    Nice!
    If I understand it correctly that lens is a very fast one for a 8x10 camera!
    Hopefully you can resume your life again when the silly lockdown ends!

      Normally I shoot with F3 lenses, but for group shots I think this kind of a lens is much better. It is pretty fast for 300mm and it is also not that price like my Dallmeyer 3B that has a similar focal length

    Austria: *Builds new mounting plate for large format lens with compatible flange*
    Meanwhile I can't find a place to cut a small metal piece to fix the Auto Lens Cocking-mechanism on my Mamiya C330 that was removed.
    Ahh South Africa.

    I was thinking about getting a 3d printer for lensboards and other stuff. In the end I got a CNC. When I see this video I’m glad I did ;) . Lensboards take 10 minutes instead of 8 hours (and are wood). Many People don’t know that for 8x10 (and higher) you need to be a handyman as well! Nice vid Markus.

      @mhaustria  2 роки тому

      Thanks a lot Philip. I totally can understand you, I was thinking to get a machine that can do both, but it is pretty loud and expensive. The cnc designing is a bit more complicated from my point of view. Maybe I get one some day. Which one did you get?

      I just finished a family shooting with that lens and this time a little fail turned out to be helpful. Will upload the video soon.

    Nice to see others having to go through the troubleshooting process too.. I was just mounting the flange for my first petzval on an extra lens board and the brass screws kept breaking within the hard wood of the lens board! Ugh. Works for now though!

    • @mhaustria
      @mhaustria  2 роки тому

      its always a pain to fix those things, but after it worked all out its a wonderful feeling to hold a finished plate in your hands and know what you have done to get there.

      Never put brass screws (regardless of size) straight into hardwood. Always run a same-size steel screw in as a sort of tap.

      @@paulwomack5866 thanks for your comment, what do you mean with tap?

      @@mhaustria No, sawing an enormous hole in the lens board (without breaking it).
      Just mark with compass, saw (near) to line, finish to sandpaper on a broom handle.
