Also not just moving you’re feet, but he also does a cris over step on the first step which helps him cover bit more ground to get across goal. Very crucial. Not every time you will have to use it. But on here it useful, because the guys are shooting from a far distance, if they were closer like they did previously, then just the shuffle step.
Completely agree, one of the most useful skills to develop for high level goalkeeping is figuring out how to stay engaged throughout the entire match as well as figuring out how you can cover the most angles you can in net. Thanks for the comment my friend.
great video as always, really nice to hear the right things highlighted about Ben's technique. Funnily enough used to play inside that done, and feels strange to see Ben in the same place! Any chance of a video on how you look after / how regularly you wash your gloves, as it's a fairly large part of any keepers life. keep up the good work, Come on u Horns
Appreciate the kind words Archie, what a crazy coincidence though. Is it Watford's training pitch or somewhere else? If you dont mind me asking. And yes of course, hadnt thought about that, my glove care procedure is pretty straight-forward and basic but yall might enjoy and get something out of it, so I'll see what I can do.
In fairness to Ben, he talked about in another video from the same day about how he was out of shape at that point. If anything, though, it really highlights Ben’s incredible ability even more! Ps do you have any tips to increase distance on goal kicks? As always I appreciate the content!
Thanks for the info Lucas, yeah that makes a lot of sense and doesn't take away from Ben's abilities at all. As I expressed myself, these deadball type shooting drills are basically made for field players to score. Ben was at a major disadvantage and still managed to save roughly 90% of the shots. Tips for increasing distance on goalkicks, I would recommend studying the likes of ederson and practice throwing your entire body into the kick, not just your leg. I'm planning on doing a video on this really soon so stay tuned for a more details and in depth breakdown on the topic in the near future. Appreciate the comment and support my friend.
@@AmericanProfessional1 Hey I dont know if you read this but I would love a reaction to a video by hte same guy ChrisMD where he shot 100 shots against a keeper who is 50 rated in fifa. its great
Another good thing to focus on is how stable in steps, movements and forms that Ben reacted to all the shots. This is something that UA-cam or social media goalkeepers could hardly showed. They might be able to dive high or produce good camera show-offs, but they could possibly do it once in ten shots, all they need are simply the video anyway. But every saves are crucial for pros. What really distinguishes between amateur and pros is not how fancy the movements are or how bizarre their training looks like, is about the stability in performance. Pros always present the optimal solutions to the shots, not for fancy camera angle but for simply keeping more shots out of goal. This is what I stressed most in my coaching lecture or seminar for young coaches, be useful and practical first, and then think about the variations, not the other way around.
Everyone has a unique mentality so there is no end all be all answer, but I would say that, generally, you should try to stay confident, engaged, and relaxed. Those are hard things to achieve all at once, but the best players I've ever played with/against all tend to have said mentality during matches. I would recommend taking deep controlled breaths throughout the match in order to resettle yourself and stay relaxed while also maintaining focus. Thanks for the comment friend.
@@AmericanProfessional1 thanks for responding we just had a match won by a lot. Keep uploading these videos i like to learn from them and use you're advice in matches.
Agreed. A little discussed topic in high level goalkeeping. Being unpredictable is one of the most advantageous skills to posses as a top flight striker. Thanks for the comment friend.
The FIFA federation that just ranked the MLS as the 6th most valuable league in the world as well as the numerous top flight teams signing American players like crazy right now might have a different opinion than yourself, but hey everyone has a right to their own ideas. Thanks for the comment sir

18:28-18:30 Ben Foster just gave me vibes from when Rob Green spilled it in the USA v England world cup match back in 2010.
Exactly the thought that ran through my head when I first saw this. Disappointed I didn’t speak on it while taping. Thanks for the comment my friend.

Of course brother, great shout. Thanks for the kind words and recommendation.
A reaction to this video from the freekickers goalkeeper with Manuel Neuer would be awesome m.ua-cam.com/video/4wLBhj_yzaU/v-deo.html
When it comes to football (aka soccer) the US isn't really a good country for it just stick to american football
