Ok, a lot of you have requested this over the last few years, so finally, I have put a lesson together. Let's see if you guys watch it before I look at doing the solo's. Enjoy
Nice one sir!! , I've been playing this one for years, and you have nailed it. I can't wait for the solo, I've worked most of it out but I'm missing a few bits which I just make up, hehe thanks heaps for this song!👏
Awesome Troy! Much better than the campfire version I have been playing. PLEASE do the solo stuff! And for the whipper snappers that don't know this song, check it out, great aussie song with lyrics probably even more relevant today.... ua-cam.com/video/0zdGaprNKZw/v-deo.html
The solo to this song is quite tricky..I have a feeling that this Goanna guitarist has borrowed some ideas from Ronnie Wood playing the solos in Maggie May..seeing that both songs are in the key of D..Like robertormes2178 I have my "own" haha version of this solo..It will be interesting to see how my garage version stacks up against Troy's should he want to put us out of our misery..
Hi Troy - Love your work, you've helped me with a few songs. You are the go to guy for Aussie music. In the spirit of cooperation, I have some minor suggestions. All of this is subjective, and I'm sure he plays it differently every time. While he definitely uses a drop D tuning, I agree with you as I'm not sure how necessary that is. My suggestions, during the intro - the 3rd time to D he does a D triad on the 5th fret followed by an A triad on the 5th fret, back to open Em 7 followed by a stretched chord 7th A String, 4th D String Open G, with a double open high E then up to the 10th fret D triad, 9th A triad, 7th G triad. He also goes to an F#m leading into the the chorus [Em, F#m G]. This live version link confirms some of this. He seems to vary the A7 A7sus4, Em Em 7 randomly. I like to get songs close, but more in the spirit of than necessarily exact. Thanks again for your insights as they are most appreciated. ua-cam.com/video/djpBfSNl43k/v-deo.html
