Hey everyone, I realized I haven't been including the talent build I've used in testing in the videos. I'll try to do that for the remaining tanks, but here's what I've landed on as my favorite build from testing so far: www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/warrior/protection/mountain-thane/DAPBUFBVFUgUVCaFBQCUQNVVFERBVFVZVFQCREEFVVUCAQ Thanks for watching and hope you all find this info helpful!
I picked warrior just on class fantasy a while ago and I'm very happy to see it's a contender for one of your favourite tanks. I was not expecting that! I just didn't want it to be bottom of the pile as I pug and that makes getting in to dungeons hard.
Issues still remain, warrior brings very little to the table in terms of pugging m+. If mobs feared you a lot and thus risking pulling more packs then warrior with berserker shout would be desired but currently in beta its good because of numbers and we know the drill now. Warrior brings nothing but output, other tanks cry all day, warrior gets nerfed and stays that way intil next expansion. I have 0 faith in blizzard in this regard, DH remained top pick since forever and they did nothing about, they even admitted in recent interview that they tune things around raids and few top mythic raiding guilds. I wanted to main a tank 1st time ever but with these new affixes...I dont know. Mountain thane looks very good, ill probably play that no matter the performance.
@@AAKhanivore no specific goals, I will see how far it goes. If it doesnt work out I will go back to maining a healer but just by looking at these affixes I will probably grind solo qeue RBGs
To be fair here I'm not really focused on tuning or number comparisons yet; I don't think tuning has really been done yet, but Prot's toolkit feels great IMO and the spec just feels fantastic to play for me.
@@ThordrenekGaming you are focussed on the right things. The tier list merchants are selling snake oil until numbers are locked in and even then things can change.
Hands down one of the best summaries of a tank spec for the war within! Exactly what I have been looking for. Do you plan on making one for each tank class? Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am planning on doing this for all of the tanks, but I need to put in more M+ testing on the remaining four. I was hoping I'd be able to do a lot of Brew and Guardian testing this last weekend but M+ was not open on the beta unfortunately.
I've mained prot warrior (and when dual spec was made available fury too) for 19 years now even when its "weak" I still play it and never had an issue doing any content, the question for me is what hero talent tree
I like both a lot but I think Mountain Thane will probably be better, especially in season 1, because it increases rage generation pretty significantly. Also it looks sick!
1. the problems regarding protection warrior are mainly initial aggro. the target that you missed with thunder clap, will have already picked off an ally of yours by the time its cooldown is refreshed. extremely punishing and especially so in the level of player moralization. you give up with warrior mainly because every single newly pack of mobs requires additional effort to threat startup. 2. the most important bullet point is the sovereignty index of the tank class. by that i mean the staple element of tanking that has the highest uptime and contributes the most to your tanking agency, meaning ignore pain healing, shield block, indomitable healing, and among that, every single other talent that reinforces these 3 elements. ive seen too many warriors as a healer either be absent from mythic plus in general, or being rickety and getting exalted status with the ground.
It's definitely higher effort than some of the other tanks. I like making use of Heroic Throw while rounding up a pull, especially if there's a mob that will be a bit outside of where I plan to stand and open with Thunder Clap. Something like opening with HT on that mob and then charging to another can give enough snap aggro to ensure someone else doesn't get destroyed on pull. Warrior is definitely more dependent on the healer than some of the other tanks, especially if there's sustained magic damage or bleeds involved, and a lot of less experienced warriors probably spend too much rage on Revenge and not enough on Ignore Pain. I think it feels very sturdy though as long as you're keeping Shield Block up as close to 100% as possible and using most of the rest of your rage on IP. Thank you for the great comment! :)
Whirlwind should be fury only at this point. Even arms it turns whirlwind into cleave now and you can no longer use whirlwind and cleave at the same time as arms. I’ve said this for years as I play all 3 specs and have for years prot uses revenge fury uses whirlwind and arms is cleave they should just be baseline for the spec at level 10 when you spec into either one of them. It gives you only that skill for that spec. It makes sense and helps new players know how to aoe better as that spec that they are!
Co-main lol, prolly whats gonna happen for me. BDK and Warr are the same feels for me as well. Bear is right up there though! If they end up updating bears arcane animations....miiiight be going fuzzy wuzzy for the expac at first lol
It's not as good as any of the options it's competing with (it may not even be good, getting a second charge of Ravager isn't worth the -30% damage on it; the rage might be useful but I don't think it's worth the damage loss). Nobody plays it currently and I don't see that changing in TWW without some big tuning adjustments.
We went through this already. By legion/bfa we were all pruned so hard. Shadowlands and df gave us back our skills. Don’t prune that shit again. Keybind more lol

Oh my god, I just realized that the warrior tier set shoulders + helm combo, from behind and above, look like a dead spider and I can't unsee it.
It fits with the raid! haha

Mage tower flail flex, love it. I only use mine.
It's just such a cool weapon mog :)

I really want to like Bear but I have some major gripes about the spec tree. I'll elaborate on that when I make the Guardian video :)
we can have a competition to see if we can have more warriors or paladins in our raid group...
All plate raid group go.
Is storm and steel really useless?

@@ThordrenekGaming soo weird that they basicly nerfed that path of the tree since it has been dead for 4 seasons
Yeah I don't get what they're trying to do there. The Warrior and Prot trees feel fine to me though, so I won't complain too much about it.
What's a prot warrior
I subbed but i'm sad you haven't done a video on Guardian druid yet 🙏😥
Thank you for the sub! Guardian will be coming in the next few days, I've had a crazy week but will have time to get Brew and Guardian done soon :)
I wish they reduced button bloat a bit.
This is a valid concern for Prot. I love all of the CDs it has access to though.
@@ThordrenekGaming they should stay, I don't want to limit players like you I just want some passive options for those active buttons
