I learned so much from this tutorial, thank you! I’m going to give it a go and try drawing a whale with graphite while watching this video again to follow along. It’s incredible how much you can do with just a few simple supplies that are quite accessible to most people, if you have the right skills, talent and patience.

I sat and did an eye how to a few days iago and I've regressed a little but I have been working 50 hour weeks for a long time now. But I'm hoping to get a break soon. I'm always curious about your design process for your dragon drawings. Showing how you come up with designing any fantasy creature intrigues me. I'd love to hear/see your process about pulling ideas from imagination and/or combining references for the basis of the image. I adore your dragons, but when I go to design my own I feel lost - do I start with dinosaur/dog/horse/animal structure anatomy and go from there with a theme (such as floral adornments, like your "jungle" dragon)? I'd love to just see your process for any theme dragon. It would be amazing to see you start with sketching out components/types of scales/elements/body shape/color ideas etc. Thanks for your consideration, I adore your work :)

Wow! I found you as I work with pastels and I'm currently drawing my first bear, a kodiak bear which I made some changes to from the picture I was using, however I was having so much trouble getting his eyes and nose right and no matter where I searched I couldn't find an artist working with the same materials I was using on a close up bear. In my search I found your bear drawing and you helped so much I managed to finally get them right on my own drawing! Then I saw this video as I love all animals but have a few favourites whales being one of them so I had to watch! You make it look so easy! I drew cartoons etc as a kid then didn't draw again for a good 15 years till I was having my daughter and hand drew all the characters on her nursery walls and painted them, I chose the jungle book as everyone was using winnie the pooh etc at that time and I wanted to be different. After that I didn't draw again until I had fought a long and tiresome battle with cancer starting when my daughter was just 3. I beat the cancer but was very ill with radiation poisoning from my treatment which left me with massive internal damage, spinal damage and chronic pain. After being stuck in bed for years on and off a year and a half ago (13 and half years after my illness started) I decided I was going to teach myself to draw more realistic things, mainly animals as that's what I love. Since I started a year and a half ago I've done over a dozen Commissions, but at the moment I'm not taking anything on as I'm now battling kidney failure, so I'm doing drawings for my portfolio on the days I'm well enough to be able to get up and spend time at my drawing table.
I find your art just amazing and love to watch you draw animals. I'd love to see you draw a jaguar/black leopard, an animal I have a special meaning with. Keep up your art its just wonderful to watch.
