I was there when they recorded this performance. It was magical. Forrest did something perfect with the urgency of the strings pushing that movement forward underneath the majestic and familiar chords. It conveys the feeling that something huge is happening, just over the hill, and you should drop whatever you were doing and come run with us to see it. The joy on the faces of some of these young singers is unforgettable.

That's a beautiful job of putting the meaning of Forrest's arrangement into words. I felt that but I couldn't articulate it.

Great analysis. I still prefer John Williams’ version from Home Alone 2 though. That version, which was filmed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago (although in the movie it’s represented as Carnegie Hall in New York), has such strength and I haven’t been able to find a version as powerful and inspirational.

I would hate it if the response was tepid given how phenomenal it was. If someone could tell me how the audience responded at the end of the concert, I'd highly appreciate it.

TruthLightHouse: You fabricate nonsense and then shoot it down. hahahahahaha
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has never said that "Jesus was only a man" rather it teaches that Jesus was a member of the Godhead in his premortal life. He was the firstborn spirit son of God the Father. It was he who created the earth. It was he who accepted the Father's plan for his spirit children to enter mortality to gain a body, take a test, and develop a Christ-like character. It was he (Jehovah, Lord, the coming Messiah, etc.) who called and spoke to all the Old and New Testament prophets and revealed his will to them and had them record it, which we now have in the scriptures. It was he who volunteered to come to the earth, take on a mortal body and become "the only begotten of the Father in the flesh," restore the fullness of his gospel, live an exemplary life, and then provide an atonement by 1: suffering for the sins of all mankind, 2: dying on the cross, 3: being resurrected with a physical, immortal body so that all mankind will also be resurrected and also have the opportunity of eternal life with him and the Father by "doing the will of the Father." Jesus Christ was the Son of God in his premortal, mortal, and post-mortal life. As a member of the Godhead, he has always and will always have the title of "God."
In Acts 3: 19-21 we are told that Christ will not return until there has been a "restitution of all thing." It also says that this isn't new news. It has been spoken of "by all the holy prophets since the world began." In the book of Isaiah Jesus Christ states that in the last days he will "proceed to do a marvelous work and a wonder." He began that process in 1820 when he and the Father appeared to and called a prophet to assist him in this restitution of all things. What did Jesus do? He restored the fulness of the gospel just as he did when he came to the earth. He sent John the Baptist to restore the Aaronic Priesthood which gives the authority to perform baptisms. He sent Peter, James, and John to restore the Melchizedek Priesthood and the office of apostle, which has the authority to give the "Gift of the Holy Ghost" and to become the authority to govern his church, what the scriptures refer to as the "Kingdom of God on the earth." He sent Moses to restore the keys of the gathering of Israel, He sent Elijah to restore the sealing keys. He sent the angel Moroni (as John had prophesied in the Book of Revelation, "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth." This also fulfilled the prophesy in Ezekiel 37 where the Lord, speaking in the first person, commands that two records be kept, one for the tribe of Judah (the Bible) and one for the tribe of Joseph and his son Ephraim (Book of Mormon) and that these two books of scripture would become "One in my hand" in the last days. Jesus Christ has established his restored church on the earth. He is the head. He works through apostles and prophets called by him to govern the affairs of is church. See Amos 3:7

This great song would be honoring which Jesus ? There is more than
one ? YES ! Follow what Jesus said of Himself and not what other
deceivers would have you to fall for. consider the following :
One would think that Jesus true identity of being Very God in the Flesh, would not have been corrupted by so many.
Jesus asked His disciples: "who do men say that I AM ?"
here are a few re definitions that have come through the ages:
for the jehovah witness, Jesus is a created being, formerly Michael the archangel, ...and not equal to Jehovah
for the Bahai Jesus is one of nine great manifestations
for the Spiritest he is an advanced medium
for the Theosophist he is an incarnated world soul
for the Unitarian he is an extranordinarily good man
for the Later Day Saint, Jesus is a created being, one god among many other gods, and the brother of Lucifer
for the Christian Scientist he is but a Divine Principle
What did scripture say of Jesus claim ?
Jesus made it very clear that if you do not believe He is the Eternal Jehovah
God that Moses talked to and listened to on Mt Sinai, you will die in
your sin.....the sin of unbelief. (Jn 8:24)
He cannot be redefined to suit a cult founders belief ideas, which are stated above
In the 8th chapter of John,vs 12-59, Jesus gave a clear dialog of EXACTLY
who He is, that He and the father are ONE, and ended the dialog by
saying: " before Abraham was I AM. Meaning he is forever the eternal Jehovah God , not created.
IF YOU ARE FOLLOWING THE WRONG JESUS, YOU WILL NOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

@@bobrussell8339 ..........if you are referring to the founders in the above listed groups, then yes.
If you are old enough to remember the Rock Opera: "Jesus Christ Super Star", and the theme song that pivoted on who Jesus said He is, then all the re definitions the above groups & their leaders posit , disappear faster than greased lightning.
The lyric in the song that was the basis for the Rock Opera, effectually said: "Jesus Christ Superstar, are you really who you say you are?" which is a reflection of the passage in John 10: 23-33. V24 is the song foundation, and v. 33 concludes the point He is God, to which not one of the above listed groups will concede.

@@theophilus46 Here is what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches about the Godhead:
      1. There is no such thing as the Trinity and its multitude of definitions. The word trinity is not found in the bible.
      2. The bible uses the word Godhead, which is an organization consisting of three persons; namely, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God the Son known in the Old Testament by numerous names such as Lord, Jehovah, the prophesied Messiah, etc. He had the title of God in his premortal life and was the principle caller of the Old Testament prophets and revealer of his word to them. He is the first-born spirit son of God the Father. He was born into mortality being the "only begotten of the Father in the flesh" and having a mortal mother, Mary. He had numerous names during his mortal ministry, but he was certainly still a member of the Godhead with the title of God during his mortal ministry. While on the earth he restored the fulness of his gospel, lived a perfect life and set an example of how we should also live his gospel. He provided a reconciliation for all mortals by suffering for the sins of all mankind, dying on the cross, and being resurrected. He ascended back to his Father in heaven where he now sits at the Father's right hand where he is still a member of the Godhead with the title of God.

    • @theophilus46
      @theophilus46 2 роки тому

@@bobrussell8339 ..........Actually Bob, you basically confirmed what I originally posted, that Jesus had a beginning or a time when he was created. That is not how Jesus portrayed himself. When the LDS speak of ''God", one must go to what the founder declared to get a grasp of his definition. In the "Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, (349) it quotes Joseph: "In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it" That is a polytheistic view on its face. On 345 it says: "God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man" Brigham chimed in (Journal of Discourses 1:50) and said: When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives with him. .....He is Michael , the Archangel, the Ancient of Days about whom holy men have written and spoken..He is our FATHER and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do" "When the Virgin Mary conceived the child Jesus, The Father had begotten him in his own likeness, He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost . . . . . . Jesus our elder brother was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven" Jesus said no one has seen the father, yet In D&C 130:22 it states "The father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's: the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit." Prophet Lorenzo Snow understood this, and said: " As man is, God once was: as God is, man may become". In the Journal of Discourses 6:3-4, Joseph tells you how God came to be God, and that "God himself, who sits enthroned in yonder heavens, is a man like unto one of yourselves . . . .if you were to see him today, you would see him in all the person, image and very form as a man."
Jehovah revealed to the prophet Isaiah there is only himself, there are no other "Gods" anywhere else. Jesus made a clear statement many times of who He is, including that it was He talking to Moses on Mt Sinai, and except you accept and believe that (John 8:24) you will die in your sin....of unbelief. Josephs view, and all continuing LDS believe Jesus is but a creation , and formerly Michael . Joseph, et al, uses all the vernacular of biblical orthodoxy, yet with total redefinition of terms or meaning. Jesus warned of false Christs, as did Paul the Apostle who warned that even if an angel taught another Jesus or another gospel, they would be accursed. Each person will be judged what they believe concerning Jesus Christ. I have met a few who attend the LDS who do not buy into Josephs teaching on who Jesus is, rather they believe what Jesus said about who He is. Thank you for writing.....I do hope you reconsider the true nature of God, and who Jesus said He is. ( have a look at "It's me, Jessie" videos here on YT for in depth explanations )
