to add to that Tuomas wrote the Song as a long lasting Fan of Patrick Rothfuss, the Edema Ruh are traveling Performers like the Gypsys of old, Tuomas often Told in the Interviews fro Endless Forms most beautyfull (there prior Album) that he often Thinks of the Band as Edema ruh (Nightwish beeing a touring band for 20 years) and so the Song is dedicated from there Composer to the band
This is probably my favourite Nightwish song. While I do enjoy this rendition I still hope they would play this some day on a big stage with the full sound and all members involved and we could get a professional live recording of it.
One of my favourite acoustic performances. This kind of stripped acoustic version truly shows how good they are. Real musicians. No room for gimmicks.👍
Ty for doing this so very underated song, it sounds so great. And Troy does sing also in Harvest the new single, in My Walden and The Carpenter and many backing vocals, although they do not show him so often on screen, they mostly show Marko and Floor, but according to Tuomas this is gonna change on the new album, then every chorus will be them 3 singing together in harmony, and btw Marko is the bassist, the one with the Uillean pipes is Troy :)
What a group huh? So often you have a band, but all people see is the lead singer, or at least that seems to be the most important. Floor is amazing!! But still she's a part of something also amazing. With Nightwish, we don't just see Floor. We see them all! They are all so important, and together they create something beautiful. Written by the one and only Tuomas but the rest of this band are all so involved into doing this together and they inspire each other to bring out the best of themselves but also give space for others to shine. It doesn't matter if they pull out everything, or keep it small like this. Everything they do is beautiful. If you like it slow, try "slow love slow" you'll love it too
This acoustic arrangement is wonderful, but you still ought to hear the full band and orchestra version! It is on the studio album EFMB. Never been performed live in full metal jacket.
On the songs Harvest (there is no live version yet, best pic the official lyric video) and The Carpenter (live at Buenos Aires) are giving you more of Troy singing. In My Walden he also songs a little bit...but mainly the intro
You nailed it! Edema Rue. This video was shot by a fan on the cruise and this was an impromptu little acoustic performance that these four did during off time on this cruise. That is why the video cut off at that point. This song is ostensibly about the Edema Ruh, a society of traveling bards in The Kingkiller Chronicle novel series by Patrick Rothfuss. Having no country to call their own, the Edema Ruh are travelers and entertainers with talents ranging far and wide, but most commonly involving storytelling, acting, and music. Tuomas loves this book series and thinks of Nightwish as the Edema Rue. Check out the studio version from Endless Forms Most Beautiful. It is really good. We are the Edema Ruh We know the songs the sirens sang See us dream every tale true The verse we leave with you will take you home
The performance was actually not an impromptu one, but a part of an acoustic session scheduled and advertised beforehand (for both of the cruises) as Marco and Troy playing acoustic covers of their favourite songs. Kai joined them for a few songs, and Floor for this one song. It is true that them playing Edema Ruh was a surprise not advertised beforehand, but judging by the fact that they did it exactly the same way on both of the cruises kind of reveals that it was planned beforehand. :)
@@villemarttila728 Thanks for the info. I was unaware. I had read somewhere that it was impromptu. My mistake. Were you lucky enough to be on one of these cruises?
@@Thorgrim247 I was actually lucky enough to be on both of them. 😄 Lots of Groundhog Day moments on the second one, as they were organised back to back with identical programme schedules. When my friends and I walked out of he ship after the first one, we didn't even leave the terminal but just turned straight to the departure lounge to queue for the next round. 😂
Tuomas keeps telling that CD1 of the upcoming album is very "Voice focused"... We already have a released song ("Harvest", you can check it, there's a lyrics video on YT) with Troy on the lead, we know that Marko also has one, and the other ones are told to be using A lOT of vocal harmonies between the 3 singers in the choruses. Only few days left to wait !!
You are right about what the drummer adds. But I guarantee that drummer, Kai, is not "looked over". He is probably the most technical drummer in metal and they were lucky to get him after Jukka had to stop performing. Kai gets lots of love! And Yukka was absolutely, incredibly, amazing. And it DOES go into a "last section". Let me see if I can find that version. Here ya' go! You can thank me later :) ua-cam.com/video/TvknFSTSO6A/v-deo.html
I really like the fact that four of them aren’t founding members of Nightwish. It’s as though Tuomas and Emppu “stepped out” as part of an inside joke.
Absolute worst version! Just type the music video.. pronounced Edee-ma-ruu Haven't seen seen anything on that ship worth a darn. Nightwish must've been drinking when they on for this. They're way too good!
The Edema Ruh are creators of music, plays, and stories with an abundant overflow of creativity. Adam in Hebrew means "man" and adamah means "earth/dust," God breathes his "ruh" into earth-formed Adam
The song is about a group of travelling performers in Patrick Rothfuss, Kingkiller Chronicles. Thata a fantasy book series

Their latest single, Harvest, Troy is the lead vocal with Floor backing.
Think Marko was in there too.
This is probably my favourite Nightwish song. While I do enjoy this rendition I still hope they would play this some day on a big stage with the full sound and all members involved and we could get a professional live recording of it.

This was beautiful. Could you imagine an acoustic Nightwish concert? I mean, all slow ballad sound songs that they have.
I love the harmonies with Troy and Marko added in.

I love the stripped back performance. I’m a sucker form their harmonies. 💕🤘
My favourite band too, their another level to anything else 🤘🤘
Nightwish is 15 years that is my favorite band. Before was Pink Floyd. Imagine how I love their music!
This is my favorite song from this album.

I love the book series. I need that third book already!
Love to reaction period 🤘
For a really good one of Troy singing you need to try the new one Harvest
Wellcome to the Army 👊
Tuomas has also sung lead male vocals for Nightwish back in the distant past.

They’re very special aren’t they.
I really like the fact that four of them aren’t founding members of Nightwish. It’s as though Tuomas and Emppu “stepped out” as part of an inside joke.
if you like to hear Troy sing find out Harvest the new Noghtwish single
Troy sings in Harvest. Second single from new album... 👍
You said the song title correctly haha!
Troy had also made his own musik. Latest album is The Madness of Crowds (2009)
It might interest you that Tuomas studied clarinet (as well as tenor saxophone, piano and music theory) at a music college when he was younger :)
Ohh that’s awesome!!
Edema = Greek "swelling"
Ruh = Persian "spirit"
"overflow of spirit"
Eh, you haven't looked at Harvest yet? From the new album m.ua-cam.com/video/Xy29T7LBM_I/v-deo.html
