This is definitely one of my favorite Star Wars vessels and for good reason: it looks iconic and well it's a flying fortress! I have always wanted and ISD-II. i've watched SO MUCH scifi in my lifetime, but i've always come back to the triangle of doom.

The models have always given me the impression that the Imperial I was built for long-range stand-off anti-capital ship operations and was intended on taking on peer enemy ships. The Imperial II, with the lighter-weight, faster-traversing main turrets featuring more but smaller turbolasers and higher volume of fire was better at engaging the smaller, more maneuverable ships of the rebellion. Not that it saved them.
I could see that comparison. However I would say that the ISD-2 removed all its point-defense weapons which didn’t help in its efforts against the Rebellion.
There is more than just a weapons loadout change when comparing the ISD 1 to the ISD 2, the ISD 2 also has a stronger hull and stronger deflector shields, improved sensors and targeting systems. Not to mention a more powerful reactor (over 20% more power than the ISD I's).
Considering the ISD 1 dates back all the way back to 22 BBY, appearing in limited numbers and in several Republic task forces, before production was expanded greatly in 19 BBY, it seems like a smart decision to update the design and systems by 0 BBY (when the ISD 2 was introduced)
I agree it was a mistake to remove the point defense weapons, but the ISD was intended to have 18 ships to act as escorts in a battle squadron/Superiority fleet.But apparently not every ship could keep up with the ISD so they usually had 2 or 3 escorts, if any. That's more a mistake on the Empire's part than removal of all the point-defense guns.
ISD 1 class were meant for multi role while imperial 2 class are ship to ship combat Vader preferred the Imperial 1 taking one of the last as his command ship I personally like the Imperial 1 more as multi role allows it to be more successful in missions like capturing smaller ships with no point defense the Imperial 2 has to rely on turbo lasers to disable or destroy it's target the imperial 1 did more damage to the falcon making it lose its shield while the Imperial 2 landed only one hit
Brute strength goes to the ISD-II, but i'd def take the ISD-I any day.

ISD twos are powerful with a carrier because without carrier there’s no fighter

Love the videos. Where do you get the stats for your vessels? I always enjoyed seeing the Imperial ships.
I have a few different hardcover books with ship specifications, like the "Star Wars Complete Vehicles" "Ultimate Star Wars". Wookiepedia is one of the best resources as well and will link its sources if you want to research it yourself. Lots of google searching haha

The imperial Navy did a lot of questionable things. in their actions and in their own organization.
It would sure help if they weren’t so arrogant haha
