!
It’s a good seat - Enjoy the flight!
I have that exact same DVR from scientific Atlanta
Flying one in April ATL-GRR
I’m surprised that they will still be flying
Cat video sounds lit, please upload that too.
Were you in seat 31E or 31F? I believe you said both...
Amin Teh there’s no F on the md80
Yeah it was E.
Going on 4 flights on the md 88 and 90 in February.
Enjoy those flights!
But alot if those md88 will be replaced with the 717 soooooo same but different lol
Two less bins
It doesn’t have to be your last...😢❤️
I know, right? Maybe I could do it again…
They’re retiring the MD-88s? Damn.
Your lucky you went on this cause I only go in flying on holiday
Seven daily flights from Toronto (YYZ) to ATL.
Atl to PWM this August
Are you Scott from Norebbo?
If so. I love your templates
That’s me! And thanks. 😁
@@sanspotter When are you going to release another one. I'd love to see the Irkut MC-21
Also I have a channel as well
I do orders for aircraft, new airlines, and legacy carriers.
ua-cam.com/channels/KbSUR5DronIiTJkm6M08Hw.html
Dang Scott, if you hadn't said the video was from 2018, I would have said you are following me (or me you) around the country - first Hawaii (I was there last month) and now PBI. I just flew into PBI from LAX via ATL a few days ago, lol. I do like PBI also, it's a great airport. ETA: I'm also visiting a relative in West Palm Beach. Maybe she knows your parents? Lol.
Haha I’m not stalking you I promise! 👀😄 And maybe they *do* know each other... 😆
Now American has Biscoff cookies by the way.
