In saying "Look what you did, Carl didn't know a Damned thing" he was conveying to Rick that he had gone against Carl's wishes and Rick didn't change. Rick takes a moment to digest those words and realized what he had done. Fortunately Rick was able to save Negan and establish a peaceful resolve. There is a lot of negativity about the last season (there are some iffy parts) but as a whole, I thought it was great. Can't wait till the next season!
