Used this guide after loosing the first raid on my town. Destroyed the next raiding party!
Anyone that reads this that was in my position, if you don't confirm the change to the unit it does not change. The unit's rectangle will visually change if something was applied.

My city is currently sandwiched between two other cities and I just barely got a 500 unit army just to get one of them to stop demanding stuff every year. Glad I saw this video first before I got attacked. Had no clue about the training requirement for them and I don't think my barely trained peasants would have survived contact with the enemy.

I new to the game, but i refused all demands of other nations and nothing but happened. There was same decrease in relations but its temporary. But i started training army a lot earlier by 100 people.

@@ravensblade Huh, never noticed that change then. In earlier versions, I'd say no and an army would show up to take what they wanted anyway. Or maybe I have rotten luck. But yeah, I tend to be slow when it comes to getting stuff like armies. Good to know that it can be done by 100 people.

Personally i see no reason to wait so long to start training some army. Even 0% training soldiers with no gear act as deterrent, increase your power and can fight off some bandits. And you can train 100 of them with 5 person training room.
Yes there are some causalities, once i lost 15 men fighting against 15 armed bandits with over 90 people. But that is fixed almost immediately by migration, and the looted gear and slaves are worth it.

Absolutely right from your side! It's just impossible to explain everything in this series in the correct order cause the game ain't that linear. So whatever I explain, it might be always usable way earlier than presented here.

I started training my army around 900 pops, but went into full melee training. Leather armor + swords do the job. If I remember correct humans dont like using archers, but they like being heavy infantry.
With one large antroch pasture I totally overproduce leather - I use armors for upgrades, training of my army and I even sell excess. I have almost full two regiments (each 50 pops), so most probably I will start producing steel armor and use it for next two regiments.
To be honest: cost of not having the army is small and acceptable. Quite recently I've lost about 20k of silver... and this is where it hurts ;-P. On the other hand, I dont even recall this particular situation (I dont even read demands, just accept them). But before that it was a statistical problem. I believe You did well not going into military too early. Strong city can quickly raise strong army, while small'ish town can have just bit of cannon fodder.
Just recently I've lost 6 dead and 10 injured in accident in the bakery. How???

Flour is highly flammable and its dust can explode with a single spark. Baker and even more so miller was a dangerous job back in the days.

@@SxSxG666 I could agree with miller, less with baker. And yes, flour is flammable and even exploseive when creates an aerosol with air, but this goes for every material that is flammable. Sawdust aerosol is also explosive. Alluminium aerosol is explosive. The idea of aerosol made from flammable particles is explosive ;-). But bakery is rather on safe side ;-P

@@failsafe123123 Oh boy :) I just googled for exploding bakeries and it seems to be a thing even nowadays. They apparently explode left and right of us. At least in my country.

I was hoping to find out why no one is manning my catapults or what factors influence security and raid %. These two things alone have broken my play-through. Adding more soldiers doesn't seem to increase my security. I have less security at 700 troops as I did with 200. The only thing my army size seems to effect is the size of the raiders' army. I gave up trying to match the strength of raiders long ago. One of their solders seems to be worth at least 50 of mine. Also, the more weapons and armor I have, the higher my riches become and the larger the raiders army becomes. I have amassed 800 heavy armor but due to raider scaling, I am struggling just as much against raiders as I did when I had 100 heavy armor. Most of my net worth is based on heavy armor for troops that route the second one touches a raider. The higher my wealth becomes, the more the raiders demand from me. For a while I sold all my armor and weapons to decrease my riches, but I felt like I was missing a large part of the game by not having an army and my economy was getting tanked from paying raiders every couple of days. My armies are at around 50-60% trained with 3-4 heavy armor and weapons each. My archers are at 90% and max bows but raiders shrug off their attacks. So I resorted to catapults. Hundreds of them. On top of thick grand walls. It cost me millions to build but I was desperate. Problem is, whenever I raiders enter the map, all of the civilians manning my catapults just flee. I thought I solved the issue by not mustering my trained troops and letting them man the catapults, but they either don't man the catapults or they flee as well. I can't find a solution. It did randomly work a couple of times and I won pretty easily, but its very unreliable. Is this a glitch? It's making the game unplayable but I have sunken so many hours into it.

To this day im still amazed by the fact i discovered this game only a month ago. How is it not at least as popular as Vintage Story (as an example of a non-mainstream game)

Vintage Story is already very obscure yet one of the best games ever made :)

If u decline that raid request, how many soldiers they have ?

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  5 місяців тому +2

Depends on the raider battalion. Usually they have quite low numbers and can easily be defeated by well equipped soldiers. I just personally dislike the combat system as of yet and avoid combat in Syx wherever I can :D
