      @@kurama8036 yes I'm very proud. It's going to be very hot at Parris Island in June. Little advice, start running NOW. That will help a lot when you're in your Platoon. Get ready to be yelled at a lot. Your Drill Instructors will be in your face, sometimes all three. Do NOT look the Drill Instructors in their eyes. Look at their forehead. Unless they say "Look at my eyes." Trust me that may not happen. Good Luck. Greetings from Charleston, West Virginia. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

      beans bullets and bandages Company Gunny.. without the enlisted Marines and the N.C.O's all being trained and on top of their individual Job skills in their respective M.O.S.' that gunny is up s##t creek

      #1) wake Island was a battle yes.. #2) The major who was the C.O. of that small group of isolated Marines had the weight of the world on his shoulders it was either literally lose every single Marine under his command in what would have been an inevitable slaughter they would have ran out of ammo, water and food in just a matter of a few days due to the fact that the U.S. Navy fleet had been hit very hard at pearl harbor and there was a Loss of support from the U.S. for the Stranded Marines at wake Island. so the C.O. of the Marines at Wake Island "Major Devereux" made a command decision.
      in hindsight, some of those Marines survived the war as P.O.W's and were later repatriated but many were killed/ beheaded and tortured or died in captivity.
      so yes perhaps 20/20 vision looking back perhaps Major Devereux made a bad on-the-spot decision but he cannot be faulted for that that was a tough call. he didn't want to watch all those Marines die.
      meantime a lot was learned about the nature of the Japanese Military and how ruthless they were and that was literally THEE VERY LAST TIME that they were taken lightly as Soldiers having honor in my opinion they weren't honorable at all they were murderers and rapists as proven in China's occupation and the Philippines. and the Marines never let up and took Island after Island after Island as payback for Pearl Harbor as well as Wake Island.
      so in reality We as Marines DID WIN THAT FIGHT! we destroyed them all across the Pacific. Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, IWO JIMA, Guam, Peleliu etc.. etc..
      the fight we won was the entire Pacific campaign. the first battle. It wasn't really a battle in essence it was an unprovoked attack. that began WWII for the U.S. THEN!!!!! the battles began. but yes the BATTLE OF WAKE ISLAND happened and it was a Tragedy for the United states Marines Corps due to those guys being trapped on an island with no support whatsoever. it was either hey lets all die here or hey lets have a shot at surviving this situation because we don't know what the hell is going on the C.O. made the call.

    Females serve in Artillery now but when I was an Artillery Marine we never had any serving amongst us i'm sure the dynamic is somewhat different as far as how people talk and act in the field. we took dumps at will with a shovel or e/tool in a lil semi-circle with other 0811s or whatever and had conversations we would do Field Hygiene showers where we washed up etc.. etc.. I'm not saying it's not good I'm saying I'm sure it's a lot different. than when I served { 1985-2006}

    It funny how he talks about maturing the force. Is that for junior marines or Senior enlisted cause maturing the force should be enforced on senior enlisted to and SNCO. This is the number one reason why retention is so low right now in the marine corps

      The schools in the Marine Corps are excellent at instructing leadership and tactics and Military Doctrine.
      what Iv'e seen is more a cultural demise within America as a nation then the Marine Corps has to clean up the mess of what our lacking family unit failed to do so what u are talking about is a generation gap in morals and family values in America and it eventually infiltrates the U.S. Military in general all branches are suffering from this. not just the Marines. as far as retention yes I understand your point and yes Lack of maturity or lack of ability too see the need for a better set of values and moral compass. but I do see Marine Corps Schools being Longer.. and more flexible Infantry school is like 14 weeks long now. it used to be like 6-8 weeks when I served in the eighties. so yes there are some problems I had my share of problems when I served the term Semper fi seemed to be US Marines loyal to the Corps but the Corps not always being loyal to us.. we had to get all we could out of our time in service... the training the certificates the medals and ribbons the rank the pay the experience the Intangibles of being a Marine. that,s what we walk away with.

    Maybe the Marine Corp wouldn't suck so bad if it stopped eating the crayons the state-department keeps sending them in their food rations.

      It’s actually ignorant to recall that when the reason the moral is so terrible is you should hear how marine corp officers talk about and treat enlisted marines. We seen multiple marines die in Iraq simply because officers wanted to use the qrf vehicles and so they had no way to medevac the kids wounded who ultimately died. This is just one example but I can think of thousands where they literally treat them like garbage and everything he’s said is the public persona version

  • @klk1900

    Btw somebody should ask him about how the marine corp officers treat the marines like garbage and see them as cannon fodder. Most marines are privy to the briefing tent so they have no idea how the officers talk about them like they are worthless pawns. It’s completely uncalled for and not effective on the battle field. We saw dozens of marines killed in Iraq where it was preventable. The officers instead of finding a better way to skin the cat they sent them on suicide missions when we have the most technology and it’s uncalled for.

    Can't stand this guy. I guess he wouldn't be too bad if he didn't find Marines that die in training accidents a nuisance.
