Ian Bishop unleashes hell on Robin Smith - PACE LIKE FIRE

- Now famous for his excellent commentary, Ian Bishop torments Robin Smith on his way to making him his 100th Test wicket. Leaves The Judge 'dookin and weevin' and definitely bruised. All deliveries from the same innings from the 2nd innings of the 3rd Test of the 1995 series. Eng were all out for 89. Smith made 41 of those as Windies secured an innings win.

Let's give credit to Robin Smith as that bowling was seriously hostile and he stood up to it like a man in full.
He was my favourite batsman growing up, brave as a lion
I'm a bowler, but did I LOVE to see Robin Smith bat. One of my all-time favourite players. Shoddily treated by the selectors in the end.
Yes, I think he's a favourite with many people. It's a shame because he's had a tough time after he retired but he gave many people so much pleasure. That square cut!!!
Add him to the long list of England players treated badly by the idiot selectors
Alas one of many poorly treated by the England selectors back in the 90s.
@@jshaers96wht happened after he retired
If memory serves, Smith was one of our best batsman of that era against the West Indies.
Fully agree, he scored some decent runs esp in Eng and no shame at all in getting bit roughed up in face of a bowling attack of this quality and sheer pace.
It was basically unplayable at times.
In his prime, Bishop was the craft of Marshall and versatility of Roberts enrolled in one. If only those injuries hadn't taken its toll.
Also pace of Holding and bounce of Garner. All in one package.
@@JamesMusonda-wr5gn wouldn't be certain if Bishop clicked at 100 mph like Holding. But he definitely was in the 93-94 mph category.
That was abuse, not cricket.
Robin Smith loved it. He was in his element playing really hostile bowling. It was spin he had trouble with.
@@jshaers96 surprisingly, barring Graham Gooch and Allan Border, almost all great non Asian batsmen had troubles against high quality spin bowling. It's from these experiences Border recognised Warne's talents and took him onboard.
The last great West Indian fast bowler to emerge from that era.
I met Ian Bishop briefly once following a Test match at Edgbaston.
Very pleasant man when he doesn't have a red ball in his hand!
He just stood there and watched it ! Moved if he could .. or took the hit !! Proper batsman who showed no fear .. it must have been terrifying! Just incredible against such speed and aggression.
the first few deliveries looks like Bishop is going to hit the umpire while bowling
The best spell of fast bowling 🔥🔥🔥
Era Of Bowlers All GOAT.
How does he not hit the umpire during load up
Umpire is lagging or ian was using glitch
He releases the ball after crossing the umpire.
"I think that's a terrible ball", lool.
Fair play to The Judge though, class player and brave.
Remember the pace!
Robin smith was the best player of pace.
Ambrose and Walsh really needed Bishop and Patterson to kick on. Bishop’s injuries and Patterson’s inconsistency persuaded the WI selectors to go with Kenney Benjamin et al who just were not at the same level. That steep drop off from the opening bowlers was a serious contributor to the WI decline.
Winston Benjamin didn’t get as much test play as he should have…he was much better than Kenny
Ah, the “zebra” pitch at Edgbaston in 1995! Super-fast wicket with lots of grass in the middle and then bare for 12ft at either end. Not really a fair contest between bat and ball - we bowled appallingly on that surface.
If Ambrose hadn’t pulled up with a groin injury, it probably would have been a two-day test match.
But Smith never backed away...Great contest
wtf felt like i was playing ea sports during the load up🤣
Bishop is quick here, but was yards quicker before his injury (1989-91).
Robin Smith is gutsy, but his style of leaving makes the bowling look far more dangerous than it was.
He was the best player of fast bowling in that era.... immense batsman
I remember a sun headline from a Windies tour when Ian Bishop skittled England out; BISH BOSH WHATTA LOADA TOSH!
After some time ian bishop broke jaw of robin Smith ☠️☠️💀
Ian Bishop was a fantastic bowler,so sad his career was curtailed......
Dookin and weevin
@MrPancholi
Aye lad, that's what lasses I'm courtin' do when they get on wrong side of me.
Among West indian bowlers I think Ian bishop action was the most smoothest and his run up was also very smooth unlike courtney wash who use to drink before bowling
drink???
@naseemrafi1488
Hush, you fool of a *TROLL.*
Lucozade?
Orange squash?
Rum Punch?
More info needed....
@@andrew7440 confidential. but signal should be enough for the wise one, 😃
Good fast bowling ian
Bruv that umpire would be shitting his pants
NERVES MAN NERVES ; THE TEST OF CHARACTER IS ENTIRELY BASED ON YOUR NERVES ; THE STRONGER THEY ARE THE MORE CHANCES ARISE FOR SUCCESS . A BIT OF A WEAK TYPE OF A TECHNIQUE DOESN'T HARM YOU THAT MUCH IF YOU HAVE VERY STRONG NERVES WITHIN YOU ; REMEMBER - THIS IS THE ACTUAL CASE IN EVERY ASPECT OF ONE'S LIFE ; NOT ONLY IN CRICKET OR SOME OTHER GAMES OR SPORTS .
This was also Ian Bishop after injury and he’d already lost some of his previous pace!
Pujara be like " Mere se jada apka dard koi nhi smjh skta"😂
Have to say that Smith made a lot of those balls look more dangerous than they actually were.
Ooooh FUKKK, like Dee-Vaughan Malcome vs AUS 1995!
Curtly faster when he MAD... only then.
At least the judge had the balls too face these guys remrber watching this live
Windies bowlers of the present should watch this, especially after today. Notice how Bishop is almost elbowing the umpire in the head he's passing that close to him. If you're going to bowl fast, bowl wicket to wicket directly down the line of the stumps. Bowling from an angle should be a surprise ball,
This is QUICK!!!
Bish was as quick as Patterson, rarely given the credit though. Smith was a brave as they come. I’m a Hampshire fan. Love the man. But he could only cut and couldn’t play spin.
Bush?😂
@@HHM706 😫. I’ve corrected it :)
Nonsense! Judgy could drive with the best of them. See my comments above re him Vs spinners.
Not strictly true, had an issue with Warne in 93 (but then nearly everyone did ), scored runs in India and Sri Lanka.
The last of the west Indian fury, I liked him more than Ambrose n Walsh
Better version of Flintoff's bowling action.
He was clearly inspired by Malcolm Marshall.
Smith was actually a very good player of fast bowling.
Spin was his problem.
No! Shane Warne at Warney's very best was his (and everyone else's problem). I can remember Robin destroying spin bowling. But he was more at home against the quicks.
I feel like he is going to punch umpire
Umran Malik loading...
Did he not edge that one behind?
Umpire didn't give him out
Mark wood have similar action like Ian bishop
No completely different action
No,more like andrew flintoff
This wicket was terrible, if I remember correctly. This is WI tour of Eng 95, by then Ian had lost all the pace that made him a fearsome fast bowler in the early part of his career.
When this guy appreciates the bowlers like Mukesh, Vinay , jigness, ratnesss types in the commentary , I feel sad. How fast has the cricket declined
Extremely hostile bowling and balls of steel batting.
Not unplayable bowling
Awful technique from Robin Smith. See how his front foot involuntarily comes across and forward carrying his body forward into the path of each short ball.
A awful technique my word you obviously have a big mouth I don't see you standing there I don't think you would have the guts your mouth will have a helmet and your head
Although it was a great spell no doubt... But i get the feeling that the batsman was not that good as well... He was overselling those leaves...
Robin Smith was a great batsman, he had a test average of 44 which was very good in the 90s.
@@ronniep9272
How old was he here in the video is the main question
@@ronniep9272 That is true. He was also know as a particularly good player of fast bowling. His (relative) weakness was against spin
The batsman was Robin Smith. He was quite underrated but was one of the finest players of pace bowling.
Ean bishop out by Muhammad RASHEDUL ISLAM RAZU With batting and bowling////////>)))))))
