    I just love this board. In powder I do not have to talk about it, a dream. On groomers: Its a performance carver, the speed and edge hold you get is amazing. On moguls: The small tail allows you to make really fast and narrow turns. Just go bam, bam, bam. But you have to be fit to enjoy the advantages of the board. A board for advanced riders.

    All the negative reviews here need to understand what this board was designed for. It’s a high speed carver and powder stick that needs a more freeride oriented binding and mindset. In my opinion it rides exactly as K2 and Angry’s reviews state so if you want something more playful and mellow get, a party platter, dancehaul or something similar.

      @@kensmith9292 like you are saying i think there is just a marketing/expectation issue with the board. Some think it is supposed to be a party board. I heard it was a freeride charger and my expectations were a little off. A few people I ride with think it’s absolutely perfect.

    • @kensmith9292
      @kensmith9292 9 місяців тому +1

      @@brianp9268 Yeah, like he said, it’s mainly a powder stick that can hold an edge between stashes. It’s definitely not a charger or party board.

      Great point, this is the dedicated carver in my quiver. For icey days, it can’t be beat. I can lay down a cave with fully confidence. It’s never slipped once. Also, have the Party Platter and as the name suggests, it’s a blast. My other super fun board is Never Summer Harpoon and is my go to for playful surfy side hits and trees.

    • @LagmasterB
      @LagmasterB 6 місяців тому +2

      @@user-jz2dw3km2s One thing I’ll say, is that this is the worst season for testing this in PNW. That day at Alpental might have been the worst conditions I’ve ever ridden. Wet couple inches on top of ice. Went last Tuesday to home mountain with 4” of wet fresh. It was fun in stashes.
      Excavator really only good for powder and even-snow carving. IMO. Kind of a one-trick pony. Groomers pretty good. You gotta put a lot into it but it definitely trenches. Carving on morning groomers and smoother snow good. If you’re making turns in tracked out trees, or powder that’s a little tracked, meh. Not very nimble edge to edge. Stiff in the wrong places. It’s got weird torsional flex. Tons of nose if you’re trying to ride over chop and tracked-out terrain. Kept bucking me into back seat cause of setback. Everything about this board says “I’m not killing any quiver”. The Ravine Select I have is way better freeride, probably all-mountain board, although it’s probably a touch stiff for park. A better rider than me might say different and be correct.
      Also, I’m 100% sure that I suck at riding compared to Angry. But if you want a powder surfer that carves when you come down from bowl, come out of trees, etc.

    I just got a stupid hookup on 2024 Excavator 154. Bro Niño is harshing the entire state of Washington and PNW. Ghey. But I have a feeling it’s gonna be a longer winter/colder spring. I got a 154 Instrument last year. From what I can see and the specs, they’re almost the same board. Lots of nose. Lots of taper. I think Excavator gonna give me an edge in powder. I know the two mountains I go to pretty well, so I’ll be able to tell soon, how different they are, or are not.

    This was my daily driver for 2023. Got it based on an Angry recommendation in the 150 and it was amazing, esp. for all the dumps we got in Tahoe last winter. It seems more at home in powder than on hardpack but can still rip across the firm, beat-down stuff and get you to the bottom of the hill at the end of the day.

But as soon as a used one or last years model become available somewhere I'm getting it, unfortunately it seems to sell out everywhere with no leftovers. I've replaced my Bataleon Goliath 159 with K2 Excavator 154 22 as I'm not really freestyle oriented (only hitting big features) and I must say this board rips! The camber is precise and compared to 3D base of Bataleon when it locks, it just goes. I personally didn't feel like the chatter from the nose resonates to the front foot, but I can certainly see it in high speeds. K2 does sidecut radius really well and it's amazing how much power this board has, but as it was mentioned in the video, you can ride it "lazy" and it won't be a problem. For me personally it is a all mountain ripper and quiver of one, as I don't care about freestyle. And don't even get me started about powder performance... float for days.
    Maybe something changed from 22 to 24 board, because I remember watching your video on 22 Excavator and it was completely different review.

    100% agree. I rode this on two powder days last year. It was a great ride all day because it floats well on pow, and then easily cuts through all the choppy leftovers. To answer you guys, it’s a unique damp yet snappy board out of turns that likes to go medium fast. I’m old school so for me it initiates turns almost too fast but it does a lot of the work for you if you’re just cruising. It’s definitely a free ride board so if you want something more all mountain or park oriented go with the shadowban or something similar.

I do however live in the Midwest as was curious if there's a true twin you would suggest that rides like this.maybe a bit stiffer with more pop. Of my 3 decks (westmark rocker, Rossi OneLF, excavator) the K2 is my favorite feel. I'd like to find a twin I can get more switch riding on and park time with my grotch goblin since he's old enough now.

    Hi there, first of all love your reviews. Based in Ireland and board in Europe usually.
    I have a K2 Turbo Dream 157W, and more recently a K2 Joy Driver 164 which i can wrangle but find that its a bit of a chore a bit later in the day. Im 6'1", weigh about 200lbs with 12 boots. Im looking for a board that is volume shifted. I love to charge but also have friends that are learning to board so I was hoping to have one board that is powder capable, side hitty, nice carve vibes that a volume shifted brings to the table.
    Im loving the sound of the dance haul, but Im worried it might feel a bit unstable at speed like my old turbo dream. Then on the flip side I dont want to end up back in the land of having to keep on top of the board and watch out when you want to chill.
    Would the excavator do the slower side hit fun stuff and still allow me to push on, without too much of a comprimise? Or would I get away with the dance haul from a stability perspective.
    Thanks a million

    Hello Mr. Angry Sir,
    I bought this board 2 weeks ago in a 154. K2's site indicates you can downsize 4-10cm, but I am worried it's a bit too short for me after reading through some comments. (Have not ridden, can still return).
    I am 6', 200lbs, size 10 boot. Intermediate-Advanced.
    Would you recommend sticking with the 154, or exchanging for a 158? Downsized a bit extra for trees originally,.

I was looking at the NS Swift, but you mentioned something about it tasting like lasagna, which I love lasagna, but for a board, did not sound so good. So now I am thinking this. Am I on the right track or is there something else (Jones Hovercraft? Yes Un Inc., Capita Navigator?) I should be looking at? I am 6'1" and geared up, 205lbs. 58 or 62??? Help me Mr. Angry.

    I actually bought this board a few months ago, based on the previous review of it here, but I found it one of the biggest disappointments of my Snowboarding life.
    The best way to describe it is, 'Dull'. It's like a glass of water. Unadventurous, Nondescript, Insipid, Lifeless.
    It is stable and damp, but then again so are many other boards, but they still manage to preserve some character. On edge, you don't feel any spring from the camber under foot. It's sidecut sucks.
    Not ridden it in Pow, but wouldn't want to either.
    And the Union Force would be too soft for it.
