This was basically the whole video in summary: Dan: The shock tower is the only thing keeping me alive. Dan: *Doesn't research shock towers when he has the option. Dies*
You know, it's usually painful to see people who are terrible at this game. But Dan panics so much and just sounds so terrified when things go wrong, that it's actually amusingly entertaining. Wouldn't watch a full series of this but I needed Dan's horrified screams to brighten my day.
Finally found a recent video! Hi NerdCubed, been loving your videos and please keep it up. It's always a joy to get out of school and be able to laugh off all the stress and anxiety with your jokes and great sense of humor. Thank you for what your doing and please keep going!
Not gonna lie, this game looks _really_ cool. It's been a long time (Factorio) since I've seen a game I want to just buy even at full price, yet here it is. I've always loved "turtling" in defense games, building up, but it always got dull after a point since the neemy would only send X amount of units my way, my defenses never got properly tested, but _this_ looks like I could turtle up proper and really give my own base building skills a run for their money! I'm sold!
@@Korbanial I got my shit rocked several times over, and enjoyed it every time. They really nailed the feeling of a pandemic, one little nothing building gets broken, makes zombies, who wreck another building, making more zombies...things spiral out of control really quickly.
Just for anyone wondering : he could've just paused one of his buildings to get back Energy to build another Mill or w/e he needs, without deleting the building. As soon as you are back into balance, you can just ressume the paused building. No need to be utterly stupid and f'ing delete your building xD Also, getting a Soldier Center so late is suicide.
by the end, he could've bought stone from the market to upgrade the walls, or after that massive attack when he was trying to recover the lost areas, he could've bought iron to make soldiers instead of archers. he had a surplus of gold for a very long part of the game
I'm thinking you seriously need to treat this like it's attack on titan and every expansion you make you don't delete walls you just make a gate and then make more walls where you want to expand to. Also I think you should have a way to bait zombies to the ballista like build it slightly out so it can just fire along the wall and pierce through all the zombies. I would assume zombies prioritize houses so use that as bait.
Roger Simmons i've played this game for a bit now. Barely able to beat it on easy. You're right. Layering walls around your command center is absolutely critical. Thats how i survived that 1 time, by putting 2 or 3 layers of wall around every side if it, and that barely held
Just spent this video saying "No, no no no." to myself. - Hasn't planned his building placement based on potential farm-able land. - Builds and deletes, wasting resources. - Deleted his 4 stone quarry over his 2 stone quarry. Anyone spotted similar? Still enjoyable as usual.
Imagine if they add an option that limits it to only slow zombies but vastly increases their numbers, a slow moving wave of death that you have to try and hold back
That would be too easy honestly. Once you get Thanatos and Executors at a wall slow zombies will basically never touch that wall again. It's the special zombies that make defense so tough later on.
Dan, you can turn off production buildings rather than destroying them to stop them taking up workers and power temporarily rather than getting rid of them then having to rebuild it
People want to stop deforestation for all of these dumb reasons but I personally believe that we should stop deforestation so the zombies have no where to attack from.
The one thing this needs is to have an alternative mode where you can be the zombies and train up hordes and go in and destroy a base either it be PvP or PvE. It would look fun from a different perspective and I think it'd get boring building and defending from the same thing
You know the game has a feature that lets troopers through and magically closes behind them... they're called gates. Might wanna try them out. Other then that, I'm just as chaotic at this game lol.
So this is a game about fortifying... and I'm a castle nut who turtles in RTS games like Fort Knox with force-fields and a nuclear deterrent. I feel like I would enjoy this.
I've been watching you for years now, Dan, and THIS is the most fun I've had watching a video in a longggg time! Absolutely make this a running series, PWEASE. :3
*Hoard gets through defenses* "Oh no, oh no oh no, I'll recover from this" *like 15 minutes later, bigger hoard attacks from the same spot, and has worse defenses* "Oh yeah, we got this!!" *dies*
He doesn't realize that? Yikes. That pausing mechanic is one of the things that really appealed to me when I was learning about this game. It lets me choose whether to think through every step carefully, or to play it like a regular RTS.
This is sort of how I like to play Star Craft and similar. Never was good at strategy outside of "Throw my ball of units at their ball of units and hope I win." Always liked making bases more than anything else. Build stuff, make turrets, become fortified. This actually looks more fun than I thought it would.
it is a good game though you need to manage base building (can be done when paused) and clearing map (on final assault wave all zombies on map attack with the final wave) while managing how far you expand (expand yourself too far or too fast can leave you open for a single zombie to enter base and if he hits a single of your housing you are fucked)
It did, it just took a massive breach that basically created a gaping hole in the hull flooding all the compartments. In terms of the walls it's been historically used, just look at the city of Rome; it has like 7 layers of walls.
Don't worry, Rome won't fall! Also, the gash in the Titanic, IIRC, didn't hit enough compartments to have been able to sink the ship on its own, but the walls between chambers weren't sealed at the top or something along those lines which allowed the rest of the compartments to fill over time.
"Close the gates, close the gates! We don't have gates, but we are going to BUILD and CLOSE the gates!"
Had me dying man.
Well this was a short video...
sorry I’m used to 8 hours now.
Soooo ... gates are a thing that are pretty neat
Nerdcubed: "This is good!"
Me: *sees there's ten minutes left in the video* this is not good.
This was basically the whole video in summary:
Dan: The shock tower is the only thing keeping me alive.
Dan: *Doesn't research shock towers when he has the option. Dies*
I haven't even finished desert bus yet
I have greatest 7 hours of my life that was
I haven't started
I'm about 5 mins after Dan crashed
You know, it's usually painful to see people who are terrible at this game. But Dan panics so much and just sounds so terrified when things go wrong, that it's actually amusingly entertaining. Wouldn't watch a full series of this but I needed Dan's horrified screams to brighten my day.

"Good everyone just starve for a moment"-Stalin 1949
Play it in VR.
On a bus.
For 8 hours.
thank you for uploading the whole full length video. It is always a joy to watch this long vids of yours : )
Hint: pausing the game with spacebar drastically makes the game easier. People are doing challenge runs where they don't pause.
We need a series of this...badly
I think Dan should revisit this, cause his biggest mistakes was LACK of gates and troops, plus he didn't expand fast enough....
He says "Where are they coming from? East! Fuck em!" Dies immediately. Please make more of this game.
We're starting to come back to life
-Dan, with 3 minutes left in the video
I would love to see a completes series on this. Or maybe just a check up as it comes along. But I would love to see a full play through of this
it is so much fun, i bought it after watching this.
Me: *24 minutes in* "This video is pretty long." *checks play bar* "Oh."
exactly the same for me
Best thing about your channel is the keyboard clicks.... I love them for some reason.
Completes series in 30-45 minute episodes would be amazing. please do it till you win on the hardest difficulty or give up.

So, how did it go?

there's many things he could have done better, like actually using the pause button
but it's dan, and we love him for who he is.
This definitely needs to be a series
"Put seeds in the ground and piss on them!" I am never paying for food again!!
I get the feeling he doesn't know you can pause the game and build...
Gott probably to keep the video being even longer
What does Dan have against gates? A couple times he even selects them and ignores them for literally no reason
so pretty much...
everything the light touches is your kingdom?
Lucky yeah pretty much
I found out the game gets easier when you pause the game a lot. No wonder it is mapped on the spacebar.
I'm thinking you seriously need to treat this like it's attack on titan and every expansion you make you don't delete walls you just make a gate and then make more walls where you want to expand to. Also the zombie waves will always target the weakest, least defended wall, or the highest concentration of houses
I actually wouldn't mind more of this at some point, I watched the entire thing without even realizing how long it was
I wouldn't mind watching a series of this game... Just saying
He had many chances to retake and rebuild but didn't take them
Welcome to Dan's Land. You might not recognize this, but Dan isn't exactly the best strategist.
Tesla placement! Argh
the fact that he deleted the quarry at all; pause production and he'd've been grand
Farms are easy: you just put seeds in the ground and piss on 'em.
Because piss has what plants crave. It has electrolytes!
I get it ;)
Bronco 53 you must be the smartest man on Earth!
Robert Schalk he must watch rick and morty
I don't think we have time for a Starbucks
Arthur McVey welcome to Costco I love you
Dan. Zombies. One hour and 30 minutes of survival.
BBC, if you're listening, MAKE THIS A WEEKLY TV SHOW.
"there's the conga line of death" Never heard a swarm of zombies described like that, but I might use it in the future.
Not sure, but I think he described the aliens in Factorio that way at one point
Crypt of the necrodancer?
Imagine if they add an option that limits it to only slow zombies but vastly increases their numbers, a slow moving wave of death that you have to try and hold back

Ah fair enough I haven't been able to grab the game yet so I am unaware of these units.
Can we get a series out of this pleaseeeeeeee, i love the long videos!
Nerdcubed COMPLETES
PhambletonMR YES WE NEED ONE! DO IT DAN
I need this to be a series
Complete series
Pleeeeaaase
I WANT A SERIES RIGHT NOW
Dan, you can turn off production buildings rather than destroying them to stop them taking up workers and power temporarily rather than getting rid of them then having to rebuild it
Holy shit a solid hour an a half, didn't even notice till I was halfway through.
Lek holy shit
People want to stop deforestation for all of these dumb reasons but I personally believe that we should stop deforestation so the zombies have no where to attack from.

Might wanna try them out.
Other then that, I'm just as chaotic at this game lol.
I would love to see a second episode on this game. It’s really interesting and fun to watch!
"WHO STARTLED THE WITCH!!!" I died
Oh, and FYI, that's the zombie who can jump (single) walls.
So this is a game about fortifying... and I'm a castle nut who turtles in RTS games like Fort Knox with force-fields and a nuclear deterrent. I feel like I would enjoy this.
Kazyyk Tenek Aye. That's kinda part of what I was thinking. No game I've played gives me much room to expand.
The fact that it's procedural as far as maps go I've found it good for making you change layouts each map.
I've been watching you for years now, Dan, and THIS is the most fun I've had watching a video in a longggg time! Absolutely make this a running series, PWEASE. :3
Soldier: Is everything ok?
Dan: No...
Mooooore? More. Definitely more, please.
MORE DAN MORE PLEASE THIS WAS WONDERFUL
"Close the gates! Close the gates! We don't have gates, but we're going to build and close gates!"
DAN! I'm still watching desert bus! Some of us work you now.
Series please. Thank you sweetie!
Michael Caplin sweetie??
Say it with me now lads - permadeath, permadeath, permadeath!
Watch his stream gods he doesn’t last long
its not "never eat shredded wheat". is "nobody enjoys soviet womble"!
Inigo Gibson no it's "nobody enjoys cyanide the Indian"
Well now I'm triggered
error 404 sans not found now I'm extremely triggered
Battlefield Montages good~
Inigo Gibson haha
“This is all fine. Everything is going well”
*about one minute later*
“WHAT? WHEN DID THEY GET THROUGH?”
It is inherent to this game though.
"Fun but difficult"? *Must be a souls-like*
*Hoard gets through defenses*
"Oh no, oh no oh no, I'll recover from this"
*like 15 minutes later, bigger hoard attacks from the same spot, and has worse defenses*
"Oh yeah, we got this!!"
*dies*
Chase ASA I
we need a series! this reminds me when you played age of empires
GATES EXIST
WITCHCRAFT! HERESY!
I seriously need more of this.
"We should be okay" Famous last words.
You need to do a series or more streams of this, please
Oh nice. A neat short little recommendation video from the stream! Only 1.5 hours long. Essentially nothing compared to desert bus!
You should bring back permadeath with this
You really have to play this in a way that lets you cut off sections of your stuff when they get infected
Basically, build an Attack on Titan town. Layered walls.
I remember watching this the day it came out... nerdcubed is my nostalgia!
lets play! lets play! lets play! *chanting* lets play! lets play!
The L Cast *joins in chanting*
This is one part enjoyment and three parts face desk.
This game has a pause mechanic...
He doesn't realize that? Yikes. That pausing mechanic is one of the things that really appealed to me when I was learning about this game. It lets me choose whether to think through every step carefully, or to play it like a regular RTS.
For the love of god, record more of this
An hour and a half, not a single ad
Kiwi Skateboarding only on officialnerdcubed 😁
These kind of videos are by far your best ones
"Everybody starve for a moment!" xD
I love the longer videos Dan. This one was a lot of fun.
PAUSE. THE. GAME. WHEN. GIVING. ORDERS.
Do people actually do that in RTS games?
+Martin Anthonyo usually rts games dont have a pause button. But since this one does theres really no reason not to use it.
Dan . . . you know you can pause and play this game?
Watching this, I'm just waiting for Dan to scream "THE NEEDLE IS FREAKING OUT ROY!!!!"
This needs a series
uhh why is the title missing "Episode 1"?
“Can you unload over here”
Sure can
“WHO STARTLED THE WITCH?” 😂😂😂
More of this would be dope.
My OCD killed me in how he placed everything 😂😂
Never play this game then lmao, its OCD peoples worse nightmare
This is sort of how I like to play Star Craft and similar. Never was good at strategy outside of "Throw my ball of units at their ball of units and hope I win."

favorite quote from this.
"who the fuck startled the witch?"
Yeah, i lol at that one!
Use the pause button! That would have been so useful so many times! USE IT I SAY!
You have to use gates, so that you can cut off places, and move to them.
"They are billions", referring to the amount of nano-seconds in this video, though that's likely an understatement.
"likely an understatement" lol, 1 billion nanoseconds is just one second, so yeah a bit of an understatement :)
Did anyone else die of laughter when he said " That's what defenses are for."
Do a completes series on this please
Video didn't show up on my feed, didn't notice this came out :D, always nice when an hour of NC pops up
I didn't realise the video was an hour and a half. DAN.
When your base/colony had been destroyed it looked like an industrial town in the '80's.
It's crazy how excited I get when you post a new video
"We can recover from this." The Tories also said that, neither were right.
Should have built walls around little sub-sections and allowed movement via gates. Titanic style.
So your still fucked but slower...
I like it
do you like the fact that your'e still fucked, or the fact that it's slower?
Yeah... that worked so well for "The Unsinkable Ship", didn't it?
It did, it just took a massive breach that basically created a gaping hole in the hull flooding all the compartments. In terms of the walls it's been historically used, just look at the city of Rome; it has like 7 layers of walls.

Anyone else find it hilarious when you notice something he doesnt (zed making way around bottom)
