    bewoke.vote - Strength through Struggle… Be Woke.Vote
When you are down, it doesn’t mean you are out. People of color have seen some of the darkest times in America. It is time to vote for our future. Through the eyes of Ali Siddiq, comes a conversation about what it means to be black in America, having self-effacement and voting to make a change. In this brand-new interview hosted by Roland Martin Unfiltered, we explore the dynamics of prison reform, registering to vote and urban communities. With the current administration, it feels they do not care about people of color. Your time is now to make a change by voting. - This is Be Woke.

Well, when you have common sense, that's how it should work. When you interview someone and keep letting your opinion be known, it defeats the purpose. It's not a debate. Do a follow up video if you want your contrary opinion to be known.

ucnhtmenow1 it’s also different when you’re discussing something real or important. If it’s just lighthearted pop culture nonsense or just shooting the shit then I think it’s cool to interject here and there but in this case dude had plenty to share and was allowed to do so

Relatable: at age 19 (2 years in college), my dad told me I had to go, and kick me out on to the mean streets of Kingston, Jamaica. It was a dark episode that I have tried to forget; but, I made damn sure that my son, now 22, doesn't go through that. He wants to be a pathologist (very long course of study) and he is staying here, in this house, until he DECIDES to leave. The street is no joke,

Yes, I’m so happy that I found him as well! As a teacher, I hear children that also romanticize “selling drugs!” Many kids, especially kids that have one or both parents incarcerated seem to regard prison as some type of rite of passage. I had a ten year old tell me that when he grows up, he will go to school, probably get locked up and then have a family! I was astounded, being a person from the toughest part of DC (SE), I’ve seen how kids try to deal ! I’ve taught elementary-high school and I thought I’d seen it all but this got me! Violence is something that I’ve always dealt with, I even witnessed a student being shot to death in my neighborhood high school when I taught there. Now that I’m back in elementary in Maryland and general education, I had a student ask me to walk them home because people r shooting. I said, “Well, as my mom told me, in elementary at that, “you better duck and run and you better not get shot!” I’ve seen so much so I also warn them to stop running towards the action, carry your asses in the opposite direction, that’s the only reason I’m alive today! Ali Saddiq is my new hero, thank u for not glorifying selling drugs and hustling!

Thinking like this shows how unaware humans can be.. it takes pressure to make a diamond... you haven’t had enough pressure I’m sure... when you fall on hard times and you go thru your pressure chamber and there is NO way out and you can’t control anything around you I hope you come out with the insight this man has. Not many people can walk thru fire and do it with this kind of spirit... This may not relate to you but being a smart talker doesn’t help being a woke walker is what this world needs... if you’re gonna be a “talker” at least bring something useful to the table... all I’m trying to say is you missed the point of what this man is trying to do. You think he’s not aware what the problem is? Obviously it’s the main message. He’s a fairly new face but I think he’s on to something he’s riding the rails rn but I still follow his work cuz I can’t wait to see the movement he creates once he finds his groove.. I believe his goal is very close to Dave Chappell.. he just needs time... LOVE ❤️

@@velvetrope6561 I wonder what is wrong with you, for a change. The whole interview is a gem, but this one statement above on voting is spot on. Yes, there is a lot of wrong with the US as a nation and a system. You have not even noticed how you have been transformed into this..

Thank you sincerely brother for everything you do for us fans and especially the convicts watching.

HOW is Ali Siddiq not bigger right now? He is SO FUNNY and has an amazing story. He was able to speak to SEVERAL UNITS and evoke change so much so that an entirely other ethnicity offered to join them. THAT is powerful AF!! I have never been to prison and I have never been to jail but I do have family that has been to both places and came back fk'd up worse than when they went in. OLD PEOPLE ARE KEY. They can keep us (any poor black and brown person, yes black people need to unite but all minorities need to just have some compassion and understand it's about solidarity) from repeating the same mistakes. They can help us identify the traps and pitfalls that they got stuck in. I freakin love Ali!!

    • @drew856856

He probably won't ever forget it. That's a number that's burned in memory. If you didn't know that number you could be beat to a pulp or killed. It's something most won't understand unless you yourself had a number.( A SBI# and state#) He seems like he's doing good though. Those scars made him strong. But I do hope he forgets that number even though he probably won't.

I remember washing clothes on a Saturday in New Orleans at a laundromat. That was around the corner from the St. Thomas Projects. A older guy looked at me and said you are different from these other guys in this neighborhood. I have been watching you and you got that glow in your eyes, and you know something that they don't. Now what you need to do is start sharing that information with the rest of these guys. I am not one to listen to just anybody but you know when somebody is coming from a deep place. That neighborhood was crime and drug infested, with crackheads and high unemployment. Grown men would always be begging for money. So I took the old guys advice and started telling folks little things here and there, and how to make money. That was when Temporary Services had started popping up everywhere. I told some guys to go there and they could work and earn money because begging for small amounts of change was nothing for a grown man. I talked to a guy that used to date a sister of a friend. Now this guy was hooked on crack, but talked to him about how he used to be. And that he could live like that again, he actually stopped using drugs and started working again. I am just now realizing why I was put in that neighborhood. I even had a lady friend tell me that people light up when they see you. So being an older guy myself, now I never miss an opportunity to lend advice to a young person. Today I encounter a lot of young ladies that be crying and stressing about young men. I tell them to stay strong and be patient. That if a guy doesn't treat you right then he is not the man for you. And that you will find someone much better that will love and respect the woman that you are just be patient. Because most young men and some ladies too don't even recognize a good thing when they see it anyway. They are too caught up in your body type, or material things. Because we don't live with stuff, we live with people, and it is very important who they are,and how they treat us.
