Oh, and I *ABSOLUTELY* believe that Andrew Lincoln left the show because that was the final straw. He won't likely ever publicly admit that, for he is a gentleman & a professional. Of course he is saying he just wants to spend more time with his family in the UK (and I'm sure there's truth to that), but NO ONE WILL EVER convince me that killing off Rick's sole purpose for living did not push Andy right out the damn door (sooner, rather than later).

And yeah, the governor was such a well-written character, that he was the firmly established Bad Guy by season 4, and yet for two whole episodes during that season, the audience couldn't help but support him.
I think Carl and negans talk about principles and morals is symbolic. Because Carl is on top of the tower speaking to negan like a guardian angel or higher power asking him who he wants to be. This also works because negan had a genuine friendship with Carl almost. Carl is like the angel on negans shoulder that was almost controlling negan in a way. That's also why it's stupid that they killed Carl off and it's worse that it wasn't in the comics. Carl and negan could have been an amazing duo in the final season.
I hear some people say that Negan's redemption is forced but even while he was being a menace to Rick and everyone there were still those moments of compassion, like with Sasha, Gabriel, and Carl. Especially Carl. At 3:26 he sound so genuinely sad
