    My favorite thing about the Cybertruck is how much it upsets people for absolutely no good reason. Enjoy your ride, I’m sure it’s awesome to drive! I’ve got my eye on the Scouts since they look so good!

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  3 дні тому

      Ya, it’s definitely becoming infamous and or perhaps best described as polarizing! Those Scouts look AWESOME 💯. I’ve really enjoyed it … only having it for 4 days 😂 I’m sure there will be challenges. I’m going to ease into it and really try to keep it looking very stock over the years. The design element to me is like a brutalist architecture that met vehicle design. I’m one of the weird ones who loves how different it is. So unique. Thanks for watching and for the comment Rob! Appreciate you! 😀👊🏼🙏🏼💯 Happy New Year!

      @@Greghook that's not a good reason at all. If someone wants to spend their money on one, it doesn't affect anyone but the person buying it. That also doesn't explain how people get so triggered when they see someone driving one. We don't all get upset when we see someone driving a Ram TRX, even though it's a pointless truck that's only good for making a lot of noise.

    Just out of curiosity why did you choose this over the Rivian or Silverado EV?

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  3 дні тому +3

      Ya, I agree 100% - the build quality … seems good? AHHAAH, I say that and then something will fall off of it tomorrow! HA! Ya, I went with the Cybertruck I’d say for two main reasons: 1) the offer on lifetime unlimited supercharging put me over the top, and 2) the Full Self Driving (FSD supervised) really peaked my interest now that it’s out. If there was a 3rd reason, it’s probably that … it’s so different, I feel like it’s potentially the first of many vehicles that may start to have a more minimalist, industrial, brutalist look to them in their design, and I thought - you only live once! :) I love the Rivian, that would have been choice #2 for sure. The Silverado and or the Hummer would be in 3rd place for me, and that’s (perhaps foolishly) because those brands and names are more historically suited for Gas vehicles, whereas Rivian and Tesla are all EV. I’m not a die-hard EV guy by any means, but for me the dealer close to my house, and the supercharging network was where/why I landed with Tesla. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

      @@TrailNewbie I had deposits on all but the cyber truck (due to the vomiting) and dropped every one due to failed promises in pricing and capability. I then reserved the Scout Terra but things aren't looking that great for VW or the car industry as a whole. Honestly I have to avert my eyes when a CT drives by even when the gaps aren't horrible and the skin isn't wavy. The range is the worst of them unless you sacrifice a good portion of your cargo space and the squircle wheel is a no go for me. The only pro for the CT is the charging network and that's not enough for me given the Silverado EV having 400+ miles range and very fast charging for around $70K. TFL truck towed with both and the Chevy had double the CTs towing range and if you can only go 100 miles with a trailer it makes little sense for me.

      @TrailNewbie  3 дні тому

      @@curtshelp6170 Ya, you make a good point on the Silverado. Solid option, but I was mainly focused on Rivian and Tesla for the most part. The charging network, etc was indeed one of my main drivers - as well as the FSD. I think Tesla is well ahead in this technology and I’m sort of a nerd (early adopter) there with regard to being able to let the vehicle and technology do the driving. The look of the CT is truly … hideous. Not joking. But … I’m one of the weird ones that actually loves it. It’s so polarizing. I can’t even explain why I like it so much! 😊

    • @curtshelp6170
      @curtshelp6170 3 дні тому

      I’m the opposite, I’ll never trust a machine to drive for me and I consider the CT more of a flex or an art project by Musk. Had he used conventional materials and shapes he might have met his goals for range and price, and made quality control easier for his staff.

      Indeed, the Jeep content will be the majority in 2025... and … forever. 😂 There’s no doubt about it. 😊😅 The Jeep is highly superior from an off road capability standpoint. I’m a Jeep guy through-and-through! The Cybertruck will be an awesome contrast. The vehicles could not be more different. That’s for sure! I am not a traditional EV guy - I believe in having gas motors for life. But - - - this is a very interesting time we live in, and this presents an opportunity to really dig into the pros and cons. I am one of the weird ones that loves the utilitarian and brutalist design. The cold harsh, impersonal design - coupled with there being nothing beautiful about it is actually one of the things I really like. It’s hard to describe, but I do. 😊 Jeeps look awesome … a Cybertruck looks … I don’t even have words for it. 😂 Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

      Thank you for staying!! You are a long-time sub - so … you’re not allowed to leave! There were other perks too that I didn’t really describe in the video, but … I get what you are saying … the adoption of this truck has been really interesting. Only thing I can say (that I know is very hard to understand), I’m one of the weird ones that actually really loves the look. Elon is truly eccentric. While not diving into the political side of things - the innovation that he has brought to … well, earth 🌍 is truly remarkable. There will be a day when we won’t be thinking about his riches, or his politics, and really just having a realization that he is one of the craziest innovators in world history. That is becoming abundantly true day by day. With all of his past flaws - there is an exponential curve coming in the ares of robotics and space travel that cannot be overlooked. That’s what I’m really interested in, which goes well beyond vehicles. I hope the Cybertruck doesn’t dissuade you from watching the channel. 😊 I hope I can continue to make content that everyone can enjoy! Cheers and Happy New Year! He’s more than eccentric. He is an unhinged fascist. He’s “clever” at finding talent, relentless in pursuing ideas. He is at the helm of companies that have unquestionably produced groundbreaking tech. So did Steve Jobs.
      Musk has cracked and “left the reservation.”

      @@TrailNewbie Definitely put people's politics aside. I was born, raised and live in Detroit, Michigan. I do not own a Tesla or an EV. I do own a Starlink set-up for Overlanding/Camping>a game changer for me>works excellent. I think there is a lot of good to be said about a guy who started a car company a dozen years ago that is now, according to Wall Street worth more than all the other automakers on the planet combined. And has taken on the task of rescuing our astronauts left stranded by Boeing in space through his company Space X. Does Elon say controversial things and act a bit strange at times>yes. But, to me, he is still a Patriot, that is trying to make the world a better place. Have A Happy New Year!

      @@TrailNewbie Can’t wait. I have a CT and am an offroad newbie. I’m waiting for the CyberTent to get back in stock and then expect to do some camping. I am not interested in extreme rock crawling / high-degree-of-difficulty trails, but would love to see some content about what “moderate” trails the CT can handle comfortably versus situations / obstacles to avoid. I think the sweet spot for this kind of vehicle is shorter overlanding / camping trips on trails not accessible to road cars, but nothing too extreme.
      Also interested in issues of range and energy consumption while camping. In my brief experience so far, I find that you don’t tend to burn a lot of SOC while off-roading given the low speeds and frequent stops.
