I am looking at getting a lift. Think I will make my own. Can make it better using aluminum and stainless for the aesthetics. Thanks for the show fella. VF
@@BlakesDen Blake, I am planing to use a gearbox that is a smaller size for sure. I think that I can make two using spiral bevel gears which are stronger, smaller overall size, and way quieter too. The rest will be aluminum and stainless for sure. I just love the look and shine of polished stainless and aluminum for sure. Peace, VF
@@BlakesDen When the weather becomes really cold and my work outside is finished I will make one to use for myself. Will keep you in the loop with pictures and design diagrams for you to get some guidance too. VF
You're braver than me getting under that thing. The only use I can see for it is to lift a car so you can use 4 axle stands without faffing about moving a jack to each corner
It depends what work you are doing I guess. It made removing the rear subframe very easy as I would normally put axle stands under the subframe. I would love to have a two post lift but I can't justify getting one at the moment
How did you weld up the sills, using this lift or axel stands? Mine need doing, I thought I could use this lift mounted of the chasis rail and leave the sills free to use?
I welded up the sills before I started using the lift. I was worried that the shell would distort if I used the lift with a sill removed. However if you set it to the narrowest setting and apply some additional bracing around the doors then it might be ok. You would need to ensure that your floor pan is pretty solid.
I would love to have one of these, but I have a modern car and it weight 1550kg which is 50kg over what the lift says it can handle. Do you think it would be ok or do you think I shouldn't risk it?
I think that they do a 2 tonne version which should work. To be fair, the 1500kg version would probably do it but the shear pin on the motor drive may break first, it is designed to do that.
Hi. I'm using a Bosch SDS drill with the hammer action turned off. I think its only 700 watts. The user guide for the lift recommend 1050 watts but I guess that is for heavier cars
Yes, it has a pin that goes through a tube to lock the angle. The instructions recommend putting axle stands under the car to prevent it from tipping onto you should the pin fail.
Just bought one of these and discovered there's not enough space in my garage to slide it underneath cars! Now I have to work out a way to drive a car over it😭😆
I believe that CJ autos sell some low profile ramps which allow you to drive the car into position with the lift in place. I could do with making some myself to make life easier.
Bonjour, j'aimerai savoir où on peut trouver votre système de levage, je suis français et ne parle pas anglais mais je peux utiliser google traduction. Merci de votre réponse. David

Not much hassle at all really. I reverse up some normal car ramps and then slide it under. It's not the easiest of things to position but it works well.
@@BlakesDen im torn between this and thd mid range scissor lift, i think ig woyld do the mini ok but thr t2 campervan i think the sills are just too wide for it to be secured safely
It is width adjustable, I've got mine on the widest setting I think. But ultimately you need to choose what works best for yourself and your vehicles. For mini's I'm very happy with it, I've not tried it on anything bigger.
Very informative. Mine arrives next week, its for a different kind of Mini though, 2004 MCS.
I'm really pleased with mine. It makes working on the Mini so much easier.

I'd be interested to see how that works out. I did think about doing something similar but I just didn't have the time to design and fabricate it.

just bought myself the same make found the video very good and helpful

Hi I have the same ramp but wanting a drill to lift and lower the ramp can I ask why drill are you using at what Watt is it ? Thanks

Can you lock it so it stops tilting? I mean if you are under the back how can you be sure it doesn't tilt its nose up.
Yes, it has a pin that goes through a tube to lock the angle. The instructions recommend putting axle stands under the car to prevent it from tipping onto you should the pin fail.
Cool 😎
What's everyones thought of it after using it a while thinking of buying one myself ?
All the feedback that I have had is positive

@@BlakesDen or old scaffold planks would work a treat too
how heavy is this lift
It's about 90kg so not quite heavy. It castors on it to help you get it into position

How much hastle it having to lift the mini to get it underneath. Ive been looking at the low profile but evdn then it still wouldnt clear the exhaust
