    Amália
    Amália
    Amália
    Tens no olhar
    Na alma e na voz
    O verdadeiro fado
    Que há em nós
E preso ás cordas da guitarra
    Viveu o teu coração
    Sem saber a razão
    Cantas o mar
    A terra e o céu
    Com o coração na voz
    Que Deus te deu
    Sete colinas e varinas
    E mil pregões pelo ar
    O povo a rezar
    Uma voz a cantar
    Saudade, teu nome quiseste dar
    À mulher que foi
    Amália por amar
    E a cantar
    Tu dás tanto amor
    Que morres para matar
    A nossa dor
    E há sardinheiras nas janelas
    E procissões a passar
    O povo a rezar
    Tens no olhar
    Na…
    English
    Amalia for loving
    You have in the gaze
In the soul and the voice
    The true Fado
    That is in us

And I press the strings of the guitar
    Your heart lived
    Without knowing reason
    You sing the ocean
With the heart in the voice
    Which god gave you

    Seven hills and wands
And a thousand orations through the air
    The people for praying
    A voice for singing
Nostalgia, your name wanted to give
    The woman who was
    Amalia for loving

    And to sing
    You give so much love
That you die so that you can kill
    Our pain

And there are geraniums by the windows
    And processions to pass
    The people for praying

    You have in the gaze
In the soul and the voice
The Lusitanian Fado that is within us
And there are geraniums by the windows
    And processions to pass
    A voice for singing

    A voice for singing
Nostalgia, your name wanted to give
    To the woman who was
    Amalia for loving

Thank you so much Mrs Hayley. Thank you also for the courage in singing in Portuguese language. It's not easy! I understand all as I know the text. You have the text in English but you decide to sing in my language, tks for your respect. Mrs Hayley , in my opinion, you are the best voice in New Zealand, and one of 5 best voices in all Europe together w/ Clöe, Lisa, SISSEL and Enya, so allow to consider me as an unconditionally fan of your beautiful voice since Celtic Woman. Respectfully from LISBON with love 🇵🇹💐👏👏👏👏👏

I'm from Costa Rica, so my first language is spanish, and I didn`t knew it was portuguese, and it just sounds beautiful to me.
She`s just an amazing singer, and the gestures she does with her face in certain parts of the song, and when she takes one of her hands with the other is beautiful. All of this, besides the work with the violins makes this perfect to me.

Listening to it again today, made me shiver even more. What a fantastic voice to an awesome melody. To me it sounds like Hayley has sung in Portuguese from Portugal her whole life. This is amazing OMG

Singing in english you're wonderful, singing in portuguese you're a queen. For when you go to sing in Spanish, to be a goddess :-) :-) :-)
Congratulations Hayley, your voice and your being have been touched by the finger of God.

You can search for the original composition Maestro Ennio Morricone created to Dulce Pontes "Amália por amor". You can find it in the album "Focus".

The tile of this song's original - which is not a fado (fate) - translates as "Amália with love" not "For the love of Amália".
Thanks anyway to HW for the celebration, even though if sung in an virtual language pretended to be portuguese, and not celebrating Amália Rodrigues but hardly trying to immitate Dulce Pontes' really amazing voice.
Just listen to the original here at UA-cam under: "Dulce Pontes & Ennio Morricone - Amàlia Por Amor"...

She's singing it a little slower here than her album version. Try the version on her album Paradiso. :)

Não critiquem por favor, porque portugueses soletrar inglês é fácil, mas os ingleses soletrar português é mais difícil para eles.
Só estarão a desencorajá-los a aprender o português e assim expandir a nossa língua, aplaudam e elogiem quem tenta esforçar aprender português ;)

Abraço do Brasil!

I've seen Hayley lots live, and her kiwi accent does tend to come through when she sings, plus she sings in Maori a lot and the sounds are very different. She likes to push herself and has sung in Japanese before and other languages. I've sung in Russian before and I'm sure I didn't make much since. lol!

WTF... Is she singing in hebrew or gaelic? Portuguese? Don't make me laugh. If you can't do it properly just don't mess with it...
