Watching you getting to know the work of a brazilian singer because you found it in youtube most watched page in US made my day. Thanks for your review, you rock.
Really liked it, Barret! Anitta is a huge artist from Brazil that is starting her career in the US. She sings in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian and French and has multiple hits in different countries all around the globe. She transits through different genres such as pop, reggaeton, bossa nova, funk, R&B, EDM.
@@mouraneto71 Oi!
I wrote this same thing on Blake's reaction video to Anitta. It is gonna take a little while to understand who Anitta is, she is someone who is going to take the world by storm because she is never gonna lose her extreme authenticity. The girl came from the favelas, broke down all of her own countries prejudice and discrimination, and became the greatest legacy Brazil has ever produced (maybe compared to Pele). There are 2 documentaries about her journey on Netflix and her latest interview on Jimmy Fallon shows exactly who she is, and where she is going. This other clip is more what made her in Brazil ua-cam.com/video/kDhptBT_-VI/v-deo.html Thanks for doing this reaction. She deserves it!
I feel like this song was engined by a big and competent team to be a hit. Specific chords, specific aesthetic, aesthethic lyrics, specific beat... It has the introduction, the "dreamy" state then the fun party with the catchy beat... Amazing hit, but almost too plastic.
That was a very nice reaction! It was awesome seeing the honesty when you were talking about your thoughts on what you were seeing/hearing. Welcome to the land of youtube, hope you have lots of fun around here!
Thanks Barrett, nice video! I would really like to know a little bit better about tour job, your achievements as a producer/musicisn and your story! That would be very cool! Keep going💪
Pop artists really have been bringing back that 80's sound. Mark Ronson has this familiar sound in the album Late Night Feelings from 2019, wich is a interesting album with good artists. Dua Lipa I believe was the first to hit with a music that was making this resuscitation, in 2019 with Future Nostalgia, and in 2020 with the album of the same name, most of the songs had great numbers. Miley Cyrus came with the album Plastic Hearts in 2020, that I'm very fond of, the twist is that most songs are featured by singers of the 80's, was a good result. Also in 2020 The Weekend came with a 80's inspiration too, and was a really big hit, and pop is like that in the end right, everyone keeps doing the gold recipe till another comes around. Anitta's case I feel is partially this, but also that there is a expectation on her to have a international hit, recipe it is, there's creativity in the music video and the song is kind good, but is pure Pop, is different from a lot of her works, and is just Pop, most people like Pop, and in the end she needs some solid ground in the internacional market before doing some experiment.
I may have forgot someone else but I actually don't keep up too much with Pop hahaha I would like to know what you think about what those artists did with the 80's.
The greatest Brazilian singer of all time, this is Anitta, what a pride, what an honor to know that I was able to live at the same time as this music icon, speechless, I can only cheer 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hello Barrett nice reaction, we Brazilian fans are very proud. I think you can react to Korean music next... In fact, there is a Korean girl group that has a lot of influence of rock in the songs, you should check it out. The girl group's name is DREAMCATCHER, please react to the song called SCREAM.
Great video! I think you’ll enjoy "2021 em uma música” from Lucas Inutilismo, because is pure rock. Also, I’ll love if you Watch A QUEDA, from Glória Groove. The both, like Anitta, are brasillians.
That's very interesting to watch you to react to Anitta cause you probably wouldn't like her other works (maybe a girl from Rio, will I see you..) makes me wonder if that's a paid reaction, which is cool anyways. I think this song is her first attempt to a punk-pop and was probably Max Martin's idea (he is the producer). I believe that this genre is back with Olivia Rodrigo and gen z renewed curiosity on the genre. However, Anitta is definitely not a pop-rock artist even tho she is known for using all sorts of different genre
Thank you for your comment , I'm definitely not paid (i wish), I picked the song from the front page of UA-cam because the song title is the same a Cure song and I saw that it had 7 million views in 3 days. This song is pure POP and zero PUNK. I think the song is good and she has talent, but it's very "Max Martin" i.e. meant to be a "HIT" and take it from someone who was a teenager in the early 80's, the sounds in this song are VERY 80's new wave.
Oh thanks for clarifying. I thought it was a paid reaction because the song is a hit in Brazil but flopping with the audience she wants to reach ( Americans and international market) but seems like her live show on Jimmy Fallon is turning the table for her. Her last attempt to make it internationally didn't work with "Girl From Rio" so they totally changed the album idea and strategy. I said pop pink because that's how gen z is calling Olivia Rodrigo's songs, but I agree with you. Other than that I really like your honesty. @@BarrettJonesProducer
@@ach4049 Nothing is done overnight, it's been 6 days since the song came out and you're already declaring a flop... however the numbers are only growing day after day in the united states. besides that music was the fastest growing on spotify global yesterday jumping 26 positions

This, for me, is a "copy" of Hayley Williams singing style, but with more electronic and less rock, while Paramore is more rock. Very good and smart melodies, but it would be WAY better with those alternative rock's weird-ish guitar riffs. But then that would sound even more like Paramore😂. But that's just my opinion anyways.
Check out the live version on Jimmy Fallon.. i noticed a guitar playing riffs and distorted palm muted notes on it. ua-cam.com/video/fb2QcLXADJI/v-deo.html
