Your post is absolutely accurate, That vocal range of emotion she exhibits is directly injected into a persons soul. I am an empty heartless monster until I hear this song. Powerful effect talent has, right?
This is a very powerful song. Very emotional. This song should have gotten more recognition and should have received a Grammy. I met a woman just like this that can sing this song, we became soul mates, are married and are best friends. Sometimes you don't only have to hear, but you have to listen.
OMG! Myself as well! Every word. I mean I know everyone relates to some song or another like it was written just for them, but this song is me, my soul, very weird. So sorry for your loss
Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken~ Absolutely POWERFUL... Think we have all been there before and we just need time to heal for ourselves NOBODY can fix some things must come from our inner self.. And that is what makes us stronger, better human beings!
because Amy Lee does it like nobody else, her beautiful voice is a siren, she can make make you feel what she feels with her voice, she is the best in my opinion no other artist can make me feel what I feel when I listen to her sing
For me, this may well be the greatest vocal I ever hear and possibly the most perfect piece of music I will hear. As with the voice of Amy Lee, this song is impeccable in every way you can speak about it. Amy Lee has probably the best voice anywhere in the world today, maybe ever and an incredible ability to put it across. This song will bring tears to my eyes for as long as I care to listen to it.
Playground school bell rings again Rain clouds come to play again Has no one told you she’s not breathing? Hello, I’m your mind Giving you someone to talk to Hello If I smile and don’t believe Soon I know I’ll wake from this dream Don’t try to fix me, I’m not broken Hello, I’m the lie Living for you so you can hide Don’t cry Suddenly I know I’m not sleeping Hello, I’m still here All that’s left of yesterday
I cry every time I listen to this. It doesn't matter how hard I try not to. There's just so much emotion in her singing and lyrics. I can relate so much to these lyrics...
It just comes out of nowhere! We have this song that is quiet and overcast with melancholy, and just when you expect it to fade out, Lee crescendos. It's like real grief: you cry your eyes out, submit to depression. Then, out of nowhere, you feel this energy deep inside of you: an anger like no other.
Her depiction is spot on, and "We" that are able to feel the words in whatever situation they happen to fit into each their own, are, in my opinion, special in that way. Keep fighting the good fight and stay strong.
Two close friends of mine died in December & January and when I hear this song I think of them. Such a powerful & emotive song. Very emotional & deep, but at the same time very calming. Although some may say its depressing, I call it therapeutic. Amy Lee has a fantastic voice & you can tell she puts her heart into her work. The background music is very well performed, too.
Anyone who has lost a close sibling knows the crushing destruction....You not only lose your sister or brother, you lose the shared memories. Think of that for a moment. There is no one to share years of experiences with-- it's ALL gone. :( RIP, my beautiful & beloved brother, Bruce. You are missed, every, single day.
This song is about her sister who suffered an asthma attack on the school playground and died. This song is Amy Lee's dedication to her. It is followed up most recently by the song Lithium in which Amy talks about how it feels to be on a Mood Stabilizer to cope with losses (in general) and how "Catch 22" it is.
This song is what won me over with Evanescence, I thought I was being too sensitive crying to it but grown men cry when they hear this too lol awesome job Amy. A true artist.
Evanescence's most hauntingly beautiful song, and the emotion in her voice is mesmerizing, oneof the simple reasons this band holds a special place in my heart, listened to them constantly when caring for my mother during her terminal illness
This song is one that should be played more often! So much meaning... I used to pretend she was actually listening to me and helping me in such dire times!! When she says smile and pretend... Oh them words got me through school and home life so much and I'm now here, thank you!!!
I can't believe I had never heard this until last week. Has easily made it's way to my top 3 songs of all time. What a beautiful song , so much feeling. Sadness. And that range of her voice is incredible. I'm rambling, but I just can't seem to articulate how incredible a song it is.
I've loved this song since I listened it for the first time. I could not understand the lyrics until I read it (about 5 years ago), that made me cry because it reminds me my brother that passed away 7 years ago. Now, I can't stop cry every time I hear it.
I was lucky enough to be in the front row at one of their concerts when she sat at the piano and played this which is pretty rare for them it was incredible. Her voice just echoing around the arena 😍

The song was recorded during the 2001-2002 sessions and released as track #9 on Fallen. Amy said this is one of the songs on Fallen that she's proud of and it's the only song on the album that can make her cry. It is the only Fallen song that she has never performed in a concert, because of the personal subject matter. A part of the song was used in the beginning of a few live shows in 2003 as the intro to the song "Going Under". This is what Amy said about the passing of her sister in a 2004 interview and how it inspired her to become an artist: “When that happened, my whole perception of life changed. It sounds stupid, but that was when I became an artist. The music is my attempt to heal myself. Things like that can destroy you, or you can get through it.” Lee’s gray-blue eyes fill with tears. Her voice wobbles. […] She says she won’t reveal her sister’s name, because it would be too weird to see it in print. It would upset her mother, she says, and - you never know - fans might try to find her grave. “My sister’s death taught me how short life can be, and it has driven me to achieve things. I have a list of 50 things I want to achieve. Not necessarily in entertainment, just personal goals. Life's fragility drives me on.” (Der Song wurde während der Sessions 2001-2002 aufgenommen und als Track Nr. 9 auf Fallen veröffentlicht. Devastating and haunting and gorgeous all at once. This song borders on operatic in how it explores tragedy and the madness that can come with it.

Amy has the most incredible voice i've ever heard. She is truly one of the greatest female vocalists of our time
She's the best female vocalist I've ever heard besides Lita Ford and Stevie Nicks

I'm just listening this song, and cry...It is wonderful, amazing and brilliant... I love you Amy ,you are my hero
Playground school bell rings again
Rain clouds come to play again
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I'm your mind giving you someone to talk to
Hello
If I smile and don't believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream
Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken
Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide
Don't cry
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here
All that's left of yesterday...
