Just wondering how those numbers are holding up after 6 years of service, or you still have the boat? I plan on painting my registration numbers on too, waiting for print shop to cut me up a pair of adhesive stencils, they do reg. decals and said they would do it for the same price. Did you do any mechanical or chemical prep to the surface? My boat is PVC and I'm thinking sand with 1000 grit and wipe down with acetone? My local hardware store carries vinyl paint, it's more money, but it could give me the best chance for longevity as I plan on frequent rollups. We here in British Columbia, Canada have to register all boats that are equipped with motors of 10HP and higher, registration can be done online at Transport Canada and it's free.
It is actually holding up pretty good. I do have to touch up on the chip and faded area once awhile. Very simple work. I did not sand the PVC surface. Good luck with your project! 👍
I found your video to be well made and seemed to cover all the bases. I'm going to use your method except the Krylon. My personal preference would be to use Rust-Oleum. I found the drip and over spray factor are less with this brand. Not gospel just my choice. I'm sure there are many options. Your choice got the job done which is what matters.Good job and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching my video. I sometime just used whatever I have on hand. There are definitely many ways to get things done. Good luck with your project.
Hi. Had a question. I need to put numbers on my TIWAL. It's high grade PVC and not hypalon so vinyl won't stick. How is that common paint holding up for you? Do you deflate it often? My boat deflates and I roll it up to put in my trunk so worried about the paint crinkling. One place told me they use "vinyl" paint. Thanks.
I always deflated my boat for storage. The paint mostly hold up fine over the years for me. Very easy and simple to touch up if needed. Good luck with your project! 👍
Sir, has the decal method experienced any trouble from law enforcement? I am a first time boater, and am struggling with decal installation. Please advise the best way for decal installation without worrying it comes off every time we inflate and deflate the boat. Love your tips!
Here in California you just need to meet the regulation requirement then you are all good. I have not have any problem so far. The letter print on my boat is still holding up after few years. I did touch up once awhile with a sharpie markers if I notice some little chip, but that is just cosmetic.
Last year I noticed some cracked paint after few years of use. It is easy enough to touch up and repaint to make it looks good again. Good luck with your project. 👍
Thanks for watching my video. Mine is 10 foot. I would recommend a bigger boat if you plan to have more than one person on the boat most of the time. Have fun.
How hard was it to register? Could you explain the process? I have been using my inflatable for over a year without CF numbers... Was told I may not be able to register it because it is a cheap Chinese made boat. It does have serial number though. Thank you in advance
It is hard if your local DMV office does not have experiences with inflatable boat. Find an office that is near major water and they should know what to do. In my case I just need to show them my regional purchase receipt and description of the boat. If the first office you try cannot help, don't give up, try a different one. I finally meet someone helpful in my third try. My boat is also made in China. Good luck.
@@epenaloza52 Normally you will need your boat purchase receipt, then go fill out a boat registration form and pay the registration fees in DMV. If you are in the area where boating is very common, the DMV office should have no problem to register your boat for you.
Thanks for watching my video. gonna try it myself

I just got my Intex Excursion 5 registered in California yesterday. Can't wait to get it on the lake! Thanks for tips on painting the CF number.
Jeff Fleck I have the same boat
What do I need to have it registered?
I was planning on getting an inflatable boat but didn't know I needed to have it register even if I'm just using the paddles
@@epenaloza52 you don't, just with a motor
@@strikerone6991 thank you I just recieved mine this past Monday can't wait to out this weekend

VHT makes a Vinyl DYE, which I have used for years on my inflatables. No touch-up needed, ever. It's great stuff!!!

Nice vid, very informative!
Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Do you think the paint will holdup ok with deflating and inflating all the time?
I have been using the boat for 10+ times since it is done, the paint is holding up just fine.
Hypergauge awesome thanks
Hypergauge do you deflate and fold the boat after each use?
hey how long is your boat. im debating whether to get a 7.5 foot dinghy with one bench or a 10 foot with 2 benches.

Same here I thought it was going to be hard but it was very simple I’m going out on the water tomorrow
Awesome job. What's the fee for inflatable boats in California? I'm planning to put a small electric motor on an Intex Mariner 4 boat.
The registration + all the other fees is about $60 a year. Not too bad as the boat is not very expensive.
I just got my Intex Excursion 5 registered yesterday and it cost me $157.
@@Fro-Daddy do you need to register it even tho you'll be using the paddles and don't plan on using any motors!?
@@epenaloza52 No, but trolling motor you do its 65 currently CA
Wow cali is crazy high with everything I see. Here it’s $33 for 3 years to register your boat. Wild.
Is it that I need to take to the dmv to get the registration?!
Here in California, any boat with any kind of motorized propulsion will need registration. Have fun and be safe out there.
@@HypergaugeDIY yes but what papers might you need in trying to get a trolling motor for my excursion 5

what type of paint did you use?
This is the spay paint used amzn.to/2OK64dM
That's crazy that make you register that
🙃 yup. Technically I will need to register if I put a little model boat motor on a float tube.
Nice
Do you need a boating license if you have no motor ?

Won't the sticker decals work
Thanks for watching my video. Sticker decals will not stick on surface especially when you deflate and inflate the boat often.
Put the sticker on your engine
That's a great idea. Is that legal?
can just use a permanent black marker
Are you require to have insurance
Thanks for watching my video. As I know there is no legal requirement to have insurance to operate a recreational boat in CA.
