Agreed! We have friends we do toy swaps with at Christmas. So my kid picks out a toy of his and gives it to his friend as a Christmas present and vice versa. It’s way fun!
This is perfect! I found this saying on Pinterest that I use when shopping: “something they want, something they need, something they wear, and something they read”.
Just a couple minutes in but I love your reindeer headband! Thank you for being so open and honest about the gift cards/money you get from affiliate links! You deserve that for everything you do for us viewers!
No shame in second hand at all! I brag all the time! I snagged a Barbie dream house for $8 and gave it as a bday gift to my 8 year old. She loves and I never would have been able to get something like that for her full price. Great job 👏🏼
I think you did fantastic on your kids gifts!! You are so right, its okay to get them gently used gifts. The get more expensive when they are teens!! Great job
This is perfect especially since all of the other family is getting them things to this is sooo pert! U go mom! That’s how u do it folks ! This is absolutely amazing
This is a great vid. You’re always such an inspiration to me. But now I feel more guilty for overspending 😂 I am raising a grandchild and it’s hard sometimes to not buy buy buy to try to make up to him how his life has went but I am going to do better!!!!
Wow your sending your son to a NFL game he’s going to have a blast… Me and my son went to the Dallas game on thanksgiving and omg we had an amazing time. Your son will never see football on tv the same again 😅
I’m new here and I have to say, I LOVED this video! I love how you shopped for the children’s gift! Using gift cards for gifts are sooooo convenient! I’m sure your children will enjoy their gifts!
I did most of our kids gift shopping too, my husband was grateful because he hasn’t had a lot of extra time. He picks all the gifts for me and one for each kid, his parents gifts, his sibling exchange gift, and his friends.
This is totally me: “our budget per kid” is $150. First kid: $320 spent… 😂. We mama’s can’t help it! We see things our kids will like and want to get it for them!
Me too.. I feel embarrassed I went extra and spent like 300 but hey, I only have 1 kid! And I have one on the way so… at least the new kid will get to enjoy the presents I got the older kid when she grows into them and the older kid grows out of them. :)
Good for you getting Vans things at a garage sale. My kids are older now and I couldn’t get away with that, but at that age the kids just enjoy the new toy. Merry Christmas to your beautiful family xx
It’s so nice when family is involved with gifts for kids. I grew up with my dad’s family that way. Grew up living our family Christmas gathering. Now as an adult my kids are lucky to get gifts from 1 set of grandparents. Aunts and uncles and other grandparents don’t acknowledge Christmas with the kids. However, these parents keep the magic for the kids. Just makes our budget a wee bit higher. We try to stay under the $500 range for gifts from us and Santa per child. Typically we stay around 5-10 gifts each. Stockings is $100 budget as I love stockings. With saying that we don’t always spend $100 most years we don’t but can. We budget for Christmas starting the day after Christmas and I shop all year on deals. I just have a bin in the attic and a note page on my phone. I have a 7 yr old daughter, a 19 yr old son
Smart woman right here. I also did less this year and I doubt they will even notice. You did good mama. I feel like I did to. Thank you Jesus for providing for us!
when my kids were little our rule was 6 gifts and 1 unwrapped gift from Santa..along with a goodie bag(instead of a stocking) i got them similar items..like each one a hoodie or outfit, 2 toys that were on their list, blanket, books, something that they collected, not exactly thd the same items but similar. now they are all grown, but i still purchase for grandchildren this way
Great video! I used to spend the same amount in them but now I go by gift amount because now I have one teenager and one middle Schooler and sometimes each year they ask for something more expensive than the other did that year so it helps balance out.
Great job! I'm so tired of watching videos where 1000's of dollars are spent, or the minimum of 4 gifts are bought. You seem normal to me! I buy for 9 people, my 4 grown kids, mytwo grown grandchildren and my 1 great grandson. I always buy a family experience ie go karting or horseback riding, or tubing, something we all can do together. Then stocking stuffer gifts. I usually spend around 1200, experiences can get pricey, but to me it's worth every dime.
I think you did a Treymendus.....job! Veraly.....Sybiliously Vanderful!! Love that you gave them gently used items as well, kids grow so fast and its great to be able to strech the budget by recycling things that they can use and enjoy! Thank you for sharing!❤
I really enjoyed see what you're getting the kids! I especially love the gifts of a cookbook and 100 cookie cutters--your daughter has to love it! It makes me feel good to think of you and your daughter or maybe all the kids in the kitchen, sharing a nice time together. Have a great Christmas!
I think you've done an excellent job buying Christmas. I think there is nothing wrong with buying used. Even my teenager doesn't care if something is used. It's smart shopping. Good job!!
My great-grans love to thrift with me for toys. Kids don't care if they're second hand, they just love getting new toys.💯. You got some good things, they're going to love them.
My dad got my daughter a make up box like the one you got. He gave her some letter stickers to personalize it with her name. It was such a hit with her. She’s 20 now and she still has it and cherishes it.
Abby you did AMAZING on what you all bought the kiddos!! They will LOVE it! I wish I could see your son on Christmas morning when he finds out he gets to go to the Houston Texans game!
I agree about the toys!! clutter drives me nuts but I know some toys are definitely necessary. I second hand shop and of course birthdays/christmas grandma gets them things off their Amazon list. My boys are 8 and 10… From grandma, I stuck to 1 toy, a puzzle, headphones and books. From us they’re getting new comforter sets, a Minecraft block set(so more of an activity), a book, pajamas and legos for my oldest and a Jurassic world toy for my youngest.
I think this was an awesome video. I feel like you live in the real world with all the rest of us. :) Your gifts were thoughtful and practical. My little guy is 7 and he loves Science. He is currently doing a "deep dive" his words into the Periodic Table. So we got him an acrylic Periodic Table with samples of the elements except ofcourse for the radioactive ones, a Periodic Table poster, a magnet set I found at Target Dollar Spot around school time. He will love it and it was $15 for the whole gift. I think you are right and just need to gift them with items they will love.
So happy to see gifts that were gently worn/used. Kids outgrow clothing and toys so quickly. Most are like new. They will live the gifts! Have a very merry and blessed Christmas 🎄
You did great. My kids are teenagers now but what I have done since their middle school days is they get the items they ask for but I also give them on gift that I got free couponing and one used and they have to guess wjat item. I've gotten some great items at goodwill and yard sales. Just one way I can give the kids extra and not break the bank.
Good for you for utilizing all the deals and gift cards. Even the second hand. It’s no one’s business what or how you spend. Don’t listen to them. You do you boo!!!!!!!!
“100 cookie cutters! …. I’m probably gonna regret this..” so funny how you probably thought of the clean up. You’re such a good mom. Gifts don’t have to be toys to be fun! Especially with 100 cookie cutters, the possibilities are endless!
Love this SO much! My family gives me flack for getting used as gifts. But we have too many kids and they don't notice, anyway. My son's b'day was Friday and he got a used PlayStation and was SO happy with it
Just stopping by to say you are a great mom :) I know the years that are tighter on budget can definitely be more stressful but your kids will have a great Christmas!! You did a great job.
We went sooo over the top the last few years, it was nuts. I think I was compensating for my broke childhood 😂😅 but it really was not aligned with my values and what we want for our kids, we were seeing it in their attitudes too. This year I actually went to Walmart and walked the aisles thinking about what my kids would love instead of impulse shopping Amazon lighting deals. My 3 kids ended up getting 9 presents each for around ~$150 per kid (some of those gifts are really small mind you lol), and then I bought presents for 9 other children in our family AND filled my kids stockings and spent about $600 total for everything! We used to spend easily $1000 on just the 3 kids. I’m really proud of myself and super excited to see my kids faces when they open up their presents that were actually chosen with thought and care.
I'm new to your channel, I enjoyed this. Young kids don't care about how much money the gifts cost or even know. All these videos of other parents bragging about how much they spent, are just trying to get attention. I think your gifts are excellent! Everyone will get things they really like and will use for some time. Many toys are played with for a few weeks and wind up under the bed or in the back of the closet! 😀 Kids don't care if it's brand new or bought from someone who needs to pass it on. The kids just like the gifts.
We do $15 per year in age starting at $45 for a baby and going up to $200 when they hit 13 years old, then it stays $200 each year. Our 15 year old wants/needs gifts that are more expensive than the gifts our 7 year old wants so they don’t need the same budget. I’m that amount we do one gift from mom, one gift from dad, two from Santa, and four special stocking gifts (even if they don’t fit in the stocking, they’re just smaller gifts or lower price than their four bigger gifts).
@@youtubeacc We do one gift from mom, one gift from dad, two from Santa, and four special stocking stuffers (they may not fit in the stocking, but they are smaller gifts than the main ones). This year my oldest wanted a weighted bear, cross body bag, and make up stuff (other things too, but those are things she knows we got in case she sees this). My 2nd is getting art supplies, a Pokémon binder, hair chalk & face paint, Harry Potter face cards. If they want something that is more than our budget we can give them cash to help them save up to purchase it themselves. Our budget for all four of our kids this year was $550, we only spent $450 to get all their gifts.
I honestly don’t think they need to learn to appreciate it if they really don’t want or like it. As an adult, we don’t love every single thing we are given. Just because they are gifted it doesn’t automatically make them grateful for it.
Based on your disclaimer at the beginning Of no negative comments I thought you were getting your kids a used book & sweater lol. You gave them a very good Christmas with lots of great items that match their interests!
Hey Abby, Happy Monday. I have been on top of Christmas shopping this year as well. I love that you were on top of deals and getting things early on before December. ❤ I love that you have an organized layout of Christmas ideas and gifts for each kid. I love this video and seeing everyone that you and your husband bought for your kids. ❤🥰
This video was so good! It helped me so much! Thank you! I have two girls-7 and 2. I also have to get them things that are similar because ya know…girls. Lol. I am totally not on my A game due to many, many big life changes atm, but this still really helped. ❤️😘 And PS. You did a great job!💖
It is so refreshing to see someone not just buying a ton of crap and buying used! I was so excited to find my daughter a basically new Barbie airplane for 1/4 of the cost of new....it was her top Santa gift request this year.

Teen gifts are pricey, especially when they wear adult sized clothes and shoes.
I love the way you shopped for your children. I am curious, though, as to why you differentiate between gifts from you & your hubby and gifts from Santa. Also, how do you budget for Christmas items for, say, teachers, coaches, extended family members, etc. Many thanks!
I love that you decided what you’re spending and don’t care what anyone else thinks about it. Exactly how it should be.
These are some of my favorite videos! Also, I love that we are normalizing buying used things for gifts more often.
Agreed! We have friends we do toy swaps with at Christmas. So my kid picks out a toy of his and gives it to his friend as a Christmas present and vice versa. It’s way fun!

My daughter wanted a Barbie Dreamhouse and I totally got one used of Marketplace for $30 instead of $200
Really enjoyed the video. Awesome thoughtful gifts and not junky or excessive.

Great shopping great ideals for others to shop
