The best movie ever made in Indian Film history ever. As a protest I watched the movie almost every day I came across something rubbish about the movie. 20+ times I remember watching this movie. And also I purchased a copy of the movie. Remember you all disliked movie Swadesh too, that movie too I watched almost 25+ times and had purchased. But I believe, Roy should have been made in Europe or in USA. If even reviewers like Anupama Chopra is so dumb in seeing it's craft and beauty, it should have been made in Hollywood.
I have just watched it. After actually 7 years. I am a writer, so my feeback would be very different from others Just like the way october of varun dhawan was a beautiful immersive world to get lost in, roy seems to fall in a similar abstract category. Many would fail to connect because the director made a mess of the story, or rather the execution. Like sooraj dooba hai yaaro - the 1st song. It suddenly springs out of nowhere, and turns out to be a disturbing element of a beautiful tale till then. Jaqueline is clearly lost amongst 2 heavyweights, and clearly shows she was not the right selection. I loved the summary and specially that ending painting. Wow What a beautiful link between art and life

Ranbeer knew from the very start that the movie is a piece of crap, thats why he didn't even smile in the whole movie and sat on a dharna in the middle of the ocean with a satellite phone on which the director keep requesting him to come back to shoot the rest of the movie. And all that anger that accumulated in that poor guy was unleashed on those poor henchmen... tsh tsh tsh
You still don't need to say "my description of this film is more interesting than the Film." leave that behind for viewers. But as homo sapiens are not perfect(even aamir khan), you are 4.5 stars reviewer. GOOD WORK MA'AM :)

Tell me about it : P I hope these people one day realize the "angst" the audience goes through when they have to bear through films like "Bang Bang" &"Roy". Can't say anything though, "Humsakkals" was also made in this very same country, so might make some moolah despite all this !!!

Yes, it indeed is a nice movie! It's been a long time since I watched it, but just randomly started watching the review... It is a nice movie! It does blend fiction and reality and once you get to know that, it is really nice! If I had a problem, it might just be the dialogues, I didn't like them much whoever did the dialogue writing, specially the one between Arjun Rampal and his father, played by Anupam Kher, there was one scene where he is giving him a watch and that, I just didn't like that one... And, she has mentioned some dialogues there... Thank You But, leaving those dialogues, I still like the film and I can't deny that even though I liked Arjun Rampal's and Jacqueline's, I really really enjoyed Ranbir's work. Ranbir and Jacqueline's parts together and with one with Arjun Rampal, look real to me. Apart, from that, oh it's good to see this one!

I am not saying that ROY is the bad movie, i am just saying that if you have a choice between MSG and ROY just go FOR MSG .. this is what happens when stupid ppl makes pseudo intellectual movie. the director is ranbir's childhood friend. couldn't say 'no' obviously. don't worry, he's a superb actor with really good choices (barring besharam) waiting for bombay velvet

I totally agree with you! This movie moved so slow it was like watching someone think for three hours - boring. I had no interest in relating to these people, all of whom were totally self-centered and dull.

Although he should hv steered clearly away from this film, perhaps he was getting bored having no release since 2013 or perhaps he cudnt say no to the director who happens to be a family friend. Whatever be d reason it wasnt a wise decision. As for rest of the cast i dont expect any better. Wen Jacqueline gets a leading part in a movie, you can sense the director's vision and his sensibilities. ;)
