- We sent huge Harry Potter fan Vicki Pipe around London to visit some of the locations where the Potter movies have been filmed, and the books were set.

***** Hitchcock would be a great one! Lots of iconic locations. Unfortunately the former Gainsborough Studios is now a block of flats but there is a statue of him there.
Yes we could have one about all the locations in Frenzy, such as those in and around Covent Garden (including the doorway of the famous tracking shot from Rusk's flat down the stairs in the studio set and out through the door onto the pavement, with the join masked by a man carrying a sack of potatoes who walks across the frame), and the location of Mrs Blaney's marriage agency.
The first Carry On film, Carry on Sergeant was filmed just down the road from me in Stoughton Barracks in Guildford.

We did a Harry Potter tour in Great Britain a number of years ago. There were only 2 movies, and book 4 came out while we were touring. But it was great fun.

This would have been a lot better if you would have inserted pictures of the film so we could see exactly what you're talking about. I know I hadn't seen the movies in years and couldn't really put the images to the places.
Probably copyright issues would have prevented it. Would have been nice though.

Little bit late but parts of The Half-Blood Prince was filmed it Surbiton Station.
I think the blend of old and new in harry potter is very interesting.
JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, had a very depressing backstory before she started writing her first novel. She dropped out of college at 17 years old, and a couple of years later her mom died from a disease. After that she suffered a miscarriage. She did eventually get married, but her husband abused her. She did have a successful pregnancy that resulted in a baby girl...but shortly after her daughter was born she got divorced and was a single mother on welfare. Then she was diagnosed with severe depression and almost committed suicide when she was 30 years old. She decided against it and focused on the one thing she could do better than anything else, which was writing stories. She wrote Harry Potter and became a famous author!

Another Fact about Kings Cross is that in most of the films the Hogwarts Express and it's locomotive, 'Hogwarts Castle' AKA Alton Hall is facing the wrong direction, towards London not towards the North and the station Exit!

I was in London just a week before this video and I walked right past or maybe a block away from these locations without recognizing them.
I did see the grate in front of an alley right next to Leicester Square tube station though, that was an entrance to Diagon Alley in one movie.
Also of note... it is said that under one of the platforms [some think platform 10] at Kings Cross station, is where the Iceni warrior Boudicea body is said to lay in folklore after the Battle of Watling Street. Her warrior horde of over 200,000 strong were wiped out by Roman leader Tacitus. it is said that she drank poison to die with her warriors after the defeat of the Britons.

Have been to Kings Cross,Milleinum Bridge,North Yorkshire Moor Railway (not London) and Surbiton Station. I only went to Lambeth bridge the other week
I went to Claremont Square a couple years ago when I was in London, it was beautiful. I also read about the other places mentioned in the video but that was after my trip so I wasn't able to visit the rest!
There's definitely a part 2 in there somewhere!

Come up here to the National Railway Museum in York and see if you can find the authentically aged and distressed "Platform 9 3/4" sign in 1960s British Rail white-on-orange style.
Films were made just outside London near Watford.

I live in Exeter where Jk Rowling went to uni. Rumors have it that our Gandy street gave her the idea of diagon alley and that the vaults club there inspired gringotts bank
The tour is incomplete because there are a lot of places : millenium bridge, leicester square, piccadilly circus, convent garden, Leadenhall market.

I liked the brief scene of Heathgate for Hermione's home in Deathly Hallows (part I).
Also i've seen people play quidditch on Hampstead Heath a few times.
Wasn't Leadenhall Market in the first of the films. The bit when he goes shopping for all his magic stuff.

writing this in 2022 - i assume this was shot before the Harry Potter statue/sculpture was made in Leicester Square...and isnt there a Harry Potter shop just off of Charing Cross Road?

They Built the toilets opposite horse guards
The Sweet shop is off St Martins Lane , where they also used a small alley for the Market scenes too
I worked for The Big Bus Tours London for 20 years and they had a Harry Potter Walk every day 1 o'clock Traf sq . Bump into a guide and I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction

FACT: the 19 years later part cannot happen Orton Hall (howgarts Castle ) is needing a overhaul (in the movie they GNER as well they finished in 2007)
Actually, one of the trains there was the Virgin Pretendolino set!
but in 2017 GNER didn't exist
If they were to follow the actual time setting of the story it would originally include the old Intercity trains.

I have never seen Potter as a film, only snippets. Hasn’t been to Borough Market for many years, I won’t after that dreadful attack, and I know that Square in Islington.
