A legendary admiral's death. Not ever losing a single naval battle, truly a legend. Following the roaring currents which by itself had incredible combat scenes and hansan with better cannon scenes, I am excited to see what this will hold in store especially since the battle scene has a length of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Cant wait to see Kim yun seok and Baek yoon shik's charismatic acting, may it truly be a deadly sea

23 win out of 23 sea battle is known as the undefeated myth, by admire Yi. but it's a little different from the truth. I'm a Korean, and I'm a student interested in history, and I'd like to tell you about my recent experience of reading a papers. According to research from famous Korean history experts, there were 47 battles in detail, with about 5 draws out of those 47. But no matter how well their strategize, they lose a lot of battles. Because everything actually happens all at once. Still, it doesn't make sense that the winning rate is almost 100%. It's not easy for any strategist or tactician to achieve such a feat. So he's a really great hero to Koreans. Perhaps his immortal achievements will be forever praised in the world, until the Earth collapses.
Noryang is the biggest battle to come. The movie captures that spot well. After Toyotomi Hideyoshi's death, 500 Japanese battleships returned home under his will were attacked by Ming naval forces led by Admiral Yi Sun-shin, and 300 were wiped out in the Noryang Strait. Sadly, our general was shot and killed there. All wars would end when this battle was over, but after the war, generals from the three East Asian countries all paid tribute, praise, and fear to him. General Nelson of England also praised him, and his strategy was used by Japan 300 years later. Japan went to war with Russia on the Korean Peninsula to gain the right to annex Joseon, which was the Russo-Japanese War. His strategy was used by Japan again. Japan eventually won the war, paving the way for the annexation of Korea. It's an ironic reality. Anyway, his influence is overwhelming in East Asia.

@@entp9671Indeed! That fact about his 40+ battles are not that well known. It is also unfortunate that the battle of noryang is not widely known amongst foreigners, especially since it is one of the biggest naval battles. Not even google recognises it. Also, its a shame korea didnt have anyone like Yi sun shin during the annexation...

@@godzilla4191 Let me elaborate on the number 47. Looking at the number of major battles, the official naval record would be 23. However, there were a total of 45 to 47 battles, including major and detailed battles. Of those, there were about five to six draws. Oh, and the end of the Korean War was terrible. A hundred years before Joseon fell, it was especially miserable. There have been many cases like this. Let me recite 100 years of history. Some noble families who monopolized power ignored the interests of the country and the people and risked their lives for their own benefit. So the harm was terrible. And Heungseon Daewongun did not accept the outside culture. It is understandable to be wary of outside cultures, but when you look at Japan next door, it's a different story. Japan, forced open and conscious by the U.S., developed very quickly after its radical policy of innovation from all walks of life. The Meiji Restoration greatly improved Japan. Korea, on the other hand, which had been closed down, was that much slower to develop. The king also ostensibly defended the emperor, but after hearing rumors that his queen was killed by Japanese ninjas, he fled to Russian missions. Although the queen was killed, Joseon's power was already too weak for the king to directly protest. Some patriots tried to maintain the centrality and sovereignty of the country, but even that failed. Joseon was eventually disenfranchised by five traitors and sold all its sovereignty to Japan like slaves. It was a time of relentless imperialism. As you said, history would not have changed if there was someone like Admiral Yi Sun-shin in Korea. This was because Admiral Yi Sun-shin stood upright. Others were incompetent, put his own interests ahead, and even betrayed the country. Human rights could not change the course of history. It would have been better if the king back then was like Yi Sun-shin. Anyway, Japanese occupation history contributed to the division of the Korean Peninsula today. In the end, we were not occupied by Japan. We sold ourselves out. There is nothing we can do. We just have to do well from now on.

The legend of Admiral Yi has lots of lies and exaggerations…this is one of those.
He had rarely victories thus the king of korea tortured him.
His only notable victory was the last battle, in that korea broke the peace treaty and attacked withdrawing Japanese ships, and Yi got rekt by Japanese musketeer.

The background of this Seven Years' War is that the carelessness and arrogance of Joseon (Korea), which enjoyed only peace and culture for 200 years, treated Yamato (Japan) as a barbaric pirate group rather than a country. However, Yamato had a high level of tactics through clan battles for 100 years, and the 170,000 troops of Toyotomi, who unified the whole country, armed with Portuguese matchlocks and attacked Joseon. Historically, Japan has waged a surprise war without a declaration of war.The 16,000 Elite heavy cavalry that Joseon was proud of, which had suppressed the cruel northern peoples, was defeated by the Yamato Matchlock unit, and 70, 000 Joseon Army was pushed back all the way to Pyongyang. Yamato, which was a medieval feudal lord era, gained land and people if it won a war, but in Joseon, which was a centralized country, the king fled to the north, but the people and monks formed a militia and fought to the end , the Japanese army was embarrassed by the existence of the Militia.
The basic weapons of the Joseon army were bows, spears, and swords, as well as gunpowder bombs and various cannons of different sizes..The Ming Dynasty (China) sent reinforcements to help Joseon, but instead harassed Joseon by plundering and engaging in internal communication with Japan, but helped Yi Sun sin in the final naval battle.Yamato, who did not have the technology to make pottery, brought in hundreds of Joseon pottery craftsmen to make pottery and exported the pottery to Europe, where it received favorable reviews. Joseon was unable to recover from the aftereffects of this war for 400 years and suffered the humiliation of being annexed by Japan, which it regarded as an uncivilized island, and being ruled for 35 years. This Great War was a symbolic event in which the international status of the Korean Peninsula with 4,800 years of history was reversed by the Japanese archipelago with 1,800 years of history. 300 years later, Joseon became a reclusive country with a policy of isolation, and Japan defeated the Russian Navy with Yi Sun-sin's tactics. and joined the ranks of the great powers. Yi Sun sin's the world's top 3 naval admiral and the turtle ship is an invincible Korean Item in the Age of Empires PC Games.

Until just before the Battle of Noryang, there was a disagreement with Yi Sun-sin over the issue of major and operational execution. Not only did they rob the Joseon navy of the supplies it had acquired through threats, but they even forced Yi Sun-sin to post a false report that hid the information to the Joseon government. In addition, like other Ming Dynasty generals at the time of the Saerobyeongjin, he was lukewarm about sending troops and even prevented the Joseon naval forces from sending troops. Yi Sun-sin reported this problem to the Joseon Dynasty, and King Seonjo and Bibyeonsa planned to propose to the Ming Dynasty command that the Ming naval forces be replaced as governors.

The true situation in history is that this was a major naval battle between Chinese and Japanese. There is no doubt that the Ming Navy was the main force in this Battle. Yi Sun Shin doesn't even have the qualification to enter the decision-making level. He was just a frontline commander charging at the forefront. So, there is no record of Yi Sun Shin in the History of Ming Dynasty. The key to victory in war is that the Ming army defeated the Japanese army on land.

      1. Without the Ming army, Korea would definitely be completely conquered by Japan. Even if the civilians were brave but the country was corrupt. The main force of the Ming army participating in the war was the Liaodong cavalry unit, which had the strongest combat power in Ming Dynasty.
      2. Yi sun shin who won several battles through surprise attacks and tactics was a frontline commander under the command of Ming general, . They still have to rely on the Ming army for the front. The Korean army at that time is joke.
This kind of movie doesn't respect history at all. it's just a popcorn movie.
