      @camalfitano Sarcasmitron is the best debunker of Russian/US propaganda machine i know, with a brilliant 3-part analysis of invasion of Ukraine. I don't remember in which one he talked about the myth of "color revolutions", but here isprobably the most important 2nd part about Donbas 2014-2022:
      ua-cam.com/video/fQ_ZRBLFOXw/v-deo.htmlsi=rntPpnGIsIczF3UV

    Ukraine: This hurts, from my home town It's only about a day's drive to the Ukraine borders. But it's not the only reason why I feel close to Ukrainians. We were occupied by the Warsaw pact armies, led by Russians. Yes, it was not so devastating but our government was pro Russian. When the Ukraine invasion begun I helped to subsidize housing for Ukrainian immigrants in Prague (for 1 year). 2 days ago I became a part of an initiative of a local NGO Člověk v tísni (monthly installment for 2 years). Please help Ukraine, any way.

    To Stefan K:
    I have the same feeling of hypocracy towards myselv and i dont have anything to do with Russia nor Ukraine.
    Just for beeing a stoned fat guy living in sheltered germany, i often feel compelled to do more, to throw myselv into harms way against the knowledge that i propably wouldnt make a good soldier.
    Just to work and to pay taxes and to get my life in order and to engage in a bit online aktivism seems too small, yet also poses already challenge enough to me.
    Ive come to the conclusion that just working, paying taxes, and engage in democracy and minor activism is actully the best thing i can do for Ukraines cause.
    Thank you for moving to the EU, for not fighting for Putin in this stupid war, thank you for choosing life!

    • @dannydetonator
      @dannydetonator 2 місяці тому +2

      For now you're right. Ukraine is:
      1)Not asking for external soldiers, they have more conscripts than weapons for them to use effectively at the moment;
      2) Not accepting soldiers in UFL without prior military experience. They've stopped that practice since the first months of the fullscale war. I've tried. Most military volunteers and all civilian ones also have to mostly fund their own missions. So unless you're rich enough for a civilian mission, you're not missing out.
      However if anyone have a different experience or new inside knowledge, please let me know.

    Since I asked that NAFO question, I did see someone post on twitter that they had run across a Ukrainian lady in real life who didn't know what NAFO was and this person explained it. The Ukrainian lady said that she'd been getting bullied by some Russians online and..."suddenly lots of dogs appeared! Hundreds and hundreds of dogs to defend us! I didn't know where they'd come from. It was wonderful. Thank you." So that was a good one. 🙂

    Sarcasmitron is awesome. Just some random channel with a handful of wonderfully documented and nuanced videos on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the West
    The one that is mentioned was a bit ancillary to the first three but still crazy. At one point he plays a video posted just a couple years ago by Sergey Glazyev, in which Glazyev wishes a heartfelt happy posthumous birthday to Lyndon LaRouche
    For anyone who knows who both those men are it's a surreal moment. And as the video is about, there's a long history between Lyndon LaRouche and his people and RT and Russian nationalists. Just nuts
    So yeah, go watch his videos. A UA-cam gem

    NAFO's expansion is a good thing, it offers security to anybody under threat of an invasion and it's regrettable that Ukraine was not joined early on.

    Thank you Vlad for explaining Vasili Utkin to us. I saw the news about his death and immediately realized he had been a very special person to many. Unfortunately I do not understand russian or know much about football so I had no idea who he was. So sad that the best ones seem to always be the ones leaving too early 😢

    My little theory for the algorithm is that the platform above all wants to retain viewers for as long as possible to maximize the amount of ads the user is ultimately shown.
    So, watching videos to the end and then when presented with the selection of suggested videos that follow, select another video from the same creator and watch this to the end as well, repeat as much as desired.
    Subjectively I find that even watching only 2 or three videos in this fashion will cause a channel to appear in the suggestions frequently for weeks afterwards regardless of whether or not I am subscribed.
    There seems (to a lesser degree) an element of "interest profiling" in the algorithm as well. For an experiment I searched for videos featuring locomotives and railroads and found that in a relatively short amount of time the suggestions became very crowded with more content that was only broadly similar. For example tutorials on how to model scenery for model railroads and videos from the rail fan community showing various trains passing by. These videos frequently had very low profiles (< 1k views)
    I theorize that this is an attempt to prevent the algorithm to run away in feedback loops (as it frequently did a few years ago) by spiking the suggestions with small channels. It might also help balancing load on the infrastructure by distributing exposure over more content instead of allowing the algorithm to focus all attention on a small set of viral clips, thereby reducing the need for caching.
    I might be thinking too much about this guys...

    I love the statement on prayer. I'm not religious person myself it doesn't fit with my mindset but I can see the purpose and benefits of religion especially on the mind. the community and being able to talk with "holy" men/women who have the same codex to not tell others about your topic or mind soothing prayers have all their worth.
