Very great tutorial. I've been struggling with what you were talking about at the start of the video. Very flat and boring renders. Then helped a ton. Thank you very much.
wow, i've been using your products for some time now but never ran across your video tutorials. these are great. i had no idea it actually took longer to render in an enclosed space - guess i'm editing my current scene to fix that! cheers.
I really appreciate this tut. I just purchased your Starry Sky Lights... but I dont know how to use it lol. I have been away from 3D modeling/rendering for a few years... and i forgot it all lol.
Thank you for doing this night scene lighting tutorial. Lighting and I have become mortal enemies - but maybe now we can have a pow-wow and smoke the peace pipe. :-)
This is great! I'm still pretty much a noob with DS (I've been using Poser for about 9 years - still do mostly), but I love the results with the Iray rendering. I picked up several useful details in this tutorial. The lighting makes perfect sense. Great information!
Very good video !! But just to add, night time scenes are hard !! No matter how many spotlights, some scenes are too grainy, even after a long render. However, today, after pulling my hair out, figured out the problem !! Use a good hdri map for your environment in the render settings -environment tab !! A good place to get one was from HDRI Haven.com !!! I got a good night one, added to my environment and no more grainy picture !! Picture is perfect and render takes just a minute on my computer !! What caused the problem was that I set the environment to 0, and just used spotlights, and for my particular scene caused a lot of quality problems but getting a good hdri map solved my problem !!
Hi! and thank you very much for the video. I'm hoping you have some tips. When I model something in Blender and then take it into Daz Studio, when I hit CTRL + D it is either to high or to low and not on the floor. A certain online community that I sell with require it to be exactly on the floor. I know how to do the cursor to selected, origin to cursor and all that good stuff but sometimes it still isn't right in Daz Studio and either is to high or goes through the floor. Any tips or a video on how to make sure it will always be on the floor when importing it into Daz Studio?
In blender, select your item in object mode, and hit shift S. Choose cursor to center. If your item is already on the floor in Blender, you can then click "center to cursor" and now it is centered on the floor and should hit the ground correctly in Daz Studio. Misplacement on CTRL D almost always means your object center is out of place.

Thanks SickleYield for this tutorial. I will be sure to use lights in my next Render.
