From his domination lines against Sniper and when looking for Merasmus, it can be inferred that he has read Tolkien but misremembers the name of every character, while very occasionally remembering Bilbo's correctly. He knows cyclops come from Greek mythology. Soldier's mind is a short collection of accurate knowledge flimsily held together by an endless vortex of worthless, verifiably wrong junk. I have a feeling Harry would be endlessly fascinated by him should they ever meet.
