- Abakaliki is the capital city of Ebonyi State in southeastern Nigeria, located 64 kilometres (40 mi) southeast of Enugu.[2] The inhabitants are primarily members of the Igbo nation.[1] It was the headquarters of the Ogoja province before the creation of the Southeastern State in 1967.

Owerri, Enugu and Awka are also beautiful in their own ways. It is only Abia that needs to seriously upgrade. But Alex Otti is up to the task. Ebonyi was nothing spectacular until Dave Umahi arrived. It takes one visionary man to build a state, its capital and commercial cities. Abakaliki doubles as both the administrative and commercial city of Ebonyi State.

It is quite impressive to see the giant strides Dave Umahi has made in the capital city of Abakaliki. The youngest South East state but really growing by leaps and bounds because of the efforts of one visionary man.

@@sbrecipe2485 Beautiful houses and good road network. Anambra State is really ahead of others but others like Ebonyi are trying as well. No one is competing here but let's call a spade a spade. Development in Igboland entered through Onitsha in Anambra State but Dave did a great work.
Abakiliki is what we call real development .. am from Anambra but honestly abakiliki is the best now in south east

@@outravelandtour He is right. I've been a resident of Enugu state since 1988 and It has gone to the dogs. I went to Abakaliki, Ishielu and Afikpo South for my PhD data collection and was blown away at how sane, hospitable, humble and beautiful these places were along with the indigenes. I have even made it my go to holiday location.
Ebonyi reminds me of what Enugu used to be in its days of glory which is gone. Enugu is now a mini Lagos; crazy traffic, rude people, noisy with dirty environment.

A place that developed on its own should be valued.... The whole Eastern brothers hates this state and no one invests there. They grew their own state by their hands and when they are done growing.. The insulting SE brothers shouldn't complain of how they are Treated.. This happened in Enugu, there was a time Enugu people suffered in the hands of Other Igbo Brothers..

This is Abakaliki for the which somebody said has made Ebonyi state now become the most beautiful state in the whole of south east. Do you now see why one nigeria must need to be dismantled at all cost, because everything coming from one nigeria is all lies. When only Abakaliki which is still receiving a facelift, and which is the only feasible city in Ebonyi state will be used as a parameter to adjudge the whole lot Ebonyi state as the most beautiful state in the south east, that tells you that one nigeria has destroyed those who call themselves nigerians.
