How Accurate Is A 300fps Nerf Sniper?

- In 2019 I made a video showing how accurate a 300fps Nerf sniper blaster can be. It showcased the 3D printed Caliburn and Dart Zone Pro darts.
A lot has changed since then, new rifling, new darts, new blasters, so in this video I compare how accurate Nerf is today vs how it was back then.

You know its a good blaster when he does 3 consecutive videos on it.
Awesome video as always. It is amazing to see so much progress in such little time
LoL I JUST watched that old video yesterday.
The accuracy of the Apex Prime is amazing.
Awesome information, and great to see my backyard is still a feature.
I absolutely love this blaster, but as a budget guy, I’ll never own one. Still super badass. Awesome video for sure 🎉
The energy vs FPS is going to become a problem down the road. Even 1g darts can very a lot, like dart zone/worker standerd vs bamboos.
at VDC we have found that a 1 gram dart point blank at 200 fps gives 1.2 joules
a 1.2 gram dart at 300 fps impacting a target at 30 metres gives about 1.2 joules [point bank it gets up to 2 joule if I recall correctly]
a 1.2 gram dart at 200 fps gives about the same joules at point blank for reference
so if you have a good MED system the joules at impact are all 1.2 joules
So at 30M a 1.2gram dart has slowed from 300fps down to 200fps? How slow is the 1gram dart in comparison?
@@BradleyPhillipsYT i dont know sorry. ill have to find the data again
@tk5800thesecond I would just use a Joule calculator online if I were you guys, the numbers you're estimating are very low, a point blank 300fps 1g dart is like 4j 😅
Just a 200fps a 1g dart hits 1.8j and 1.2g dart hits 2.2j
@thehollowlingwin
I think out methods differ greatly
We used an open chrony placed at 30 meters to measure the 300fps blaster.
Yep, the hobby's come a long way. I do miss seeing your dogs in your accuracy tests though .
The new location has the sound of birds and the occasional cow or pig in the background though!
Love your work Brad. Any chance you can do a behind-the-scenes of your setup (cameras, computers, software) and process (steps, editing, voice-overs, timeframes 9:58 ) for your range tests? Really interested in how you produce such high-quality content. But understand too that you might need to protect your IP.
It's really quite simple and not really a secret. Pretty common knowledge I'd imagine. The camera on my blaster that gives you the "scope" view is called a Runcam 2 Scopecam, on my head is a Go Pro and down range I have a camera just pointed at the target. Then in video editing software like Premiere Pro you swap between them or put them side by side. I use three claps to help sync them all based on the audio spikes.
What do you use / how do you do the accuracy graphics (target hits)?
@@bradsuosaari1206 make a circle transparent PNG file in Photoshop or similar and put it on the Premiere timeline. Place it where the shot hit.
My son said, “Don’t shoot the bird, Bradley!” LoL
Wait, there was a bird?
@@BradleyPhillipsYT During your range testing. LoL
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Ya, at 9:53 a bird popped into frame.
@@Searinex lol if it had flown lower it may have gotten hit!
maybe its time to test accuracy at an even greater range like 40m to try to find a difference between the darts
Hey Bradley,
Love the content! Curious about your darts, during your chrono test, you’re shooting the board from what seems to be fairly close . Do you find your darts getting torn up from this?
I know if I did that with mine (250fps harrier with gen3+ darts), my darts would be getting loose heads all over the place. Curious to hear your experience
For testing purposes I don't usually reuse darts as it could throw off the results, but pretty much any of these shots I'd happily pick up and reuse for gameplay. They are very rarely broken after only one shot.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT interesting. I find after a few shots mine start spinning wildly. Maybe a bad batch of darts
In your personal opinion is the sweetheart storm 2.0 plus as accurate as this apex prime? I am looking at getting one or the other, mostly just to plink targets at long range with my kids. I do not play competitively so I’m mostly just interested in accuracy and ease of use. I might also consider a Kirin since it’s almost half the price all decked out and the shells are not an issue just popping shots in my house or backyard. You are the only one I’ve seen have hands on experience with all 3 so I was hoping to get your opinion on what you would get if you were in my shoes. Money not particularly being a big factor, more of a tie breaker.
I think if you used the Sabre BCAR on the Sweetheart Storm you'd get similar results for sure.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT That’s kinda what I expected but wanted to verify with someone who actually touched both. The sweetheart would definitely be a lot easier for my kids to play with although I’m not sure that’s a good thing since they are 4 and 7 and might shoot out my tv or windows… perhaps manual prime is the smarter choice but damn that sweetheart is so awesome it’s hard to pass it up.
Great VID
thinking about zeroing the scope
What type of fall happens over different distance, would there be and ideal zeroing point for game play.
considering the small amount of time that is avaailable too take the shot ???????
I usually zero to 30m, up close you will still hit everyone and further you just aim higher
You’re the man
Hi I live in the very northern /eastern tip of NSW, just an hour and a half from Goldcoast and I’m dying to find some groups, I’m more than happy to travel as many hours as necessary as regularly as possible so please let me know if you guys know anyone/where, thank you :)
Thanks.
25cm spread at 30 meters means the distance from the left most and right most hits is 25cm, correct? If we just look at the angle of the spread (assuming I still remember trigonometry correctly), at 15 meters the spread would be 12.5cm (half of the 25cm at 30 meters). This is still about twice the width of a soda can, so at 15 meters you still can't get a guaranteed hit on it. (standard U.S. soda can is supposedly 6.6cm in width, but i don't know if this is different in Australia.) I know you have a video where you tested nerf rival rounds on cans at 50 feet and they missed horribly. I'm curious how your setup here would fare against soda cans at 50 feet. Assuming the angular spread does not change at closer distances, it seems that to get a guaranteed hit on a soda can, you'd need to be at about 26 feet or closer... This seems quite bad. I'm assuming the angular spread (or whatever it's supposed to be called) is actually less at closer distances. Would you be interested in doing accuracy testing at closer distances? (50 feet or 30 feet?) It's hard for me to put into perspective how accurate these things are, since I don't have a high velocity blaster so I'm never firing at 100 feet.
The further the dart travels, the more outside variables like wind or air resistance throw off accuracy. I don't believe it to bea linear increase or decrease. At a distance of 50ft I believe this would never miss a soda can.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT I do believe you when you say this would never miss a soda can at 50 feet, but would you care to do an actual test to demonstrate this? Your channel is one of the very few with actual accuracy testing, but you seem to only test at 100 feet. On other channels, although they may test at closer distances, the way they do so is very unscientific... usually free-hand, with no way to prove that they're actually aiming at the same point for every shot, so the tests end up proving very little.
hi phillips, is it possible for you to test out the accuracy with same dart and bscar on worker harrier? since it is a more affordable blaster for us😅
I have tested the same darts but not the same scar on Harrier. Check out my Harrier review.
You should have increased the spin from the BCAR for the heavy darts to stabilize them better.
If only there were adjustable BCARs like there used to be with SCARs.
@@BradleyPhillipsYTthere are some models you can print yourself that come with a wide range of options spin angles, how much the bearings grip the dart and such. Finding whats optimal for your build is going to be an endless mission tho.
Was this testing all with the included 14kg spring?
Yes
Where did you get that grip for your prime?
It's designed for Airsoft or Gel Blasters, find it on any of those websites.
This is why we should start using joules instead of fps as a measurement for competitive imo.
That does make it more work for event organisers. I think chrono testing everyone with a 1gram dart gets you close to eliminating the issue.
I think apex prime may be the foam dart blaster to end all springer ultimate performance.
I hope not, I want to see them keep improving as time goes on.
Is this with the 14kg spring or the 18kg?
14kg
Baize vs Apex, which one has to get bigger plunger tube?
Pretty sure the Baize is larger but it's far less efficient. It struggles to even get 300fps with massive springs.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT even V2.5? According to AmericanFoam and ThatOldNerfGuy it has quite some potential.
@@lyonel4044 I haven't tried the newer one, but the limiting factor was the small diameter of the pusher which restricts airflow.
I know its a stretch but lubbock texas?
There's a few groups in Texas by the looks if you have a search on Facebook
How do heavy tipped bamboos stack up to heavy tipped standards
Overall there isn't a lot of difference between Worker Bamboo darts and Worker Standards. Bamboo feed better into AEGs and can have higher fps in some blasters.
@@BradleyPhillipsYTso accuracy is about the same between standard heavyweights and bamboo heavyweights? In the video it seems like theres no improvement to normal weight bamboos and possibly even worse than standard normal and heavyweight darts
Im ordering a few boxes of darts so Im wondering if i should order the bamboos or just a 5 pack of the bamboo mold so I can bamboo whatever darts I want. (Price doesn’t matter in this case since im ordering from a hook up)
@@anvu27257 Ask brad for a 35m or 40m target accuracy test and the heavy weight darts shall win the encounter.
@@anvu27257 I think this video may help answer your question, although it is a standard 1gram comparison.

@@BradleyPhillipsYTah so basically the results can more or less also be applied to heavyweight standards vs bamboos?
Love it when nerf sniping requires garbage can measuring!
Please step back to 40m and test accuracy 👍
Trust me it won’t go 40m
Can you stop saying hit holy shit that's annoying
